  1. High chaos Dishonored is glorious and delightful. Though I liked the sneaky way too, there is something cathartic about summoning rat swarms, tossing oil tanks and tricking people to cross the hacked gates. Also playing Wasteland 3, though probably less than 1/3 so far, just apprehended Kid No. 1 and doing sidequests to max out selected non-combat skills before hitting the DLC town. Love both aesthetic and combat, also soundtrack is great. I like neat little details like "Sans Luxe" apartments, skills being Sneaky **** and Nerd Stuff instead of Subterfuge or Science, fits just right with the whole tongue-in-cheek, "It's not really real" atmosphere. While I do like combat, it does not like me so far, probably because I was half-neglecting its skills, but I can open, disarm and talk myself out of everything now which is way more important. Knew I won't be siding with the Patriarch from the start, because his horrible kids have one thing in common - their dad, and it went only worse, so it's kind of Angie to show up and provide fall back.

  2. Once again the question of where the most appropriate place to post rears its perpetual head... Even Her Majesty the Queen was a fan, apparently. Then again, personally I'd rather watch Wheel of Time Episode 8 on loop for two hours than listen to Paul McCartney.

  3. You are again escaping the question and scapegoating. Vysokopillia has been occupied during the first 2 months of offensive, so no one was defending it, that’s why it was not destroyed. Popasna is a prime example, how Russian acts, when the go full on offensive and someone defends. Vysokopillia on the other hand, despite being much smaller, is the prime example how Ukraine is going on offensive, when someone is defending. So I answer for you, Russia almost completely levelled Popasna with artillery before they took it. They are doing The same currently as well, when they are shelling currently liberated villages in Kherson blast all day long… Maybe you’ve missed it, but Ukraine has a lot of artillery currently as well, and despite that, they choose not to destroy everything in their path, like Russians do. Now back to Vysokopyllia. Some time between july/august there were reports that Ukraine encircled 1200 Russian soldiers at their stronghold. Have you noticed any crazy artillery, to get it under their control? No, because it did not happen. Instead Ukraine fortified their positions around the city and pushed heavily for disruption of Russian logistic and command hubs, until they attrited the Russian forces there, and were able to defeat them, without ruining the whole city, like Russians did previously with Mariupol, Rubizhne, Sieverodonetsk, Hirske, Pisky, Popasna and dozens of other smaller or larger cities, which they levelled to the ground… it took Ukraine one month longer to liberate it, but they saved countless of civilian lives and infrastructure. EDIT: the simple reason, why I took Vysokopillia as an example is, that there are no settlements occupied after April, and recently liberated, which were not destroyed by Russia beforehand…

  4. It ought to be unnecessary to refer to the subject of the thread and stress that we are, indeed, talking about the Ukraine conflict, but clearly it isn't. It ought to be unnecessary to point out that my anger towards Russia's actions in Ukraine is not lack of anger towards other actions elsewhere, but clearly it isn't. EDIT: Isn't there a bit of an irony in the fact that substantial swaths of the Russian army essentially spent the past three or four days screaming, "I need a ride, not ammunition!"

  5. We have seen what the Russians are most effective at in there military efforts. Targeting civilians building, rape and killing of civilians So of course there mass retreat will be followed by attacks on electricity stations and the attempts to destroy infrastructure and of course @Zoraptor will defend and justify it and we will hear about Kosovo\Bosnia as usual .." yawn" And whataboutism is a distraction to a point raised, here is the definition "the technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counteraccusation or raising a different issue " So when we say " Russia are using the normal cowardly response and targeting civilian infrastructure" and someone says " yes but look at what happened in Bosnia\Kosovo " that is whataboutism We not talking about Bosnia\Kosovo, we talking about Putins War and one of the charges of war crimes is targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure and this is a war crime because its " unnecessarily destroying civilian property " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crime

  6. Little bit of speculation. The deepstate map, which I consider as one of the most accurate maps, already have some grey zones extended behind Oskil river. The fact is, if Russia does not have defesive lines already established in Luhansk Oblast, they are pretty precarious situation, as most of the retreating forces from Kharkiv Oblast are not combat ready anymore, and it can take a lot of time for them to get consolidated and regrouped in working BTGs… https://deepstatemap.live/en#8/49.654/37.336

  9. ... "Behind Russian actions, all you can see is completely destroyed towns and villages", yes? So, if the Russians captured Vysokopilla then it was already "completely destroyed, yes? Did the Ukrainians fire shells that rebuilt the town? Or was it not "completely destroyed"? That's why it's not really worth replying to, the whole rationale makes no sense. (Vysokopila and Popasna aren't a great comparison anyway, Popasna is 7 times larger if nothing else. And the topography of Popasna is significantly different too. Most damage is done by artillery, which Russia has a lot of, and Ukraine doesn't) That's because you haven't been paying attention. If I say that NATO or anyone else has done something wrong, and I think it's the same thing / directly relevant to what Russia is doing then --> --> Russia has also done something wrong. Yes? Pointing out that others have done the same without consequence is not the same as saying it's all good, is it? There isn't some finite pool of guilt that is in danger of being used up. I've used this example a lot, but I liken the application of International Law to a policeman. If a policeman only goes after criminals that have no power, or that a group of powerful politicians- who have done similar things- don't like then is he a good policeman, or a bad one? Sure Bruce, I unequivocally condemn the various war crimes and human rights abuses committed by the Russian military in Ukraine. In an odd twist of fate I also condemn all the various war crimes and human rights abuses committed by anyone else outside (or inside, for that matter) of Ukraine. Which, sadly, is not true of everyone.

