Godlikes and the Gods
illathid replied to Luckmann's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Well I'd imagine Eothasian Godlike to be kinda like Aasimar in D&D, goldenskin, etc. Can't think of anything that would keep them from wearing a helmet though... Also, are we sure Deathlikes aren't blessed by Berath? I'd imagine something more cold based for Rymrgand. Abydon godlike would look like pyramid head? :D Skaen godline would be Effigy juniors? No idea for Wael or Woedica, but I'm not too far along in the game so that could change. -
Well part of the reason for having optional XP is so players who aren't as good at the game can get through the mandatory stuff by over leveling. Matt, I saw someone bring up the idea of applying modifiers to the experience awards themselves to stop players from over leveling themselves out of content (e.g. If Raederic's hold is meant to be done at level 4, you'd get 1,000 XP if you finished it while level 4, but only 900 if you were level 5, etc.). What would the math have to look like to accomplish this? I'd try to figure it out myself, but it's beyond my meager abilities.

Well since the Aedyr empire is a combined human/elven realm it should be fine. I picked it because I always choose diplomatic and honest replies, so my defenses bonuses would stack quicker. My stats were: M 19 C 5 D 5 P 16 I 17 R 16 I probably could've left int at 10 and used the points elsewhere, but I wanted my paladin to be smart. Right now he's the highest damage dealer in my party and can tank reasonably well too.

They may well change the attribute design, but I can guarantee that might will always effect both physical and magical damage. Muscle Wizards are here to stay, and the game is better for it.

I'm calling it quits
illathid replied to Nasdaq7's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'll link a pic of my journal here. Careful for spoilers Everything listed under "The Hollowing of the Dyrwood" is a critical path quest. Anything listed under "Quests" or "Tasks" is optional. -
I'm calling it quits

Um... You can? Main quest is at the top in your quest journal, side quests in the middle, smaller tasks are at the bottom. -
Hey, I appreciate all the time you've must of taken to write this all out. You've clearly puna lot of thought into it and it really shows. I agree with some of your points and disagree with others, but there's one thing in particular I want address. While I agree the attributes could be much better, removing accuracy from the system was the best thing they've done so far. Even with the changes made to damage modifiers, if you add accuracy back into the mix it becomes a must have stat, regardless of the character concept. In fact, I can't think of a character archetype where maxing accuracy wouldn't be the most optimal choice. A CC wizard? Max Accuracy A tanky fighter? Max Accuracy A supporting chanter? Max Accuracy A DPS Rogue? Min Accu... Of course you'd max Accuracy! Again, this not to say the current attribute system is perfect, but I'm certain adding accuracy back into the mix would only make things worse. I may address some of your other points eventually as well, I'll just need to work up to it.

The reason why Con is usually a dump stat is that it doesn't have a whole lot of effect by the end of the game. Each point of Con is only worth 6.3 endurance for a paladin. Conversely, each point of Per or Res makes all damage received lower on average (crits become hits, hits become grazes, etc.).

Realistic dates for PoE 2
illathid replied to Bryy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think the time frame for PoE2 would depend on how they are managing the team for the expansions. Constant work is better than nothing, and if they have their pipelines set up well they could be working on both at the same time. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a PoE2 in 2016. However, I know 2017 is more realistic.
