  1. gonna give you benefit of doubt and assume you are confusing ben hur remakes. 1959 were remake o' 1925. HA! Good Fun! ps and there were a 1907 version, before amentep corrects us, but it were a short.

  2. Another day, another case of 40-50 people replying to a e-mailing list saying 'Remove Me'. That was high point of day, really.

  5. Thunderstorms can be a bit crazy in Brisbane at times. Haven’t had good ones recently, (only noticeable one was 71.000 lightning strikes) but 6-7 years ago I managed to catch a few minutes of light show on video. It was non stop lightning over a weekend, from Friday night to Sunday night. 200.000+ lightning strikes in 48 hours over the city All of the state got to feel the static that year (from the news) @majestic look at the bright side, if ocean levels rise significantly, lots of Austria will suddenly become attractive beach properties

  6. I feel you, I didn't have winds or anything like that, but I had over 100+ lightningstrikes a minute for about 45 minutes yesterday, it was awesome and I loved every minute of it

  9. No, no. The movie makes perfect sense. I'll show you how! The forum software ate my post, but luckily I saved it! Looks like that crap happens when you start typing and someone posts and the forum creates a new page out of it. Stupid forum software. It then tries to post on the old page and cannot because it is full, and simply eats the post. Here's the post: So, five minutes of processing, I end up with an idea, and, believe it or not, the movie actually cleared up a WHOLE LOT of the things that were a bit weird in the show. No, really, I'm... serious. Have another essay! Yay! Done reading? Too long? Here's a TL;DR: edit: Anyway, that's my take on the whole thing. It might mean something else entirely, it was set up to be open to interpretation after all, but the pieces fit neatly together. As much as they can. I also edited the text a bit where my stream of consciousness failed to produce coherent sentences.

  11. I have no issue with someone doing another take on We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, the mistake was also calling it Total Recall. I get why they did ($$) but that immediately invites comparison with Verhoeven's masterpiece.

  14. we could name a few more but ben-hur is the one which always leaps to mind when this issue is raised and you had that covered. weren't gonna quibble once the point were made. in gd's defense, am suspecting many folks aren't gonna realize a few remakes is remakes. stuff like little shop of horrors and insomnia? horror films get overlooked, so the thing and the fly is possible ignored. also, am knowing there is fans o' internal affairs, but the departed were superior in every way, but again, am suspecting at least a few folks don't know or forget the scorsese film is a remake. regardless, ben hur were actual more than enough for us. HA! Good Fun!

  16. edit 2: edit 3: I also felt a lot like Charlie does while watching this anime. Here's the full episode, just in case someone here hasn't seen it. The others are good too, but three is clearly the best. Feel free to disagree, but know that you're wrong.

  17. The Man Who Knew Too Much? House of Wax? Ben-Hur? The Hammer remakes of the Universal horror films? Casino Royale? That said, I'm surprised they remade Total Recall rather than take the basic idea (someone goes to Rekall, gets a vacation, are things real or not after that?) and build a new movie out of it. Seems like the perfect set-up for a series of loosely related films, and my understanding of the 2012 film is that its different enough plotwise that they could have probably done it had they not chose to use the names from the original film and a few other story elements.

  18. Chanter MCs are always fun. However, if you are going for a loremaster, I'd recommend that you go with Bellower or Skald with a vanilla mage rather than a BM. The reason for this recommendation is with BM you can't empower attacks, so you'd not be able to use Sasha's Singing Scimitar to its full advantage. If you use the Grimoire of Vaprous Wizardry and Rekvu's Fractured Casque you'll have tons of spells to cast, as well as the renewble chanter invocations. However, if you want to be more melee oriented, I'd recommend a BM/soul blade hierophant. It's a lot of fun in my experience, and using soul annihilation with Citzal's lance is great.

