And again, article based on anonymous sources, which according to some people here should be frown upon, as it is a “symptom of shoddy journalism” But yeah, I bet no one would object their reliability this time I would like to point out again to the fact, that Russia last year dismissed the theory, that Ukraine was the culprit of the sabotage as laughable Said by Putin himself https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/3/15/putin-calls-ukraine-role-in-nord-stream-blasts-sheer-nonsense2 points

That's true but they were also some of my very first RPGs along with the original Fallout games, I mean, BG2 and ToB anyway. I still haven't completed BG1. That said, Icewind Dale 2 was my favorite of the IE games when it came to mechanics. I'm not big into TTPRGs (because I had no friends that were into it and probably no tables that were into it either) but I liked the games that were based on D&D 3.5 the most and why I really enjoy OwlCat's Pathfinder games.... and even with those my game is heavily modded with tons of additional options. I also recognize that my affinity for "spreadsheet games," as my wife likes to call them, makes my preferences less mainstream and accessible. Unfortunately, I like what I like so I'm left with slim pickings.2 points

Since unlimited growth is impossible, the only way to continue to grow (and thus bring value to investors) is to take over other industries. When you run out of industries (or are locked out by bigger players), you have to begin destroying the services the government provides so you can expand into those territories. Education and the Post Office are just the 'low hanging fruit' of this endeavor.1 point

Goal number 9/2023 complete After defeating the Ethereal Queen for the first time in Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness on my PS4, I have decided to go for full clear of the first floor of the Ex Dungeon again, to obtain more Orichalcum for the crafting trophy. But because I have finished it sooner as expected, I have went to challenge the final boss of the game's storyline as well. As expected, due to trying to get all of the Private Actions, I got again Miki's and Relia's Endings, but it has unlocked one more trophy for me as well. For finishing the game on Universe Difficulty. I have also finished every Battle Trophy in the game, with the exception of 1 million hits on enemies. I am still under 250 thousands, so it will probably take a lot more time .1 point

That's far from given. Israeli officials are testing the waters on unloading refugees to other countries. Their record on allowing Palestinians to move back is not that great.1 point

With Plantir Technologies Peter Theil already has access to all of my info and is selling it to the government(s), (other) big businesses, and probably the scammers who bombard me with fake calls/texts. If the US government already has so much on us on file, the least they can do is use it in a way that's beneficial or makes interacting with them less of a headache instead of providing wank material to feds. There's something deeply American about having the awful parts of a cyberpunk dystopia married with the bureaucratic inefficiency and incompetence of a government that can't do anything but send guns halfway across the world.1 point

Well, not entirely AMD Ryzen related, but anyway: https://cachewarpattack.com/ Good news is that the fix is not expected to have any performance repercussions.1 point

Same here, just that it is also the SVR, our version of the social security number. In addition we have a passport number that is issued when you get a passport (or citizen ID, but passports are universally accepted throughout the world, while the latter is only accepted in the EU and associated nations like Norway and Switzerland), and we also have to register our primary place of residence. There is no need to register for voting or anything of the sort, that happens automatically, you just get a notification in your mail that you bring to voting, along with an ID. Said notification also tells you when and where you need to go to vote. Tax returns are automated as well. The only reason to manually do your taxes is when you have deductable expenses or incomes that are currently not tracked automatically, but the list grows ever shorter.1 point

For me, the digiID I'm already highly suspicious of, however, go ahead and call me a conspiracy theorist, but I strongly suspect that it's a gateway drug. The endgame is CBDCs. If and when they manage to sucker people into CBDCs and make it effectively mandatory (once all major businesses use only CBDCs it effectively becomes mandatory) that's game over for democracy, what little of it we have left.1 point

Fair point. But logistics and planning can both exist and not at the same time. Case in point: when Russian paratroopers landed near Kiev right at the start of the war in February 2022, they were supplied with maps. But the maps were from 1992. So, the places they tried to seek cover from no longer existed as such, and consequently they were easily mowed down.1 point

It has been said in Finland that the Swedish police probably couldn't find Gothenburg, so I'm not so sure about the Swedish government... (The reputation of the Swedish police was made by Palme and others.) Anyway, and seriously speaking, I can see someone putting a lid on the discovery if it's unpleasant.1 point

