What seems to be the root of the problem is that the wrong Replacement Token was used in several of the Deadfire's translations. A replacement token is basically a small bit of code in the text string that's dynamically filled with a specified bit of information sourced from the gamedata the text applies to. Such as adding a numerical value. This allows for the game to reuse a single piece of text "{0:extravalue:percent} Melee Damage for each Engaged target" for each possible instance, rather needing multiples copies. Anyway, that is all to say that in this instance the French translation for this text incorrectly uses {0:value:percentbonus} instead of {0:extravalue:percent} which is why the value in game is shown as 0%. "statuseffects.stringtable" and the entry with the mistake seems to be "204". Something like this should work: <Entry> <ID>204</ID> <DefaultText>{0:extravalue:percent} aux dégâts de corps à corps pour chaque cible engagée</DefaultText> <FemaleText /> </Entry> The "Ennemis engagés +2" part will come from another stringtable entry which the game combines with the previous entry at runtime. I can't find the ID for it at the moment, but I'm pretty sure it is possible to override it. If that's something you need to make changes to let me know and I'll try to track it down.2 points

My friend, have you not heard the good news about The Prosperity Gospel? God wants you to be wealthy, and if you aren't, it's because you're a dirty sinner. Let's be honest here, strip away the name 'Jesus' from the teachings and an awful lot of Christians would regard them as being 'woke marxism'.1 point

yeah, this ain't even the most terrible time in US history... which is part o' what makes it so disappointing. for gawd's sake, the last time the alien enemies act were used were ww2 when we sent japanese american citizens to internment camps, sometimes for years. the Court at the time said doing so were okie dokie (only three dissents) and the move was popular with the US public. is so much bad and forgotten history. the patriot act were passed overwhelming and bipartisan in 2001, 'cause when people is afraid, they cheerful hand over freedom. the unfair lending practices which quietly has led to massive income disparity 'tween races in this country were only final made illegal in the seventies and while it persists in many places even today, much o' it were curbed by the 80s... so we likely only need a few more generations to see fundamental change as home ownership leads to generational wealth and you functional need wait for the death of home owners to see any kind o' change. too terrible to believe, not so long ago, the government were doing coercive sterilizations o' native american women. as recent as the 70s we had the weather underground and a smidge previous were that little kerfuffle at the pentagon. how does people not know just how bad were race relations in the 60s? heck, if you are too lazy to learn history, then maybe go ahead and watch mississippi burning. mccarthyism. american nazis holding rallies at madison square garden on the eve of ww2. the use of the sedition and espionage acts. the great depression. chinese exclusion. company towns and union busting. and yeah, we already survived a civil war, although we are still dealing with the scars and the never-healed wounds. in fact, the only part o' all this which genuine shocks us is that we never thought americans would accept trumpism w/o major economic upheaval or a war. bunch o' snowflakes. 'course with trump trying to make stagflation great again, we might just get the economic upheaval. have mentioned more than once just how similar our current situation is to the 1920s. post global pandemic we saw massive income disparity and social unrest with people afraid o' change. at the time, many people, unable to make ends meet, were being told how fantabulous were the economy, and that cheesed 'em off more than a little. to fix things, Congress imposed stoopid across the board protective tariffs... take as bad news or good news, but we have been here before, and more than once. HA! Good Fun! ps and the point o' a few o' these appointments has gotta be pretty much nothing but an effort to punk the libs.1 point