  20. I wish Hollywood wouldn't remake Paul Verhoeven's classics. What are the odds the new director's vision and execution will be better than Verhoeven's? Practically nil. Remake movies that had a good premise but came up short on implementation, not movies that are already amazing and still absolutely hold up.

  25. Ya true. I’ve been mowed down by mass range fire at lvl 9 with like 100 plus deflection. So you are right. for the attributes I’m thinking good might MAX Per and good Resolve, flat INT because using those items and the shields skill to raise it high. maybe I’m wrong here but if you want to attempt SI like i do I’ll need a good Res score before items. This build would be good skipping it as a party tank but I’m attempting to get some damage out of it (maybe I shouldn’t) The melee autos aren’t bad but they are too slow. If you don’t go SI you can skip RES maybe since you have a lot of deflection already? now if I could only last long enough on my Ironman run/POTD to full flesh out the build. I’m avoiding like the plague any fight until like level 10 lol. On Maje Island I skipped every fight save the spirit fight before the adra pillar lol. I’m not using any BBs and playing Berath and Skans Challenge. Until I have a party Rez I’m terrified. Those Gore’s by the Boars are so RNG. Even with a max deflection guy they have a 50% of landing. And if you miss the interrupt or get hit while healers are on recovery it’s lights out. I owned the crystal spider with an antidote lol

  27. No green skies, but we've had the apocalpyse come and go several times recently. Including a tornado not far away from where I live (like 80 miles or so). I can't recall an F4 level tornado that happened here before, ever. Lots of hailstorms with egg-sized chunks of ice, floodings with rivers eight meters above their usual levels... yeah, 's been pretty wild.

  28. Ask Electronic Arts how much their reputation matters to them... Ok, just kidding. For some companies, it's all weighed up in their chart of accounts. Acceptable losses if other gains makes up for it. I must be getting soft. Sat up all night watching the GW2 live stream on twitch together with a lot of guildies on Discord. Got to bed around 4am Got some questions answered and some questions just got what I would consider teaser responses. From memory: Taking place in Cantha (already knew that). Adding a new mount. A two person mount this time, with one driver and one gunner. It's a siege turtle. Yes, Mad Max meet Aqua World. Also mentioned in passing as useable in a WvW context. Skiffs. Not only in the new area, but old areas to be retrofitted with the ability to sail around on your small boats. Fishing. Multiplayer fishing too. 200+ different fish species to be caught all over the world (retroactively adding catchable fish to existing areas) New guild hall. A small paradise like island with a distinct Asian theme. Lots of water features and lush greenery. DirectX 11 support to be beta tested and hopefully released before the expansion. Significant rework to how match ups works in WvW. The aim being to let players form alliances between their guilds and then pitch alliances against each other rather than the current server vs. server (the guild wars are truly coming). To be beta tested and hopefully released before the expansion. 9 new elite specializations. Only one was shown (a new Mesmer specialization). Four public beta test sessions scheduled, the first one in a few weeks time. Each of the first three sessions to test 3 specs each and the fourth to test all 9 together. New strike missions (think Raid 'Lite') and new encounter mechanics in general, scaling enemies by adding more abilities rather than turning then into hit point sponges with increased damage output. Five new mastery tracks, of which the first three are to improve your fishing, skiff piloting and siege turtle skills. The last two to be revealed later. I probably forgot a lot of details because it was a bit late and I haven't watched it again. Open for pre-purchase now. Release date currently February 2022. Edit: There was something too about the use of all that jade they have. When the human gods had a falling out with each other, one of the collateral damages was the ocean around Cantha got turned into solid jade (hence the name 'The Jade Sea'). Apparently this very magically charged jade has given rise to a new form for technology. An interesting scene towards the end of the new trailer shows a woman in something that looks like a server room, with a mix of magic, steam punk and green glowing jade everywhere.

