  2. Made hot cross buns that are not immediately fatal, so that's a plus.

  3. The publisher should hire me as a consultant then. By having out-of-game mega-transactions, they can circumvent all the negative reviews over in-game micro-transactions. And by making it an elvish language course, they can probably get into a literacy program and have 0 expenses.

  6. I have 40 hours in DD2. I just recently 'legally immigrated' to Batthal. Seriously though, all backdoor ways into the country are very dangerous. I honestly can't wait to see what speedrunners can do with this game.

  7. For random encounters without much positioning or any sort of tactics, it often feels like they should be over as soon as possible. The boss battles (with 1-2 large/very dangerous foes) usually require some strategy, have significance for the story, and are quite engaging (unless they are puzzle-like and require 1 very specific solution), but they would not feel that way without some low-effort (from the designers and the player) fights. So, yes, RTwP systems allow to speed up the later and focus on the former.

  8. the issue with RPGs is they're not chess, which was my original point exactly.

  11. It's perfectly fine to not like certain mechanic, but your post suggests that RTWP and turn-based are one and the same. "Turns" is a ruleset and has an impact on gameplay decisionmaking. Chess wouldn't be "better" if everyone moved at the same time - it would be fundamentally broken as the game is build around players taking turns with one move at the time. I think the issue with RPGs is that they don't have particularly great combat loop to begin with - so speeding through encounters tends to be more desirable. In general, though, I do find turn-based RPGs to have better designed combat - not every turn based game, but outside Pillars of Eternity, I can think of only turn-based RPGs in which combat does suck (ignoring action-RPGs systems, like Dark Souls). But yeah, if combat requires little decisionmaking, and it is resolved based on your character build, that it would be desirable for combat to be over as soon as possible - or not be there in the first place.

  12. Note: I'm a product of my time - while I try not to overuse/buy plastic packaged products, will reuse packaged containers, am aware of microplastics etc, it's pretty difficult to avoid as a consumer, and I'm sure I don't do as well as I absolutely could. eg, I'm a part of the problem, as a consumer, no denying. That said, the mantra of "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" has not taken the "reduce" part to heart at all, especially when it comes to manufacturing. We could go at least go back to glass for a lot of products. I'm not entirely sure if using more paper - eg, liquid detergent vs. powder packaging - is better or worse (trees, processing process), but I'd guess (?) better at least in terms of overall environmental waste/poisoning. Maybe I'm wrong. But for gosh sakes, does stuff like small wires, cpu's, every beauty product ever need to be surrounded with five+ inches square of plastic, and do we really need plastic container "six packs" of tomatoes etc?

  14. Alpha Protocol. Did Rome and Taipei, then read that you get Veteran background when you specifically finish Recruit and not just any background, so started again with that. Yes, to get Veteran asap and totally not to stall the Brayko fight. I did get better with the game since ...what...14 years?... (okay lets not think about that), partially because I'm not playing it on a potato this time, but also because Dishonored and Prey taught me some patience and sneakiness I think. I still suck at shooting, and Marburg shanked me a couple of times before I learned how to properly mess with his pathfinding, but I didn't mind repeating this fight because dressing down Mikey gives to Marburg is still after all these years I try not to think about.

  15. You should be able to click the "Circle D" that currently represents where your avatar would be. This will take you to your profile. You should see a icon (by the Circle D on your profile on desktop, I think its to the left of your Circle D profile symbol on mobile) that allows you to change your photo. Max file size is .1MB. Once you upload the picture, it should give you the option to 'center' the image so you can get what you want in the profile area.

  16. It's pretty much a miracle that Andor turned out the way it did. I have no idea how the hell that could happen, considering the quality of everything else Star Wars.

  18. Coincidentally, I was recently reacquainted with a person who I went to AE "A" school with 30 years ago in the Navy, and it turns out a different buddy of ours from the same class died last November. Since we are all around the same age I was bummed to think about the fragility of life. My daily light exercising continues unabated and Ive been able to increase the reps and weight for each exercise. Im still doing just body weight and dumbbell exercises but I did buy myself a weight bench so I could get up off the damn floor lol: Amazon.com : Lusper Adjustable Weight Bench Foldable - 660 Lb Stable Workout Bench, Extended head and neck protection design, 3 Sec Fast Folding Multi-Purpose for Full Body Workout : Sports & Outdoors Its really interesting to me that since 1 Jan I can already see improvements in my physique. Its like the slightest effort and the human body wants to jump into action. Feels good man.

  19. Saw it this morning. I know Himmel says "Tearful goodbyes aren't our style"... not sure that really worked I'm not particularly emotional, but dang it I felt I had moist eyes like every third episode on average. Not because it was all sad, just because it was beautiful at times