Edér likes animals and charging to the frontlines. Difficulty: PotD -------------------------------------------------------------- Class: Fighter -------------------------------------------------------------- Game Version: 3.0+ -------------------------------------------------------------- Race: Meadow Folk -------------------------------------------------------------- Background: The Dyrwood - Farmer -------------------------------------------------------------- Skills: Athletics 9 (base 7, +1 Fighter, +1 Farmer) , Survival 12 (base 10, +1 Fighter, +1 Farmer), some Lore if you want --- Edér is smoking his pipe next to the the gallows tree in Gilded Vale. You need to do Visions and Whispers quest before you can recruit him. Level 1: Knock Down Level 2: Two Weapon Style Level 3: Confident Aim Level 4: Weapon Focus Soldier Level 5: Weapon Specialization Soldier Level 6: Bear's Fortitude Level 7: Armored Grace Level 8: Weapon Mastery Level 9: Disciplined Barrage Level 10: Apprentice's Sneak Attack Level 11: Critical Defense OR Vigorous Defense Level 12: Superior Deflection Level 13: Charge Level 14: Savage Attack Level 15: Triggered Immunity Level 16: Rapid Recovery --- I don't think Edér needs Sword and Shield to be your main tank. Even on PotD. Abilities like Disciplined Barrage and Vigorous Defense are great but they don't last very long because of Edér's Intellect. I tend to choose Criticial Defense over Vigorous Defense because of that. I still pick Disciplined Barrage though. Don't always mindlessly spam Knock Down and try to interrupt enemies with it instead. --- Weapon Set 1: Shatterstar + Godansthunyr or Strike Hard Weapon Set 2: Any ranged weapon from your Weapon Focus I hate how Godansthunyr looks. So I often pick Strike Hard instead but Godansthunyr is the better weapon. Another option is to go Weapon Focus: Knight. There is plenty of good Swords and Battle Axes. Head: Garodh's Chorus Armor: Plate Armor, He Carries Many Scars Neck: Shroud of Mourning Hands: Pilferer's Grip Boots: Boots of Stability Belt: Girdle of Eoten Constitution Rings: Ring of Protection, Ring of Deflection You are looking for Resolve, Constitution, Might. Enchant your armor with Perception. --- It's crucial, especially in the early game, to know how to use chokepoints in the area you are in. Well placed Edér is going to block a whole group of enemies even on PotD. Look for doors, narrow corridors, ... If you feel like you need Edér to tank with a shield, then pick Weapon and Shield Style instead of Two Weapon style and respec later when you are more comfortable without a shield. Later in the game, most of the time, you can just send Edér forward to tank and deal damage. With Charge Edér becomes a lot more fun to play but that is all the way at level 13. Have Potions of Llengrath's Displaced Image ready in your quick slots for more difficult fights. If you want Edér to tank dragons, give him Ilfan Byrngar's Solace. The shield has Preservation: +50 Defenses while Stunned; +50 Defenses while Prone. That's great against dragons. Alternatively you can choose any other piece of gear with the same enchantment. But Ilfan Byrngar's Solace can be obtained more easily and relatively early in the game. Other options are Ring of Thorns, Malina's Boots, Garodh's Chorus, ...1 point

As bad as all this sounds and as many lives are affected negatively, I take slight comfort in this being for a limited time thing. Either term limits or end of lifespan, whichever comes first will put an end to this. What does scare me is the example it sets for those who eventually follow, especially if there are actually smart people among those vying for absolute power without accountability1 point