  29. You would gain a wound and some health when berserker frenzy expires. But, as Boeroer explained, it wouldn't be very impactful since you can't shorten the duration of the negative effect of berserker frenzy with high RES, Clarity of Agony and Mohora wraps. The way forbidden fist builds typically work is you dramatically minimize hostile effects (including the FF curse) so that you suffer very little harm from them while gaining a wound & healing. With a proper build, you'll actually want to get afflicted (by walking into tanglefoot or web spells) since they overall benefit you. This however doesn't work with berserker frenzy. So it's probably not the best combo. A berserker/nalpazca ravager however is great. So long as you keep yourself drugged, you'll be overflowing with wounds. And the drugs can help mitigate the berserker's downsides; svef will prevent confusion, while white leaf with give you nice healing to help mitigate frenzy's self-damage.

  30. Yeah, I'm not sure what the mental block with CCS is - when I muster up the energy and motivation, it always continues to be the most amazing show that I utterly adore, but for some reason, it's so difficult to get past that. I think I'll have more in me next week to get a few episodes done. The plot has been relatively dark and certainly much more serious than I expected, but it doesn't feel as dark as you might necessarily expect based on how I described it. In addition to the show just feeling more old-fashioned than you might expect (in terms of tone and style, it really feels more like something closer to...say, Heidi than like...Sailor Moon, if that makes any sense), I think the biggest thing that prevents it from feeling more dark is that the uncle is like moustache-twirlingly evil while also being an utter baboon, and I would bet my life on him biting it in some way sooner or later here because this just cannot stand. Oh, and here's the intro if you want to watch it (note: watch in video player, not browser, because my video recorder decided to encode in x265 instead of x264 and apparently neither Firefox nor Chrome know how to play x265 or at least neither of mine do): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/tft08mgc1oe0l8c/OSwMO1UqEr.mp4 I certainly didn't expect all this terrible stuff to happen right away with a silly, gentle intro like that, . (e): On top of x265 not playing in browsers, it appears to be a little choppy - I see some funky chugging and frame skipping in that recording. Grr!

  31. Now only the movie is left, but I don't... nah, not going to do that one now. Lali-ho! Normally I'd post about what I've just seen now, but I'll sleep over it. The door reminded me of the Door in Charlie the Unicorn, episode three.

  36. Still nothing wrong with getting a wage that allows you and your partner to survive without slaving away at two jobs each, simultaneously and then have the bank seize your home when little George breaks his leg in a freak accident. The way it works at the moment, in many parts of the world (including parts of the US) is very similar to the feudal system, where you're completely at the mercy of your liege and their whims. Including financial institutions happily gambling your money away to get the bonus they need for their CEO's second yacht. Edit: I doubt the usual solution to this problem would be appreciated... Roll them in pitch and torch them or off to the Guillotine once enough is enough. Edit2: UBI is never going to work as a patch on the problem, it will only lead to explosive inflation and the top 1% getting richer still, while the rest keep getting poorer.

  37. Did a quick test. Pulsing spells work (cool) - but unfortunately the imbue spells of an Arcane Archer don't seem to count. Neither as spells for the charm nor as weapon attacks for the other procs of the wand. Too bad...

  38. Distracting myself with getting back on the crafty times train... London Comic-Con is back in the real-world come October, so re-working some elements, repairing, and trying a few fresh things out. Printing, Sanding, Priming... Putting that base paint layer... Then bringing out some of the details... Actually thinking I might try using the solid waist/ab pieces of the armour to make silicon mold, and try creating some semi-rigid rubber versions just to make it easier to bend/sit down in. Although I have no idea of what that would involve or added costs. Possibly some time to research.

  39. Another idea is building carts pulled by tamed ladybugs. It could be a tier 1 or tier 2 transportation feature on the way to trains, which would be a higher tier.

  40. I think this could be a thing but i belive there is already a easy way i see to move alot of things . Pet ants with a follow option this would build upon the ant armor itself , and build on the pet system in the works. More over the ability to mount a soldier ant i think sticks with the theme more then adding in a train. This is just my take on it i rather see old assest used before we move to far forward.
