  1. I just find it weird when a game allows players complete control over the development of everyone who joins their rag tag band of scoundrels.
  2. Mounts are beyond the scope of the game. I would rather they focus on intense, tactical party combat instead of a mounted combat simulator.
  3. Epic Battles could be with anything as long as it is challenging. My favorite battle in Drakensang: Dark Eye is pretty early on, against a giant wolf rat and her brood. Doing the encounter as soon as the dungeon with it becomes available is really hard yet really rewarding as well. I guess that is the key to making enjoyable legendary encounters, challenge and reward.
  4. I bet if they announced a stretch goal for mod tools to be developed and released after the game is finished they would get a lot more pledges. The mod tools don't need to be present on launch day, just the fact that they will be made gives encouragement.
  5. Err... ancient Rome, Greece, and China? Put those in the context of the medieval Europe and that's what you'll have. Nah, I am talking about the ones where everything was better in the extinct civilization. Our world progressed after those empires died out, but in a lot of fantasy worlds progress is halted or regresses.
  6. the injury system of Drakensang: the Dark Eye (i think that was it) had combatants being crippled quite often, but as long as the party contained some form of advanced healing ability, be it magical or skill, they could be healed rather easily outside of combat. Healing critical injuries had a really long cast time so it was impractical to use during many fights, but at least it was possible. If the party ran out of healing supplies and had no magical healer they would have to go back to town. I think that would work well for this game.
  7. I want a fantasy setting where there may be lost civilizations, but society is advancing instead of stagnating or regressing. I want to see people getting **** done. i want the marvels of the world to unfold before my character's eyes instead of found in some dusty tome or overgrown ruin. What I am sick of are lost civilizations that were extremely advanced and prolific. If they were really advanced then why is the current setting basicly the recovery from an apocalypse. Lord of the Rings was that and it annoyed me when books would harp on and on about the glories of the past.
  8. Give the ability to summon anything... but the higher level it is the less likely it will be under your control. "Hey, Bob! Is that a big black flying lizard comming out of that portal?! OMG its eating my leg!"
  9. I would prefer a 'holy' class that deals in being the hand of their god. Since the gods are obfuscating the nature of souls and like manipulating mere mortals, the clerics could posess illusion and enchantment magics!
  10. Arcanum, Fallout 1/2, Drakensang, NWN 2, etc... style character creation would make me happy. Lots of options and some background traits that effects the starting experience.
  11. I am pretty sure that Fargo and others have stated that creating and distributing physical copies to retailers costs around $10 million.
  12. I don't really care about what an epic item is as long as it has a great backstory. Bonus points if it has really unusual, yet oddly awesome, properties.
  13. Speaking in absolutes when arguing opinions is a good exercise in beating dead horses.
  14. As long as there is no Biowarian 'I win' option in each conversation to keep companions from leaving. There should be no logical way to talk an NPC into doing something against it's values and expect it to stick with you through the end. Sure some companions would be more malleable than others, but there should always be a line that when crossed can not be undone. EDIT: It would be awesome if the offended companion that leaves tells of your exploits and motives to organizations/factions opposed to your goals. It could add extra challenge when the player burns bridges!
  15. I voted no, because Obsidian has expressed their desire to craft a deeply personal experience. I just don't see how creating a custom group would add to the experience of role playing a single character. I didn't care for the groups I made in the IWD series because it seems rather rediculous to roleplay an entire party instead of a single character. Granted IWD gets away with it because the series is really just an action focused dungeon crawl. I lose my personal connection to the avatars, but I guess that is just my problem. From my perspective I would prefer not to have something added that does not enhance the experience Obsidian hopes to craft. Especially if the recruitable NPCs develop without the player's control. I prefer not role playing every character that joins my avatar in the adventure because it just breaks my immersion to have to tell independent characters how to behave when they are supposed to have thier own personalities and goals. BG party members kind of felt wierd to me how they didn't just level up on their own.
  16. Besides the 'boobplate' I do not see anything wrong with the concept art. Looks fine to me. The interview wasn't very insightful, but at least it shed light on a lesser known Obsidian employee.
  17. I bought mulitple copies of PS:T and BG 2 back in the day, but I nevver tried the IWD series until recently because I am not a huge fan of pure dungeon crawlers. IWD had much better dungeon design than the others and the combat was enjoyable enough for me to finish the games. I have played the original Fallout games and BG ones more times than I can remember and enjoyed them tremendously. I liked the Fallout series more though, but that is just me prefering a focus on a single character over parties.
  18. Back when I played WoW I took pride in my rag-tag mish-mash of fugly armor. It showed where I had been and what I was able to accomplish. A full set of matching gear looks so boring... like your character got their equipment out of a retail catalog. I would prefer if they did not make the game a 'doll dressing' simulator.
  19. I don't want a flea magnet (werewolf) or glitter princess (vampire) mode. Maybe as a stretch goal I would support it. It would take a bit of effort to put in the models, animations, NPC reactions, etc...
  20. FedEx quests are fine if they incorporate puzzles/mazes/combat into them. Extreme mail delivery!
  21. I would rather have Obsidian make well developed characters to interact with. What they choose to do with their naughty bits should be inconsequintial. NPCs defined by their sexuality are hard to take seriously... just like real people.
  22. Uhhuh, doesn't belong eh? Just like it didn't belong in those classic Infinity Engine games that had it via character import? IWD was the only series with a new game+ feature and that was a dungeon crawler. It works for ARPGs that are all about combat. If there is no multiplayer then there is no need for import/export. If you want to start with all the xp, gold, and loot from a previous game you can just cheat it in, or mod it.
  23. I really do not want a lockpicking simulator. Just like I would prefer it not being a dating simulator or house decorating simulator.
  24. DA:O style intros are too restrictive. I would rather have the ability to imagine any backstory instead of being told what my story is. DA:O intros were entertaining, but not good for RPGs. Although, they could provide a lot of vague background text like in Arcanum.