Some Giant Law Firms Shy Away From Pro Bono Immigration Cases Fearing the wrath of President Trump, some elite law firms are declining pro bono work on lawsuits challenging the administration’s policies. "Lawyers from Gibson Dunn explained that it was afraid of incurring Mr. Trump’s wrath if the firm was associated publicly with a lawsuit that sought to restore legal representation for unaccompanied immigrant children, the five people said. Gibson Dunn is not the only large law firm shying away from immigration litigation." ... "Groups like the Amica Center have long relied on big law firms to provide legions of young lawyers and paralegals who can help prepare cases free of charge. Traditionally, pro bono work has been intended to help the poor and defenseless." ... "Sirine Shebaya, executive director of the National Immigration Project, a nonprofit that litigates cases for immigrants and pushes for their rights, called the large firms’ recent pivots “part of the chilling effect” of Mr. Trump’s executive orders. “It has gotten much harder to get law firms to take a case on pro bono,” Ms. Shebaya said." ... from a may 1 post by yours truly" "so even if trump keeps losing in court, he has effective reduced the pool of potential lawyers willing to take on cases, which makes future trump loses less likely. who do you think is representing the undocumented immigrants in most o' the fed cases? you might be surprised to learn just how much o' pro bono work the big firms do, and the big washington and new york firms trump targeted is known for taking on a noteworthy proportion o' immigration cases as part o' their pro bono portfolios." am aware that the stoopid of trump and his most visible cronies, coupled with repeated examples o' trump 2.0 buffoonery, has made a few people dismissive of this administration's efforts to dismantle a system which took 250 years to build, a democratic republic which were only recent approaching the promise of founding documents such as the declaration of independence and the bill of rights. the sh!te going on in plain view is serious, sinister and surprisingly well organized. hopefully the all too numerous indifferent, cynical and uninformed US citizens wake up before they realize that what is broken cannot always be fixed. and no, biden requesting and scotus allowing the fed to regulate ghost guns is so not analogous to what is going on in trump 2.0... just in case @Guard Dogis still following this thread. maybe gd don't like what biden did and he likely disagrees with the outcome by the Court, but the feds didn't resort to dirty tricks and the Court didn't create new law just to punish gd. so not the same. and speaking of... Federal court rules Rümeysa Öztürk must be transferred to detention in Vermont trump 2.0 has been using bs excuses to transfer detainees to louisiana and texas where there is judges more accommodating o' the administration. by physical moving individuals such as rumeysa, asap and just before judges and lawyers in ny, maryland and vermont may react, trump 2.0 has been, until now, successful avoiding the jurisdictional limits o' court orders. am knowing that with all the bad news coming day after day, forcing the return o' the tufts student to vermont doesn't feel like a major win, but it is a bigger deal than it seems, particular if other courts follow suit. the trump 2.0 habeas shell game shennanigans were something we foresaw, but perhaps courts will prevent that kinda thing from happening henceforth. Shields (medium and large ones) lower your accuracy universally. Spells, chants, weapon attacks etc.: it all suffers from the shield malus. Usually nothing besides your weapon attacks profit from single weapon usage (+12 accuracy). Offensive chants are an exception (and most likely that's an oversight and not intended). Weapon quality etc. does not influence chants' accuracy. Also one handed style (crot conversion) doesn't work. Only the single one handed weapon usage that gives +12 ACC works. I don't remember if all offensive chants without exception profit from the +12 accuracy. Dragon Thrashed certainly does profit. Iirc "Come Soft Winds" also does - so I assume the frightening "Lo" chant also works like that. But that's easy to check in the combat log.1 point

Hi folks. Just logged in this evening, and wow, thanks Boeroer and Chaospread, this is really amazing information. I'll just reply here to some of the ideas which I'm really taken with: Chanters weapons: The funny thing is that after reading your suggestion, I now do remember reading a post a while ago (I think by you, Boeroer, now I think about it) about how the one handed single weapon bonus grants +12 accuracy for offensive chants, but I had completely forgotten about that. I've been operating under the assumption that chants, like spells, are completely unrelated to weapon accuracy. I presume this applies to "Lo, their endless host, the harbingers of doom," which I've been using whilst carrying a large shield, not realising it was suffering a -8 accuracy because of the large shield when I could have had +12 accuracy without it (so a relative increase of 20 accuracy). I'll drop the shield and just use a hatchet and heavy armour for my #1 weapon slot. So can I check with you, what exactly does effect accuracy on offensive chants? If they get the +12 bonus from carrying just a one-handed weapon, and they suffer the shield accuracy penalty, do they also get any accuracy bonus from the weapon itself for their chants, or from weapon focus (e.g. would they get the +17 accuracy bonus from measured restraint). And I presume this only applies to chanter's chants and not to chanter's invocations? (Out of interest, does this apply in Deadfire as well?) Kind Wayfarer: Great advice. I'll switch to two heavy hitting one-handers, even if they are just fine without being uniques. Ranger: I'm actually really close to Persistence as I cleared my way through the ogres on level 3 yesterday, so I'll make a dash for that this evening! Cipher: I'll go get Borresaine now. Thanks again! I do love the fantasy of guns and magic (I'm a big fan of the powder mage series of novels) and in previous runs I've tried to make guns work on a cipher, but it does seem to be a strategy that only works comfortably with extra weapon slots. For example, in Deadfire, I had a cipher/rogue which opened with an arquebus, but then had 2 other ranged weapons to switch to so as to cover multiple damage types (I recall that a lot of enemies had pierce immunity in Deadfire; I'm not sure if that's such an issue in POE 1). I'll probably just not use guns this run unless I find a really good one. Durance: Good tip regarding using arquebus (maybe I get that guns and magic fantasy after all, just on the priest rather than cipher ). Lashes: Yep, I'm going for the fire lashes and Scion of Flames for my Paladin. Enchanting non-uniques: That's clever. It hadn't occurred to me to put some slaying enchants on good non-uniques in order to create some specific-enemy-type killers. And the idea of putting some other lash types on weapons to give more flexibility for specifically resistant enemies is good. Thanks again Boeroer and Chaospread!1 point

