  1. https://commons.lib.jmu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2817&context=cisr-journal Mind you, the Danes were no better, thinking it awesome getting all those "volunteers" at gunpoint. This was an opportunity for a bit a vengeance after 5 years of occupation after all... "To better allow for the provisions of the 1929 Geneva Convention, the Germans were officially categorized as Surrendered Enemy Personnel rather than POWs. The other 200,000 odd German troops in Denmark returned to Germany in the weeks following the surrender. Clearance started quickly and proceeded quickly. On 11 May 1945, within one week of the unconditional surrender, the first clearance tasks had begun. 4 This arrangement was formalized on 18 June 1945 with the founding of Minekommando Dänemark by order of General Dewing, commander of the British forces in Denmark. " Tl;dr; they were supposed to send pioneers, but rounded up any young man/boy they could get and sent 2600 back to Denmark, to clear the mines on the beaches. Over a million mines were removed this way. I mostly knew of this because I watched a movie ("Land of Mine"), which revealed a less glorious part of Danish history and a cause of a bit of self reflection for the sometimes holier than thou Danish attitude. It made me curious and I started digging (no pun intended) into the underlying real events the movie is based on. Edit: Can recommend watching the movie btw... it's a good movie

  2. Cluster munition is also very good for clearing trenches since you don't need direct hit.

  4. Then she's not that smart because in most non-sekrit endings Deskari doesn't die and in at least three endings the Worldwound stays open (and even expands for one). Really it's just plot **** and shouldn't be read into anymore than that. I'll guarantee that BG3 will be a mess for quite a long time. No horny vampire yet. My Lich is going to be power hungry from the start, rp'd as someone who came in search of power above all. I don't like making the Lich a skelly, I much prefer the decaying or preserved but clearly undead Lich aesthetics. It sets it apart from other undead and is more unsettling imo. I do like Arazni's more recent design but she's more of an outright goddess now so I went with classic Lich Queen art as an example. And you know who else was an anime undead monster who raised an army of the dead? Too bad Time Stop isn't in the game. No ZA WARUDO for my Lich.

  5. Another thing to keep in mind is Soulblades periodically have to use either a power or SA, since when you hit max focus you lose the soul whip bonus(es), which gimps your attack. So you need to keep an eye on your focus and either spam SA or cast a power when it's full. Usually, for SBs it makes sense to focus on debuff powers to disable foes and make them easier to hit. But once they're rebuffed you can speed up their demise with SA. SB is probably best as a MC and for those who enjoy micromanagement.

  6. Guess he's trying to leverage the Western public with all this foot stamping. Okay, this was funny - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jul/12/uk-defence-secretary-ben-wallace-suggests-ukraine-could-say-thank-you "Wallace revealed at the briefing that he had travelled to Ukraine last year to be presented with a shopping list of weapons. “You know, we’re not Amazon,” he said. “I told them that last year, when I drove 11 hours to be given a list.”

  7. I lost interest after No Prayer for the Dying was such a poor album and a huge disappointment after Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. I know a little about what they've done since the 1990s, but not a lot. Anyway, former pop star Rick Astley did something spectacular in Glastonbury by performing this classic song by The Smiths. There is a certain adolescent period where you're no longer comfortable at home but don't have a place of your own yet; feelings tend to run high, romance both beckons and frightens, you're prone to grandiosity and tragedy and everything except your own life may seem larger than life. This song captures that period perfectly; I can't think of anything that does it better -- the lyric is just superb. Brilliant pop composition, too.

  8. Yeah. Interesting movie. The article does (the part I quoted) point out the reason the rounded up Germans weren't classified as POW's, because then they didn't qualify for the protections offered to POW's according to whatever laws governs that. This was of course complete BS, but the Danes didn't care what they got sent, because in 1945 German lives were not only considered expendable, they were very enthusiastic about expending them, regardless of the pretext. Edit: Duh, it doesn't specify the reason, that was my assumption. It just mentions that they were reclassified to not be considered POW's

  9. one of the gods eventual answers that exact question. so you only need wait a few dozen hours to get get your answer. however, keep in mind wotr ain't dostoyevsky. if you are expecting a good explanation, you will be disappointed. owlcat takes the anime approach and feeds you a plate full o' implausible exposition and then just kinda moves forward as quick as possible hopeful you won't dwell on the inadequacy o' their contrived explanation. an observation from captain obvious: wotr is an EPIC adventure in which mortals is the driving force in a conflict between vast and enigmatic cosmic forces. the main goal is to make the players feel important and powerful and not to reveal heretofore hidden or unrealized truths about the human condition. hoonding's character is vital and the answer you seek need only confirm that necessity. HA! Good Fun!

