First impressions thread!
Thank you! That clears it up. I've had 1 and 2 happen before, as well as getting a message about not having enough Mechanic skill, but never before had lockpicks in the inventory, so wasn't sure if you'd actually get a message indicating you need them/more of them (when everything's working correctly).

Request: Pause when Character 'turn' starts
look at the UI elements above their heads, I think if the circle is empty he's ready to go (at least that much I gathered from seeing how combat plays out) I've also noticed a yellow bar (under the green dots beside that circle - the dots indicate your stamina) that rapidly diminishes. I assumed this indicated when the character was ready to act again.

First impressions thread!
Can you elaborate here? I never actually got lockpicks for my character until the third one, when I was able to use the grappling hook. I only found lockpicks after crossing the broken bridge. Ironically, I was able to pick the lock in the door leading to the soul cage, but decided to try the grappling hook instead of going through the door. Ironically, having finally found lockpicks, by the time I got around to the other locked entrance to the soul cage, I had the proper key to unlock the doors. The point of the above ramble is just so you understand why I'm asking for clarity: do you mean lockpicks are bugged and will sometimes work (and is there a message to indicate you have to use them), or that lockpicking in general is buggy and that lockpicks never work? Hope that's clear.

Grimoire - how to add spells?
Exactly, although I believe I read somewhere way back that in order to switch grimoires, you're going to burn off your turn/move for that 'round' of combat.

After having played the beta, list your main things you want OE feedback on
Ink Blot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Funny, I just read that post! (I assume it was the same one - the one about Sucky and Tagalong). Later on it's pointed out that the attributes are not fully balanced yet, so much could change before the final release.

Skaen bridge does not react to grappling hook
No, it will work, but I'm not sure of the conditions for getting to work. I had this issue with the first two characters I played. But on the third one, it worked. I did a few things differently on the third character, although I can't tell what made the difference. Anyway, what I did for this character was: - never used the 'Take All' option when grabbing loot. Always dragged and dropped it one piece at a time into the inventory. - saved only twice before getting down to the bridge - when exiting the game, I shut down Steam entirely. - when loading a game, load only from the main menu (if you need to reload while in play, use the 'Quit' option, then load from the main menu) I'm not sure which of these, if any, may have affected that trigger. But I was able to use the grappling hook on that run.

The General Suggestions Thread
Not that I recall. But I'm sure it has to do with the game mechanics, which are very similar to D&D 4th Edition, where your powers/abilities/spells/talents are based on unlimited/per encounter/per day uses. Restricting resting means you can't have unlimited uses of your most powerful abilities. As well, they wanted to limit the ability to heal health damage, which can only be healed by resting.

Ink Blot replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)In relation to this, I'd ask: why the decision for no XP for kills, when the vast majority of spells/abilities/talents are geared towards combat effectiveness? To me this makes little sense. You get a shedload of talents/skills/abilities that are geared towards combat, yet you get no XP awards for... combat. Note that I actually don't mind the XP system in PoE, but I'm wondering what the thinking was on this.

The General Suggestions Thread
Not sure if anyone else out there is as dense as I am, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to add camping supplies to your total in order to be able to rest more than three times in the beta. Finally figured out it happens automatically when you give them to your main character. Ye gods, I've found a total of 6 or 7 bundles of supplies in all the runs I've done so far, and every time it was one of the NPCs that picked them up. And there I was, scratching my head wondering how on earth to add them to the total. Finally found out last night when moving things around in the inventory. So yeah, my suggestion. assuming this isn't already in the works, is no matter who in the party picks them up, just add them to the camping supply total automatically instead of having to move them into the main character's inventory.

Issues in the menu.
Um, why would you let that bother you? Headbomb's just another forum member just like you. Why punish Obsidian for what Headbomb said? For the record, I don't think Headbomb was being rude either. Just letting you know these were known issues. I try to search out anything I'm reporting as a bug, using the Search function, but I'm pretty sure I've reported a few that are known as well. It's inevitably going to happen.

Unable to move character and Character sheet garble
Bumping this because I get the same issue with the character sheet on my latest character, although I don't have an issue moving the character. If you hit TAB, it will clear up the garble, but it doesn't make the character's portrait appear (note in the screenie provided by DCParry that there is no portrait). TAB will allow you to switch from one party member to the next. However, no portraits show, and there is also no character name at the top (the name field just simply says 'Character Name') As well, all the info listed under the character portrait remains exactly the same for all characters when you TAB through them. all quests and tasks gone from journal
Ugh. Yeah, I went through that too, Sorry I forgot to mention it. Make sure you load your saves from them main menu always. I found that fixed it for me.

all quests and tasks gone from journal
When you load a game, load from the main menu (hit 'Quit', then choose 'Load' from that menu). Don't load from the menu you get when you just hit ESC. This should help mitigate the issue.

BUG: Level up during combat causes black screen and freezes
[Description] Inadvertently hit the level up icon during combat on a character that was knocked unconscious. Level up screen popped up, so I thought "What the hell" and went through the process. When I hit next after distributing the skill points, I got a black screen. Gauntlet cursor was still visible and I could move it around, and when I hovered the cursor over the area where the icons would be in the top middle of the screen (Class talents gained?), the popup descriptions of the class talents/abilities gained appeared. Other than that I couldn't do anything. No keyboard buttons worked (such as ESC), and I couldn't click anywhere to get out of it. Had to CTRL+ALT+DEL in order to exit the screen. [DETAILS] Not sure I want to try to duplicate this, as I played for a couple hours without saving before this happened. If I get into a situation like that again where I have a character down but they have enough XP to level up, I may give it a shot. [Expected behaviour] I would expect either that the level up would be completed or, more sensibly, that the level up function would be disabled during combat.