Hello everyone ! First time posting in the forum. I've managed to achieve something that really intriguided me, and wanted to know if this can be reproduce and if so how. In my save game, while playing the with march ll DLC and infiltrating the Iron Flail camp. I entered with my Devil of Caroc through the West Gate at first in stealth. When I ended up getting caught, a fight insued where my Devil of Caroc was out of position so ended up using shadowing beyond to reposition. After the fight however, I found that my Devil of caroc is permantly with the effect of shadowing beyond. I even ended clearing the north part of the camp to sneak in the commanders tent only with her and people would not react to her attack. Even after loading inside the tent the effect is still present and she is still stealthed. I wanted to know if this a common bug and if it can reproduced in any way in other areas ?1 point

You were right on that Boeroer haha I ended up reloading and trying to recreate it the same way but couldn't. I believe it worked the first time because if weird interaction of running away, being out of sight but still taking aggro of some spells. But will never know i guess, i do have some screenshots though but the size is way to big for posting here1 point

keep in mind that Gromnir is old, so is maybe not a shock that when trump shared his thoughts on the need for doll sacrifice... ...we recollected an old bloom county contribution. and by the way o' explanation, in an earlier bloom county release, trump's brain had been transplanted into the body o' a cat. by education and experience am personal embracing free market ideology far more than am seeing any kinda benefit from trump's central planning model. even so, am recognizing that given the rampant corruption o' this administration coupled with how outta touch is folks like djt and musk, we would not be surprised if all the young people who currently thinks crypto fueled get rich quick schemes and tate brother tutorials is the future will wake up to terrible reality and go to the other extreme... am not even convinced such would be a bad outcome. HA! Good Fun! ps @Azdeus kudos to sweden where tesla sales for the year has dropped by 81%.1 point

It's silly - on the one hand, we have film studios doing remasters with excessive noise recuction to remove film grain, and on the other hand we have game developers with nothing better to do than to add film grain and motion blur options to their games. The games have the advantage here though. I just turn both options off.1 point

Although I don't play them anymore due to my wrist injuries, I always thought this was the way to go with singleplayer shooters. A player that can be killed easily but who can also kill everyone else easily (especially if they're consistently playing intelligently and making sure to out-position and out-gun everyone else) has always seemed so much more satisfying than both player and enemies just being damage sponges. Well, really, I kind of prefer it in all types of games, but especially shooters.1 point

