Game crashes in "Old City Lift"

Hello McBrain, I'm sorry you got a crash during your playthrough in the Old City. When you crashed a folder labeled with the date and time should have generated that would have also had the error.log and the crash.dmp in it along with the output_log.txt file you provided. Would you be able to send those to me as well as those have the deeper details that tell the programmers what is causing this issue. If you could either attach those here or send them to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum user name and a link to this thread to be used as a reference, that would be amazing! Thank you, and sorry for the inconvenience this crash is causing. -
Hello Walter, I'm sorry you are having trouble with the difficulty settings being stuck. We haven't been seeing that occur here on Ubuntu either. My first suggestion would be backing up any saves and uninstalling/reinstalling the game to get those settings to reset. If that doesn't work, would you be able to reproduce the issue and attempt to click on those buttons and then send us a copy of your Player.log. If needed you can find this log in the location listed below. Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Obsidian Entertainment/Pillars of Eternity II/Player.log If you could either attach that file here or send it to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum user name and a link to this thread to be used as a reference, I'll take it and send it to the programmers to take a look at and see if they can glean any information out of it. random encounters in nekataka

Hey everyone! We have been testing with multiple saves in-house and are able to get random encounters to trigger around Neketaka. The rate at which they occur is relatively low so as not to inundate folks with nonstop encounters like we had during the early stages of development and release. There are also prerequisites for many of the encounters that must be fulfilled in order to trigger them to have that chance to occur. Also note that if you run into an encounter and resolve it, it will not occur again so as not to make the story seem like the same things are continuously occurring over and over again. We still have folks testing these while they continue to do full playthroughs during their tests on DLC content, to see if they start to run into this issue. If they do and can get a reliable reproduction case, then they will absolutely get a fix for it. If you have a save file where you are confident that a particular encounter should be firing, but isn't for some reason, feel free to send that to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum user name and a link to this thread to be used as a reference and I'll send it off to the team to use during their investigation. Hello Stealth! Thank you for reporting this to us! Fortunately this issue has been reported and is already being investigated for a potential future fix. If you notice any other items in game that also cause your game to freeze like this, please let us know so we can look into those as well. If you run into a problem where you have the item equipped and can no longer remove it due to the freeze, please let me know as my computer does not have this issue and I can remove it for you. @Enoch Do you happen to have a save file where this is occurring that you could send to me at support@obsidian.net? We can use our own, but I also like to have the team test saves that definitely have the issue occurring. If needed, you can find instructions on where the saves are kept here. Thanks Enoch! -
Hey Wormerine! I put in a report to test this just in case. It's working for me currently, but I feel like that may have happened for me in the past. Then again I alt tab a LOT, so we shall see. Thanks for the heads up!

[4.0]Merchant ships don't respawn

Hey everyone, One of the programmers put in a fix that should force the system to only charge once so it should be good for the 4.0 patch. If any of you are still having the issue in 4.0 please let me know so I can let them know if the fix failed for some reason. In regards to the finances, if you'd like Sapient, if the save I have of yours is still up to date, I can toss some cash in there and remove the achievement blocker with the program BMac made to unlock those. Otherwise, if you send me an updated save I can do it to that one instead. Thanks again everyone!

Hello Sylph, I'm sorry you're having troubles with the relationships not progressing during your playthrough. I actually received another similar issue to this from another user for Aloth earlier this week. I'd like to put a report together for this as well, but don't see the attached save file. Would you mind sending the save to support@obsidian.net so I can attach it to the bug report so the team can take a look at it and see what might be going wrong? Hello Occupant, I'm sorry Deadfire isn't recognizing your save files. Would you be able to reproduce the issue and then send the output_log.txt file and a group of some affected saves to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum username and a link to this thread as a reference so we can test them on our side and see if we can reproduce the issue? If needed, you can find instructions on how to obtain the output_log.txt file here. I'm also curious as to what game version your copy is currently running. This should be displayed in the top right of the Title Menu. (ex. v3.1.1.0032 LAX12ABCDEF -steam) Thank you Occupant, and sorry for the inconvenience this is causing your playthrough.

Hello Creslin, Thank you for letting us know about this. When you crashed, did it send you back to the Title Menu or did it shut down Deadfire and put you back at your desktop? If it sent you back to the desktop it would generate some crash logs that could be very helpful in seeing what may have been the cause and something the Programming team can try to fix. If that is the case, if you could send us the output_log.txt, crash.dmp, and error.log that would be amazing! If needed, you can find instructions on where to find these here. If you could send those to me at support@obsidian.net I would be greatly obliged. In the event it only took you to the main menu then you need not worry about sending us the other content as it would not have generated. If it does send you to the Title Menu like that again, the output_log.txt will still be helpful to give us a little insight into where and what may have been occurring. The output_log.txt file resets every time the game is reopened, so no worries if you have already closed and reopened the game. Thanks again for reporting this to us Creslin, we will look out for other instances of this occurring in the 4.0 update!

Hello Veritas, I'm sorry your Cipher isn't gaining the focus they should be gaining. Would you be able to provide me with a save where this is occurring for you? The team is going to test their own, but in the event they can't reproduce the issue, I'd like them to have a sample where the issue is occurring. Error on Searching Isolated Beach

Also, thank you for the super thorough job of getting us all of the necessary data the Programming team needs to investigate this issue. I have put it all together in a report and sent it to the QA and Programming teams to being their investigation so they can see what the cause of this would be and see what they can do for a fix. Hello again Sapient, I'm sorry the chest is giving you trouble. When testing this in my own game I am able to unlock the chest properly. The chest is still considered stealing, but I can indeed take the contents out. Would you be able to provide me a save where this is occurring for you so we can test to see what is going on in your particular case? Hello Sh13hp8062, I'm sorry you are running into crashes during your playthrough. Would you be able to send us the other contents of those crash folders and a save file as well? The output_logs help, but the crash.dmp and error.log give more specific information to the programmers so they can see exactly what is going on that would cause a crash. If you are able to get those and either attach them here or email them to me at support@obsidian.net along with your forum user name and a link to this thread that would be amazing. Also, both logs showed the crash occurring loading into the same area in the Slums. Are you only crashing there or is your game crashing in other locations as well? In the meantime I'll be putting a report together with these output_log.txt files so the programmers can get started. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.

Problem with graphics

Hello Bartix, I'm sorry your map seems to have turned into some kind of puzzle by the look of it. Would you be able to first try what Daled recommended as that tends to fix most corrupted or missing file issues. If that doesn't help, I'd recommend making sure your game, graphics drivers, and operating system are all up to date. If none of that fixes the issue for you, then if you could reproduce the issue and send us a copy of your output_log.txt as well as a save in Queen's Berth where this is occurring, that would be great! Magistrate's Cudgel bug?

Hey Sapient, Based on what you've said it sounds like a bug. I put a report in to have this investigated so the QA and Systems Design teams can confirm that the cudgel is acting improper and see if they can get a fix in. Thank you for reporting this to us!