GN testing of that unfinished APO/thread-scheduling program @Gfted1 linked to. tl;dr: The efficiency cores don't seem like they should be used as primary threads for gaming workloads, they're not powerful enough and lead to both lower performance and ironically worse power efficiency, and this application seems to rather successfully optimize thread scheduling in order to minimize those issues and get more out of the CPU. Unfortunately, if Intel's explanation for why there are so few models and games supported is true, it also seems like an application they might never get fully off the ground and will probably just end up dropping because of it being too much work to maintain...not unless they figure out some automated way of running games through tests to figure out the best thread-scheduling configurations. Which is certainly possible at some point in the future, but it doesn't seem like that's what they're doing right now. I've never been a huge fan of this idea of CPUs having different/asymmetrical core configurations, especially not with how many threads CPUs have these days, so it is kind of funny to see that Intel's approach here is causing them havoc and leaving unrealized gains on the table. And now AMD has similar issues with its X3D cores...1 point

The Ethereal Queen of Star Ocean 5 has been defeated on Universe Difficulty Before attempting her, I have decided to level up a little bit, and got up to average level 240. The fight was much easier to go through as the previous "Shadow Party". It took more than 20 minutes or so, but after the fight I have double facepalmed. Silly me forgot to replace the XP grinding weapons with the real deal on two characters, so they did not made almost any damage to the boss LOL... Anyway, I was unlucky with her drops again, so I got just one Moonstone from the chest behind her. Which was still enough to create the best weapon for Anne. And luckily, she dropped her feather as well, so I was able to create the best female armour in the game as well. It went to Anne right away, so she is outfitted to the max for now. The next goal will be the Orichalcum farming in respawned first floor to slowly fill out the craft book and then the 4 winged versions of the superbosses.1 point

I keep meaning to zoom thru Ghostwire Tokyo, just for the art if nothing else etc. But then every day I just turn No Man's Sky back on for a couple hours instead. Firefly's "Definitive Edition" of original Stronghold (not Crusader) has released - but apparently it doesn't include Skirmish mode, which doesn't sound very "Definitive" to me. >.> (Edit: correction, I guess Skirmish was Crusader originally, so perhaps that's justified then). I also have the original (from GoG) that can be played at higher resolutions, which looks great, so I'm not sure what the benefit of the new version is. Slightly polished sprite graphics - doesn't look all that different - and Steam service MP/matching I guess?1 point

Heh, yeah, maybe in wet Putin dreams. He tried to annex 4 oblasts, and he is not able to hold them back, which made him the first Russian leader after hundreds of years who lost Russian soil. What makes it even more ridiculous is, that he lost it to a much smaller country And if you are thinking the West cannot keep pace with Russia if they start to try, I got a bridge to sell to you as well. Or do you really think, that a country with a pre-war GDP lower than Italy can outperform the whole Western World with 100x bigger economy combined? Of course Putin think so, but that’s why everyone sees him as delusional and deranged dictator. Including China1 point

And here you are doing a big mistake of thinking like westerner and not like easterner or russian. I wanted to make a long post for you again, trying to give you more insight on how different world it is here, and why you are discounting implanted nihilism of the east into this, but I have found today a very good explanation on how russia thinks, which does a pretty good job of explaining it. And yes Putin counts on people like Trump, ex-Berlusconi, Fico, Orban to pave his way into challenging NATO and Article 5 after he has done enough to destabilize the western society through useful idiots like Zuckerberg and Musk1 point

Prior to this current version, I had only ever seen the 1960 version (House of Usher (film) - Wikipedia). So besides being an excellent retelling of the story it was also cool to see it updated with todays "issues" (but some of them were really on the nose). Nah, we do it to each other. Somtimes Ill start watching something that shes poo-pooed, then a little while later shes suddenly sitting next to me watching it and asking me to backfill whatever she missed.1 point

I would just like to point out that Israel has been deliberately attacking civilian targets and murdering people -- children very much included -- in proportionately far greater numbers and much more effectively than Russia ever has during its war with Ukraine. After that, I'm extremely unlikely to be persuaded by a speech, even if it's a really good one. Words, when compared to actions, mean almost nothing.1 point

Back from vacations Cleared two more bosses in the third floor of the Ex Dungeon. Boy-oh-boy, the difficulty spiked up after the second floor. I got nearly wiped out few times by the thrash mobs, but I am slowly leveling up and getting more powerful. The first boss (Bloodthirsty Fiend) was crazy hard, and I was fighting him for more than half an hour, and used up almost all of the Fresh Sages I had to control my healers most of the time, to overheal his damage to my party. The next boss (Transmogrified Alma) was a pushover and all I needed to do, was to fill up my "limit" gauge and use the ultimate move with Emerson on 200%... I got my first Moonstone as well, and now I am thinking what kind of weapon should I synthesize with it. Probably weapon for Emerson, as I have found out, that he is sometimes very useful in fights against the bosses to control, and he can deal that way enormous damage, if he can stay alive. And I have a chance to get the best weapon for MC from the next boss. We'll see1 point

