I don't know why we need a crash. There are a ton of good games being developed outside of the AAA studios. We are basically in the golden age of gaming right now. Any type of game you could possibly want is probably in development by some indie studio, and they have the tools to make it look and play great. The big concern would be the big fish buying up the small indie fish and ruining that. So far Microsoft has been buying up plenty of fish, but I'm not sure that it has ruined the diversity...yet.2 points

Goal nr.3/24 achieved February 28, 21:15 – I have completed very fast run for the last Trophy in New Game ++ of Dark Souls: Remastered on my PS4. Approximately three hours to clear my way to both Bells of Awakening, defeat Sif and another run to Anor Londo blacksmith. There I have ascended last two boss weapons from Sif’s and Gwyn’s souls, and with that, I have unlocked the Knight’s Honor and The Dark Soul Platinum Trophy.2 points

I've been refining a Soul Blade/Skald build and decided to test an assortment of weapon and shields that have retaliation, counter-attacks, or AoE damage procs to see which of these can generate Focus for Ciphers or Phrases for Skalds (50% chance to generate a Phrase with melee critical hits). Here are some of the results: Grave Calling – Chilling Grave generates Focus and Phrases Akola's Apex Ward – Shark Teeth Counter does not generate Focus or Phrases Tuotilo's Palm – Outward Spikes generates Focus and Phrases Wintertide Bulkwark – Frostbitten Palisades does not generate Focus or Phrases Magran's Blessing – Fire Shield generates Focus and Phrases (only when the Fire Shield is active, of course) Eager Blade – Bounding Strikes + Kaul's Retort generate Focus but do not appear to generate Phrases. I only saw a Phrase generated if the initial weapon hit that procced Bounding Strikes also crit, and I never saw Kaul's Retort generate a Phrase after proccing a couple dozen crits with it. May require more testing or code delving. Engoliero do Espirs – Cruel Blade generates Focus but does not appear to generate Phrases. Again, I only saw it generate a Phrase if the weapon hit that procced Ghost Blades also crit. Whispers of the Endless Path – Offensive Parry generates Focus and Phrases Voidwheel – Necrotic Heart generates Focus. It may or may not generate Phrases since the Necrotic Lance is conditional on a weapon crit anyway. Karaboru – Bloody Momentum generates Focus. It may or may not generate Phrases since Bloody Momentum is conditional on a weapon crit anyway. Chromoprismatic Quarterstaff – Soul Storm generates Focus and Phrases St. Drogga's Skull – Flames of Retribution generates Focus. It does not appear to generate Phrases – the only time I saw a Phrase generated was if the initial weapon hit also crit. Keeper of the Flame – Magran's Wrath does not generate Focus. It does not appear to generate Phrases – the only time I saw a Phrase generated was if the initial weapon hit also crit. Some more observations: It appears there is a hardcoded limit of only 1 Phrase that can be gained per attack with the Skald subclass bonus. Even when critting multiple targets with an AoE auto-attacking weapon like Whispers of the Endless Path or layering multiple Chillfogs with Grave Calling, I never saw the Phrase count jump up by more than 1 Phrase at a time. For testing methodology, I turned off chanting entirely on my Skald/Soul Blade test character so the only way to generate Phrases was through weapon critical hits during testing. It was really hard to determine whether weapons that procced AoE damage from crits provided any Skald Phrase generation because I wasn't sure if the initial weapon crit was what created the Phrase and not crits with the AoE. If they do count, they may assist with providing more hit rolls for Skald's 50% chance to trigger. With the 1 Phrase hard limit and the conditional based on weapon crits, I can't say definitively, just based on observation, whether the weapon AoEs trigger Skald phrases.1 point

