Wait... So has anyone actually sacrificed a companion here? Or do they just talk about it? I found the island but I don't remember getting that choice, instead they thanked me for being all cool with Skaen and gave me a doll

There's an island in the far East with skaenites on it that gave me an Effigy of Skaen one time use summon. They referenced my choice to use the blood pool and supporting Skaen as the reason but I bet if you betrayed Skaen they'd have some consequence for you if you run into them. I'm very curious but I haven't tried the Effigy summon yet but I'm hoping it's powerful.

Where is Eder?
fortuntek replied to fortuntek's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
if he's not there to greet you then he died in your poe save I think he's saying Eder was alive at the end of PoE1 ... more likely this is yet another bug regarding Eder's save game state. The patch notes don't address this specific instance but we know Eder is not importing with the correct endgame state so I wouldn't be surprised Unfortunately this means that even if it's patched out soon, the fix would not be retroactive. Might have to keep restarting until it works correctly or else wait for a patch which addresses this (probably the next one) -
Dragon bosses in PoE 2?
fortuntek replied to mjo2138's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Well......they drop ingredients to enchant items to legendary quality.I noticed that for the magma dragon, but the scales I got off the sea dragon don't seem to do anything... Can anybody explain what they're for? I answered my own question but for anyone else wondering this: The magma dragon drops gem-like things which can be used to upgrade several items to Legendary for free, and the sea dragon drops scales which can be used to upgrade several items to Superb for free -
I know dispositions and reputation are utterly borked atm pending official patch, but I am perplexed at the apparent design decision to hide the levels of player dispositions (Benevolent, Aggressive, etc) beyond the meter we're shown; especially since faction reputations like Neketaka, Dawnstars etc have a number shown next to them to indicate level. It seems that from a design perspective this should be visible to the player since it impacts various quests and NPC reactions. I'd like to know if my character is Clever/Shady 1, 2 or 3, for example. Why was this removed when we could see this in PoE1? Does anyone else hope that in future patches we will be able to see this?

Tip of the Spear
fortuntek replied to fortuntek's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Leader was hostile... everyone in there was. I didn't realize it wasn't supposed to be that way, I was stealthing by to plant the items haha. No wonder I was confused as to what I was supposed to do. Well, I already murdered up the whole place so oh well :lol I'll try entering the village first on my next playthrough (if it's not patched by then) -
Tip of the Spear

There's one other problem though, I can't talk to the construct guy, or anyone in that building for that matter, because they're all hostile! The village outside isn't hostile. Just inside the sanctum. This happened on both playthroughs. I suspect it may be because I entered from the secret side entrance prior to the front village entrance both times, even though my party was stealthed and undetected the whole time. Maybe entering the side entrance that way automatically makes the NPCs inside hostile? If so I think this should be fixed as it makes the quest impossible without just slaughtering everyone. -
I can't figure out the stealth approach. This is the quest where you can kill the Wahaki leaders by planting an infested koiki fruit, bomb, etc So, I was able to plant a cinder bomb or grenade in a brazier to kill one of them, which was triggered after I walked away (and once while I was in front of the brazier and the guy wasn't- bugged, but still worked). I've planted the infest koiki fruit in the bowl during several attempts across two playthroughs but nothing ever happened after that. How do you complete this? Do you have to wait? Also, the guy with the construct I couldn't figure out either. Any tips?

On my first playthrough I stumbled upon the island, went in through the left eye and chatted with a dude then went around the corner and was attacked by hostiles, for the rest of my way fighting my way in. Pretty sure I killed Kaali myself ("why does that name sound familiar? Oh well") How did you guys get a quest from Nemnok? Does the front entrance not make them hostile? Sneaking by didn't seem like an option. Just curious because I'm on my second playthrough and want to try it differently

companions rank
fortuntek replied to fly2fishs's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I like Maia's personality but agreed, mechanically she just doesn't fit into a party. Also her romantic dialogue is off-putting... Will most likely avoid in the future -
Just discovered my Watcher has Effigy's Resentment: Devil of Caroc, +1 DEX, +1 PEN However, when you respec your Watcher at a merchant and reset to level 1, it also removes this ability permanently Details: The +1 PEN is conditional and not in effect in my testing, so I assumed it is melee only and doesn't stack/is getting cancelled out by Hammering Thoughts... but when I respec my character it removes the Effigy's Resentment bonuses altogether. Save/reload and re-tried, same thing.

Other than that, while I'm desperately in love with this game even I must admit much of the tone of dialogue, especially companion dialogue, is lighter and more prone to archetypes. I think maybe they were going for a more BG2 vibe without losing too much of the serious tone but it came off a bit weird to me. I do still quite like them and the dialogue is very entertaining but from what you've said it may not be your ideal. I'd still highly recommend though In terms of the setting, it's just great. PoE1 set on the high seas, it benefits a lot from the vibrance if the world and the sense of adventure it provides. Really well done.

I can't find..
fortuntek replied to E.RedMark's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Druid/Monk (Ascetic) is an awesome choice. Someone here could probably explain why better than me Basically just pick every melee ability with speed and shock damage Edit: oh, and by Druid I mean Shifter specifically but the idea works with any Druid subclass -
I am actually shocked. Didn't Josh specifically say they weren't doing this? Also are you on the beta branch for the upcoming patch by any chance? Because otherwise I feel like more people would have reported this edit: well look at that! just checked and my second playthrough has Effigy's Resentment: Devil of Caroc, +1 Dex, +1 Penetration. I am sort of kind of maybe sure that wasn't there before