  10. there has been a few changes with the azata mythic boss since release. original his ac were in the 40s. people understandably complained 'bout what a pushover he were in spite o' his massive levels. yeah, every round he would do a mass summons and unleash fire spells which did irresistible divine damage, but with the comical low ac the battle were kinda a joke. am pretty sure that initial ac were a bug 'cause after a few patches he were buffed a bit. maybe owlcat overcompensated? HA! Good Fun!

  12. Technologically, and performance wise, I would still put 4th gen US fighters (especially the F-15) up against most of the worlds air forces. Theyre just old and structurally tired now.

  15. Okay Grounded. Love the game, but for us loners, I wouldn't mind an update, where in a new game, the whole four characters are there. So 3 are NPCs. Obviously, two players, two NPCs. We all run off out. The other 3 disappear until you build a bed and a chair for each one. You'll find them relaxing in their chairs at random. They'll have random conversations with you, and they can be seen relaxing in your spa. Now once you have brought them back with their own beds and chairs, you can set gathering missions for them each day. What they gather each day or each time period is limited by the weapon and armour you gift them. i.e. no armour, they can only gather pebbles or plant fibre. Increase their armour and weapons, opens up to greater variety of items they can gather. Make the game so you don't feel alone. The last mission defending the three mixr cylinders. Make it harder, but the NPCs help. When growing big. They will gather around.

  16. I was thinking there should be a plant that you can farm that gives off a scent to repell the insects from you, like a craftable hand held tool, or even something you can place around your base, but it would be hard to obtain.

  17. I think they key with Soulblades is to realize that sometimes a well placed power is more effective than just dumping your focus for another SA attack. If you're playing it well you should always be doing that calculus of should you use a power or should you dump the focus. Most of the time just dumping the focus is an easy answer but a charm spell at the right time or a secret horrors etc can turn the tide too. So that's why I think it's important to be present when playing that class and don't just be lazy and spam SA all the time. Sometimes a power really is the better choice. But it's easy to get into a habit of just spamming SA 24/7 because frankly that is very effective more often than not lol.

  18. And for everyone's general entertainment, how it all ended: Of course, now I have to be squinty eyed on whether I made it the right size for my friend. I guess we will find out when it's her birthday next month.

  20. You can have my idea. Make a Ballista (large stationary cross bow). You could make it out of wolf spider legs or heck, add crickets or grasshoppers and use their legs for the body and bug rubber since it's not used for much else. Add rough gunk or whatever just make it for the love of all that is good and Just in this world. The ammo would be made from crow feather and stem and rust for the arrow tip and use whatever you want to add different arrows idc of the reload is slow as long as it shoots straight up to 700cm and the drop is from there. Give it a nice beefy DPS so we have a chance when we fire it off if you slow the reload rate. Or jive us 3 shots per reload. Like I said it's a stationed, slow reload, sniper that should take out a wasp in 3-4 if you wanna make us sweat. Thank you for the time and the game

  21. Hello! As I'm sure has been said before, I have just gotten this game and I look forward to putting several hours into it! There are a few things I noticed as a new player: - The backpack quickly becomes too small - The hotpouch selection is unintuitive and can be difficult in combat My recommendations for solutions to these would be as follows: - Anything equipped should not have to go in the backpack - Create a recipe for a craftable "Food sack" that is separate from the backpack - Allow for creation of larger backpacks *** Switch the keybinds (or allow for a kebind configuration) where the number keys control which hotpouch you are in, and the scroll wheel determines which item you are using (quick switching between items in combat can mean life or death!!) *** Thank you for all of your hard work and diligence in creating and updating this game! It really shows!

  22. we have all been there, you build your house in a nice location and a wolf spider comes and destroys your house. i was thinking of making bug repellent or a place down trap that does the opposit of the lure trap. idk what that would be though.

  23. What if she is smarter than she seems and knows that she doesn't need to, since the Commander can do it? That will be next for me. I literally can't wait for it and I'm already planning. If BG3 is buggy enough on release, I will leave it for 2024 and start a new PWotR pt. I'll begin as a reasonably decent "the ends justify the means" necromancer who genuinely just wants to stop the demonic invasion. And then I'll go full insane with power and sacrifice anything (and everyone) for it. I imagine I'll probably get a reaction like this when the crusaders realise I have become a Lich:

  24. Problem with cluster munition is that not all of the pieces explode. They leave a quite high percentage of duds behind, which are dangerous and can still explode at any time, same way as other explosives.

  25. Apparently, even the rabbits are aware you can find water in toilets. Anything works in an apocalypse, right. ...but sorry, Mr. Bunny, my hunger trumps your thirst. It was a strange game day where I kept finding those bunnies in places you usually never see them in the game, like hardware stores, under shopping carts, inside cargo trailers on top of boxes, etc.