Finished Sands of Aura last week and did that one side quest that kept resetting. Basically, you had to defeat a very sturdy mini-boss 7 times without resting and without closing the game while running through the whole area. In the end, it took 2 attempts and about 20 minutes with end-game equipment. Overall, it was a decent Souls-like, nothing exceptionally bad, though the story was not exactly engaging and the lack of target lock was rather inconvenient. The equipment-based character development system and the setting were unusual. Review (long): Started the Blackwell series and finished Legacy. The story follows a journalist and a ghost trying to send restless spirits into the afterlife. I can say with certainty that the progress made by the developers in all aspects is very noticeable when compared to their later games. (i.e. the game is short and the first puzzles make no sense). But the ability to combine ideas was rather nice and the pixel art style looks good. The wisdom of the Internet (PC Gaming Wiki, in particular) allowed me to overcome the EGS DRM on Saints Row and I was able to launch it through Steam. Which means that I do have a DRM-free version. The game runs worse than SR3 and 4, but it was to be expected. I haven't progressed far, but it feels like that the developers might have aimed at a younger audience. Still, the game is fun and I like the MC and the companions. Also there is a cat.1 point

Frieren epsisode 25... time to take on the dungeon "boss" More mages end up in the second to last chamber before the goal. Frierens replica still blocking the way. Kanne and Lawine shows up too with additional info about the nature of the monster creating the replicas and Fern shows Frierens weakness. Frieren admits she's somewhat embarrassed, hence never bringing it up, as it's something novice mages are prone to Also some flashbacks, showing Frieren, Himmel and Eisen discussing tactics before a fight as well as a flashback to about a thousand years earlier where young Frieren discusses the future of magic with the ancient elf Serie Someone made a nice clip summarizing highlights from the episode (saving me a bunch of screenshots) Edit: The episode ends with Fern making herself hard to spot and lining up a shot at replica Frieren, about to pull the "trigger" on her staff.. Edit2: I noticed the clip doesn't explain Frierens weakness. When she casts a spell, there is a fraction of a second where she stops detecting mana (i.e. imagine a gunfighter that blinks when firing a gun). Fern is very good at "camouflage", so can get lost from replica Frieren's sight when she "blinks"1 point

IMHO the best was Dragonfall. The best combination of combat and narrative. SR felt a little bit short, and HK a little bit long. The HK bonus campaign was a treat as well. Something in between SR and DF.1 point

https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/457/731 clinton were ordered to sit for a deposition in a criminal matter and then took a perjury charge 'cause he lied during that interview with the criminal prosecutor. a bunch o' lawyers for trump during his second impeachment argued he shouldn't be convicted by the senate 'cause the proper venue for the insurrection charges were criminal court. oh, and for f's sake, nixon was pardoned by President Ford. ford pardoned nixon even though there were no impeachment and senate conviction. the feds were bringing criminal charges against watergate coconspirators, had indicted nixon's co-conspirators and were about to indict the former President, so Ford pardoned... and absolutely nobody in 74 thought Ford's controversial pardon was pointless 'cause nixon were immune from prosecution. Ford ended any chance o' being elected in the next election by pardoning nixon, so am certain he woulda' been overjoyed to hear a pardon were unnecessary. a fed district court has already ruled against trump. an appeals court ruled 3-0 against trump. tribe is unquestioned the most quoted Constitutional scholar in the US. luttig is arguable the most respected living textualist (conservative.) this immunity argument is... stoopid. the Court taking the case is not so suspicious 'cause obvious there is much public confusion and a Court determination might convince a few folks who consume nothing but breitbart and fox news that Presidential immunity (save for in the civil context or while aa President is in office,) is utter unamerican and is so unconstitutional it should be decided almost immediate 9-0... save for fact J. Alito and j. thomas has both gone to a very dark and improbable place following the death o' J. Scalia. am having great difficulty explaining aa few recent alito and thomas opinions. J. Roberts, on the other hand... am suspecting he is doing everything possible not to hear this case. took 49 days to go from a district court opinion to SCOTUS hearing in the similar nixon situation. over 140 days for this Court to hear trump's immunity claims? SCOTUS granting cert is not shocking, but the delay from december to now is... curious. Presidential immunity would not have been a controversial issue... previous to trump. can offer more cites, but is just so stoopid. HA! Good Fun! ps keyboard's "a" is no longer trustworthy.1 point

