  1. Just the wood elves. Pale elves can and will have beards, because lore says so. You've just made her a very happy gal
  2. Hmm but is strangling affected by unarmed proficiency? If anyone would know it'd be you Steel Garrote: Lay on Hands (on throat) I could seriously get behind that RP-wise
  3. I'll add my support to this too (not that it'll ever get done at this point though) Mod, perhaps?
  4. Very nice. I think it'd be cool to see a Steel Garrote paladin subclass modded in. From what I understand the subclass abilities are already in the game but only usable by NPCs. Would save a lot work using the existing versions I would think (unless balancing changes are required)
  5. Is this specific to Wood Elves? The Pale Elf default appearance has a beard and frankly it looked good enough that my gf stopped and stared and tried to pet the screen
  6. There is no true answer to this; it is, presumably by intention, left up to the player to interpret. Therefore, we can debate real world interpretations of faith, or speculate as to what it means to characters in the PoE universe, but there's no definitive answer. Tldr; Wael shenanigans
  7. I've played PoE1 and Deadfire beta on a laptop with similar specs, my new laptop, and a high-end PC. One thing I've noticed is that performance is similar across versions on the same machine, if you discount the long loading times and frame rate general weirdness from the beta (which has already been improved a ton). Other than that they play pretty well identically, so no, we don't know for sure, but I wouldn't be too worried
  8. Shouldn't cause you a problem, I believe it's in-game achievements (edit: Deadfire achievements, not PoE1) and not Steam's. Or GoG or whatever. That way it should work without the need for a platform.
  9. Not sure if joking but that actually sounds amazing.
  10. WANT: - More story, but at the end (not during the main game) - New gameplay such as quests and weapons (during main game), but nothing that breaks the existing game balance - Expanded or reworked naval combat system - Maybe more 'Sidekick' style companions?(someone else pointed out that full companions usually don't integrate well), but new sidekicks, or more fleshed out existing sidekicks would be welcome DON'T WANT: - Content that scales to main char mid-game. I'm looking at you, WM - Powerful weapons/items that become 'obvious' choices (would prefer equal but different options) - Small bite-size DLC's. Just... no.
  11. i just assumed these changes would be made right before release, so as to not expend the man-hours making tooltips before everything was locked in. Doesn't explain why the sections at the bottom don't let you switch back and forth though, as they clearly seem intended for... Has me a bit worried. Surely Obsidian wouldn't make so large an oversight?
  12. Yeah, I think they've disabled it for the beta for whatever reason
  13. I suspect this this will end up much like PoE1 with dual sabers far outstripping other options throughout the course of the game. That said, I've been pleased with single hit damage two handed can put out using abilities, even without heavily optimizing. My first beta run was Fighter/Paladin (more to recreate my first playthrough, not min/maxed at all) and Flames of Devotion with an Estoc and Sworn Enemy could hit for like 130+ dmg. Great for quickly taking down enemies, but will fall waaay behind in total damage over time with auto attack. So not great, but far from useless.
  14. I too like the addition of more passives. It's really not much different than the generic passives that were available to all classes in PoE1, but I will point out that: Some passives are locked behind certain power levels where they weren't before. I'm okay with this because I like the tiered power structure. And, It is not clear to the player if selecting the same ability under two different classes stacks, or is allowed..? For example, I noticed that on the same levelup, my Crusader (Devoted/Goldpact Paladin) had the choice of choosing Two Handed Weapon Style, which I wanted because his Devoted weapon choice was Estoc, both under the Fighter and Paladin skill trees. I figured either one would be greyed out or gone once I chose it, or, I could choose it and it would stack, or I could choose it and one would be suppressed (effectively throwing away one of my levelup choices permanently unless reloaded or respecced. Yikes! I can't remember what the result was but I'll come back and update later. Edit: Huh? Seems it's now showing the ability already selected. Guess either I didn't notice before or it was a bug...
  15. I have no idea what anything in that link means but I suspect you sir are the real wizard here
  16. Yup, pretty much a trailer for everybody but us. I notice it was pretty vague as to how the game actually works though. If I didn't already know what Deadfire was about this trailer would have done very little to inform me
  17. Saren. I have a ton of respect for how the ME1 team pulled off Saren as a villain and the (major Mass Effect 1 ending spoiler:) ability to persuade him to kill himself in the first part of the end boss battle. While not strictly an example of a quest, if we're including broader story choices, well, they took something as gamey as putting points into a stat (Paragon/Renegade) and turned it into a way to enable one of the most shocking and rewarding moments in gaming for me, period. I'll always remember that first play through fondly. Hands down my favourite villain since Irenicus
  18. Game breaking bug prevents player from choosing sides with new factions. Only affects Swiss release of game. Possible Non-combat playthrough implemented last minute! Mistakenly locked to French release. Firearms in US release... look I'll stop
  19. Count me as another one who planned a week of vacation around Apr launch... and while my manager would gladly change it for me, my girlfriend might not be so glad to considering she chose her vacation week to match mine already...
  20. Or the unabbreviated "Disc Jockey" subclass (unique spell- summon throwing discs") Although with how PoE likes to ham up chants it'd probably be called something like Wertan Didst Wing Yon Disc and Trolls Befell Doom Upside The Head
  21. Well it's still over 2 months until Pillars 2 releases and we have to do something until then, right?Precisely Frankly I was just curious what others thought, although "who cares" is a rather common response to my (well intentioned) questions... */world's smallest violin* I'm not overly concerned haha
  22. I even would have been cool with "one of the highest rated RPGs of all time." I mean I haven't exactly checked but it must be pretty up there And let me just restate that I have the utmost respect for how acclaimed PoE1 was and is, 134th is a flawed standard and even if it wasn't is still a great achievement. My only uncertainty was to the degree that the claim might seem misleading to the average reader
  23. I was starting to doubt whether maybe it had actually said it was one of the "highest rated RPGs" of all time, which would be a bit more reasonable imo, but nope. I went back and found the ad again and it does indeed say highest rated "game"