This holy detonation DLC final boss for wasteland 3, reminds me why i always play on normal... like 99% of the time I'm fine with harder difficulties... but then a boss like this comes around... good God is it painful.1 point

You may not have done all the Forge quests. That fireball is impossible to avoid or counter. Even passing the Dex save, it deals at least 20 damage to an NPC with 10hp. The consensus online seems to be you need to specialise your wizard to court wizard to have a chance to keep the NPC alive. The best thing to do is just not take any of them along. I did that wizards quest incidentally. He actually tries to kill you.1 point

It's that bad. Because of my job I frequently call or take calls from numbers I do not recognize, roughly 2/3rds of them end up being some kind of scams that bypass the "scam likely" filter. It's nearly inescapable and can happen at all hours of the day, a call at 2am claiming to be an emergency is not a great thing to wake up to. I was talking about both, as the biggest clients of Plantir Technologies are governments. It's a distinction not worth a difference whether a government pays a firm to do something or if a government does something directly.0 points

APO is a great use case for machine learning once enough data has been accumulated, that could also automate testing and should provide results in a much smaller timeframe. At least that's what I would try with APO, because manual tuning after every patch and for each new game (or even application, not like Photoshop for instance has great multithreading, could probably also benefit from APO) release would otherwise only be feasible if the optimizations could somehow be handed over to the community. Well, those are here to stay, what with AMD adding "c" cores to their CPUs in the future. Oh, they sure like to tell how much better their c-cores are going to be to Intel's e-cores because they're basically the same and thus have the same IPC, just more tightly packed and clocked lower, but one just needs to look at the 7900X(3D) and 7950X(3D) and its myriad scheduling problems to give lie to that statement. There are games where a 7700X beats the 7900X and 7950X due to coordination issues between separate CCDs that are identical, and the 7800X3D is consistently as fast or in some cases even faster than the 7950X3D - and that is with the artificially lower clock speeds of the 7800X3D. Having cores that clock lower is going to be an issue for scheduling, whether or not they have the same IPC, and between Intel's Thread Director and AMD's core parking on the 7900/7950X3D, the conclusion is pretty obvious. The c-cores are not going to have the same performance as the regular cores, and therefore AMD's going to run into scheduling issues, unless they just turn off the c-cores in gaming like they do with the 79X0X3Ds - which also not always works properly. Proof is in Steve's benchmarks. With the way APO seems to work according to Hardware Unboxed's video, i.e. making sure one e-core per cluster has access to the full cluster L2 cache by turning the other three off and directing threads to make better use of the CPU, it sort of makes sense that the only supported CPUs so far are the 14900K and 14700K. APO might not work properly or produce no real performance uplift on a 14600K with only two e-core clusters. The 13700K also has only two of them, so for 13th gen that probably would just leave the 13900K. Not unlocking APO for the 13900K is a pretty lame move though, if understandable from a marketing point of view (assuming APO becomes more than a tech demo). There's no reason it would not work just as well on a 13900K, seeing how the 14900Ks are just 13900Ks that won the silicon lottery. I mean, like literally.0 points

Well, did not get the drop Anyway, the next boss was piece of cake and I was able to get him down easily in few minutes, unfortunately the next encounter was literally a DPS wall. I spent few hours trying to figure it out, how to defeat shadows of my party with ****ton of HP and crazy healing abilities. I had to spent more than 1 hour to grind levels so I could have at least some chance to stay alive. Well, still not enough. The biggest issue for me are the needed drops. And I am not very lucky with it, so I can imagine, that people can get stuck here, if they are even more unlucky than me. I am happy, that I have at least one ultimate weapon for Emerson, else I would not be able to get through this fight. Anyway after a while, I have find out a with a little bit of help on Japanese wiki, a nice Role assignment for the characters, although, it still did not help me to beat them I had to use Dead Man Walking Role on my tank to be able to get through this encounter. This makes the character immune to damage, but he gradually loses HP. And pretty fast, so you have to watch out for your healer, so he can top him out with heals all the time. Even with this “cheesy” tactics, I still had a lot of trouble to be victorious and had to use few times items to mass resurrect my party. In the end, I won, but again, absolutely ****ty luck with drops. You can get up to 6 moonstones from this encounter. I got none Two-winged Ethereal Queen (the last superboss of first Maze cycle) will be much harder without more pieces of ultimate weapons.0 points

You get ambushed from the world map, so can't do or use anything before the fireball hits. I have given up on the game and am unlikely to return (this year). It is little things like this that kill the magic for me. Tried giving Age of Wonders 4 another chance. Absolutely like it even less than before. Biggest disappointment since Evil Genius 2.0 points