Im still busy with the Shadowrun franchise, I installed about 4-5 new campaign mods and I was very impressed with the overall quality They not long about 5-10 hours but fun. Then I have just finished Dragonfall which was excellent and my best part so far of the narrative and now Im going to play Hong Kong1 point

I saw this story some time ago, and fully agree. I am quite certain BG3 cost even more than CP2077, over half a billion, and that is indeed not sustainable. But I also feel the silver lining is that other than a few studios here and there, most studios have come to understand and appreciate this point, and are signaling that they will be scaling back, even if this makes those gamers who want and demand the huge-budget AAA games mad. For my part, I'd MUCH rather a studio make five $200m games than two $500m games, or even better ten $100m games.1 point

I've been praying for a video game industry crash for like the past ten years, but haven't ever seen much evidence of it materializing. It'd hurt like hell in the short term, but it seems to be the only way forward to really shake things up and get another decade or two of good games instead of just...products only made for extracting money out of us. And if it kills off a few companies like Ubisoft in the process, how can you be upset about that? I'd drop a nuke on their headquarters myself if I could. ...Uh, maybe my rhetoric got a little extreme there, but you know what I mean.1 point

I went back to Dondoko Island and redesigned the entire island from the ground up. The island is effectively split up into 4 sections that you can build on, 2 large areas and 2 small areas. I sacrificed one of the small areas and put all the unsightly passive resource generating buildings there, stuff like the garbage dump, metal working sheds, a chicken coop, gardens, stuff the guests don't need to see. That stuff is in its own little area off to the side and out of the way. That left me 2 large areas and 1 small area to work with. One of the areas is on the sleazy side but balanced, there's plenty of more wholesome stuff to do. I have another large area that's very family friendly, that's for the more puritanical sorts. The remaining small area is super sleazy. If you're booking a room in that area then you're here to have a really really good time. No worries, we here at Dondoko Island make sure that we don't specify the area of the island you stay at on the billing invoice so you have plausible deniability. What happens on Dondoko Island stays on Dondoko Island. I like that you can invite people you meet during the game to the island, plus there are reoccurring characters from previous games. It's kind of weird, though, because you can invite Kiryu, but it's not current Kiryu, it's young Kiryu. It's neat inviting characters from the series to vacation at my tropical island resort. At this point I have no need for anything on the island, I have everything I planned to build built, so I can mostly hang out with the guests and watch them chill at my resort. You can have a big ol' bonfire on the beach because why the **** not?1 point

Goal nr. 02/2024 has been achieved few days ago February 25, 21:30 – New Game + of Dark Souls: Remastered on PS4 has been completed :). The second ending was of course To Link the Fire, which gave me another trophy in my Platinum run. During this run, the goal was all miracles trophy, and all missing weapon ascension trophies, with the exception of Knight's one, for which I need to defeat Sif one more time, and then run all the way to Anor Londo blacksmith. During NG+, I have found out, that this game started to feel much easier with melee character than with the sorcerer one. The only exception was Kalameet, which was destroying me for almost 3 hours and almost always around 10-20% HP mark. I am just happy, that I have learned how to control my rage, as few years ago, I would be most likely in need of a new controller1 point

I've been playing these legacy missions in Xcom 2, and they are pretty solid. It's basically a 7-mission mini-campaign and it tells Bradford's story after the aliens take over. It's a great way to scratch that tactical combat itch without committing to a full campaign.1 point