Yeah, that's a good tip: creating some anti-kith, -wilder, -vessel weapons from regular fine, exceptional or even superb ones is not a bad idea. Sometimes you find some exceptional stuff early (for example if you take on Crägholt Bluffs way too early but manage to kill two or three enemies there before having to retreat) but don't want to replace your dear unique weapon. Then it's nice to turn it into an exceptional special weapon against <insert enemy type> for relatively cheap and combine it with the testing bonus from survival to great effect against certain encounters. One example: the Dweller bounty is pretty tough, but with a survival bonus vs. primordial and fitting weapons it becomes def. easier.1 point

shadow docket, so we got no explanation for the Court's decision. unlike the situation where venezuelans were on buses heading to an airport or to halt an imminent execution, am not seeing the exigent circumstances regarding trump's desired transgender ban for the military. the status quo were that transgendered people could serve in the military and am having heard no genuine argument that the presence o' a very small percentage o' trans people in the military somehow threatened situational readiness o' the armed forces. even if you think that trans people shouldn't serve in the military, do you honest see the kinda emergency scenario akin to executing an innocent woman or "deporting" people sans due process when the government insists there is no practical way to retrieve those people post "deportation"? again, justices alito and thomas were baffled and outraged 'caues the Court granted emergency habeas relief to venezuelans who had been loaded on buses and were headed to an airport. nevertheless, somehow they sees tragedy inducing exigency if trump's trans ban were halted while the ordinary and admitted slow legal process worked in its usual manner. full oral argument before the appellate court with possible appeal to scotus in regards to the trans ban woulda resulted in an irreparable injury to the federal government? how? am knowing am having said this a few times, but the new scotus reliance on the shadow docket to avoid accountability is one o' those under-the-radar issues we believe deserves attention. aside, for those hopeful the Court stands up to the trump administration, am warning that history is not on your side. there is a long and storied/sordid history o' scotus cowardice. if there is genuine fear a chief executive will ignore or undermine a Court decision, the safe money bet is that the Court will cave. every american school kid hears about marbury v. madison at least a couple times before they finish mandatory education. the detail from marbury which is glossed over or poor remembered is that the Court in that case surrendered to thomas jefferson, arguable our nation's first authoritarian wannabee. anybody recall who were marbury? john adams, the President before thomas jefferson, made a whole lotta last minute judicial appointments before he left office, more than fifty, which considering the size of the fed government at the time, that was a noteworthy amount. william marbury were one o' the individuals who had received a late term appointment from john adams, but he were amongst a not insignificant number o' appointees who, while they had been gained senate approval, had not physical received their commission. thomas jefferson refused to deliver the commission to marbury... and he also threatened to undermine the Court in a number o' creative if they tried to order him to do what he did not wish to do. John Marshall bravely stands up to thomas jefferson and establishes judicial review. "Judicial review is the idea, fundamental to the U.S. system of government, that the actions of the executive and legislative branches of government are subject to review and possible invalidation by the judiciary . Judicial review allows the Supreme Court to take an active role in ensuring that the other branches of government abide by the Constitution." huzzah. that means marbury received his commission and served as a judge, right? nope. Justice Marshall found a standing argument which simultaneous allowed him to establish judicial review, but also extricated the Court from the danger o' needing order President jefferson to deliver the commision to marbury and others like him. actually, james madison as secretary o' state woulda been ordered to deliver marbury's commission, but that is kinda beside the point. regardless, one o' the most well known scotus decisions were an example o' the Court finding a technicality which would allow them to avoid a direct confrontation with the chief executive. as such it should come as no surprise that the Court routine finds a way to knuckle under when a direct confrontation with the President is threatened. expecting J. Roberts to be one o' the few Chief Justices in US history to show real courage is not a safe bet... God help us all. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I enjoy Rockstar games, but the more they try to push "realism", the more out of place the combat feels. Rdr2 was the worst for this. Feed yourself, feed your horse, clean your horse, also drink an elixir while you are getting shot in the head repeatedly to heal. It always felt like they could just make your health considerably lower and drop 90% of the enemies you fight and the combat could atleast kind of match the rest of the game.... but I guess people like to feel like Rambo all the time in every game0 points