Kalameet is finally defeated on NG+. It was royal pain in the ass. It took me today 2 hours of attempts. Most of them under 20%. But then, I always got obliterated by two random attacks, which I was not able to properly block nor outroll. Rinse and repeat. Sigh. My first attempt was one of the best, but I choose the wrong weapon, and had to fight him almost 10 minutes. I got him down to 10 or so %, and the I did some stupid things and ran out of Estus. And I did not have Humanities on my fast access bar. Sigh. Reward for that was 2 more hours wiping the floor with myself I can say, that this fight was the only fight, which have been harder as melee, compared to my previous Platinum Runs with sorcerer build.1 point

Hello, I have slightly updated the french translation again for the last update, I will list the change in french for more confort, sorry for the invonvenience. I will host the files on the next posts. I will probably start my new playthough with the CP and BPM. Thanks again Eric for that amazing mod, rogue are always my favorite class and RPG, and it was obvious it was lacking love in this game, you made it justice hope it will be fun !1 point

@InsaneCommander I just watched it this morning That Fern jealousy scene was just so adorable Edit: Not going to post a tonne of screenshot of Episode 24... this clip covers scenes from the start, the middle and the end. The growing group of mages stranded at Frierens replica decides if it comes to brute force, Fern is going to face Frieren (by Frierens own admission like 10 episodes ago, she's no match for Fern when it comes to overwhelming opponents with sheer force and ferocity) Edit2: Frieren being Frieren... no mimics this time!1 point

funny(ish), a couple days ago we also made short ribs--english, not flanken. we were dry aging a half dozen glorious hunks o' meat in the fridge. the thing is, we had a guest who saw the meat in our chill box and asked if we were gonna make the same short ribs meal we made for her on a previous visit. took us a half second to recollect which recipe she meant. dr. pepper braised short ribs. don't get us wrong, while am less a fan o' meat in sweat sauce, we enjoy the dr. pepper braised short ribs... but these were sooper fantastic short ribs dry aging for extra meat intensity which would kinda go unnoticed with a dr. pepper braise. we made the dr. pepper braised short ribs anyways, 'cause am having difficulty saying no to a guest about something relative trivial. ... got halfway through making the short ribs and it sudden occurred to us we didn't need use all six short ribs for the dr. pepper braise. coulda' used just one or two and made in our smallish dutch oven. we literal had never made less than four short ribs for the braise, so it just didn't occur to us to y'know, reduce the recipe amounts since we were cooking for only two people. idiot. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Flanken short ribs in the air fryer and a sirloin steak on the stove. Also made a mizuna salad with toasted hazelnuts, burrata, strawberries, and balsamic vinegar. Wife had the steak and salad and my sonathan had the short ribs (and I helped) and some left over boxed shells and cheese.1 point

I made steak on toast. Cooked the steak in herbs and butter, as is our way, and then sliced it and put it on toast and drizzled the butter pan sauce on top.1 point

No offense, but this expansion would have been received ten times better if it had just continued seamlessly from where a lot of us left off (at the end of the game). I have several friends who won't buy it because they don't want to deal with loading from some weird save that isn't their last one in the final area. It also feels less cool that the end is already known when you start WM. I'm happy that the PoE universe is expanding though...1 point

Saints Row The active graphical settings are highly unlikely to be used by anyone else, so it might be not exactly representative. There is something amusing about this. The low visibility is intentional. The cat looks a bit off, but good enough for the first actual cat in the series.0 points

My dad's back in the hospital, heart and lung issues are coming back. I'm trying not to be angry at him but his refusal to let anyone help him with anything until he practically collapses and his apparent delusion at the reality of his situation is just making me furious. I'm not a doctor and may be rushing to judgement but the fact is that he did not give himself time to rest and kept on trying to do stuff that left him winded and begging for help.0 points

Well, it definitely did not in the short term, but in the long term, having very few big "focus-testing-driven" fishes in a pond, can hurt a lot the current diversity of produced games. Especially if other engines decide to pull another Unity-like "stunt" as well.0 points

Guys... An expansion is called that because it expands on existing content. If it continued it from where it left, it would be called a sequel. And that is not to mention how devs were always upfront about TWM being like TotSC.0 points