  10. We're not ignorant of this; I'm pretty sure that goes for most of us taking part in this discussion. However, we're talking about the Ukraine conflict in this thread, and commenting on what Russia does is not a comment upon what other nations or organizations have done elsewhere. I find it very odd that there are forum members who appear to take it that way.

  11. My favorite thing in the game is finding new clothing, not so much for the stats (those are nice too), but for fashion purposes: My previous hat made me look super mysterious during conversations, though: The game features famous figures from the French Revolution, like Robespierre: The 4th boss, Unstable Statuary Ram: Like the last 2 bosses, this chump was super slow and thus quite easy, you can kite him for days. I mean, his attacks did look like they would do huge amounts of damage; it doesn't mean anything if they never land.

  12. Well, Zoraptor, judging by your logic, if I wanted to be an utter cynic, NATO bombing YU and attacking civilians, happened, because they “took an example” from Soviet Union killing civilians in Afghanistan, which took example of USA killing civilians in Vietnam… and so on, until we end up somewhere in Antics And it will be always the same kind of whataboutism, you are bringing up all the time. Yes there were many atrocities in the past, committed by different people. But currently, it is Russia who deliberately kills civilians, not USA, nor Rome… Just for a second try to compare Russian offensives in last few months with current Ukrainian offensive… Behind Russian actions, all you can see is completely destroyed towns and villages with thousands upon thousands killed civilians. Now look, and tell us what you see behind Ukrainian actions… Although, I am 100% sure that even in this case, you will be able to squeeze in there some kind of NATO/USA/Ukraine bad as well “trivia”…

  14. I need to get to do it at some point. I can't get into the game. I don't like writing nor the overall vibe of the world, I don't enjoy the combat. I don't dislike the game, but I just don't enjoy my time spent with it. Some excellent middle levels in that game. I am doing yet another Dishonored1 run at the moment. I have been playing Dishonored in a non-lethal low chaos playstyle so far, so I have been planning to do a high chaos run for once. I expected it to play better without restrictions, but I am somehow amazed how better it plays. There are far many more cool systemic interactions that just don't happen in a non-lethal run. So many toys and skills to play with. There if a feel of far more consequence to my actions, where for example chopped up bodies with spawn hordes or rats, while non-lethal runs ended up much more empty. I am also for the first time resisting X-ray vision, which makes the game so much more enjoyable - I am discovering envoromental details that I never noticed in my previous 4 (?) playthroughs and I just find the game much more engaging. Oddly enough I don't feel like I am missing much - my loot gathered percentage seems about the same as they were before. Game is good in pointing players into a right directions anyway.

  17. I've been giving TB mode a more serious try thanks to @Noqn's beta S4 mod, and I discovered an interesting thing that I hadn't known before: many effects that do periodic damage have their damage multiplied to simulate 6 seconds of time passing as one "round" hazard effects tick like every second (it's why their damage numbers frequently look so low), so their damage gets 6x-ed most persistent aoe effects only trigger on specific initiative points each round. (This makes it really easy to run in and out of e.g. a tanglefoot or a chill fog without getting hit. lucky for humans, enemy AI is too dumb to exploit AoEs like this.) TB mode hazard effects, however, trigger both on initiative but also while moving into or through it. all these points combined, especially with #4, means that every "unit" of movement in or through a hazard effect on TB mode triggers the 6x-ed damage. If you can kite enemies, knock them around, terrify them, or somehow just get them to move around, you can do a sick amount of damage with hazard effects. I discovered this with Wall of Thorns - ordinarily does 4-5 damage per hit on RTwP - it's 6x-ed to 24-30 on TB mode. I had hobbled enemies stumbling through it wracking up tens of damage with every "unit" of movement, not to mention the additional "tick" of 24-30 damage just from the once/round effect. Easily did hundreds upon hundreds of damage in one fight alone. There's not a lot of persistent hazard effects in the game, but I anticipate these all become damage kings on TB mode: Wall of Thorns Wall of Flame Wall of Force Wall of Draining <-no damage, but probably lots of drain Wall of Many Colors <- not sure if damage gets 6x due to the way this is implemented, but enemies do trigger the color effects a lot LMK if I missed anything. Interestingly, in the tooltips, the damage isn't 6x-ed for hazard effects like other durational things, so it must be a dynamic adjustment done when someone is hit. Given that movement/trigger damage is unintentionally 6x-ed, I wonder if priest seals (electric and searing) also get 6x-ed despite having no duration?

  21. I defeated my first true boss of the game, The Selenite of the Louvre: These are known as Titans and defeating them grants you a power, air dash in this case. There are 3 phases to the battle. In phase 2 she sets her shield on fire and rapid fires electric projectiles at you from time to time. In phase 3 she electrifies her sickle and becomes much more aggressive. I defeated her on my second try. As an aside, this game has a multitude of difficulty options to tailor the experience to suit your taste. I haven't touched them and am playing on the default developer intended difficulty. Beating the titan also had me saving the life of Jean Sylvain Bailly. In real life he got the guillotine eventually, but since this is alternative history, who knows?

  22. don't ignore spells which provide a morale bonus. at the very least you could have an additional +2 for heroism, and depending on other party member caster levels, perhaps even +4 for greater heroism. moral support is a fifth level azata spell which you is unlikely to have access, but it will offer a big boost. intimidating prowess provides BIG benefits to a would be intimidator as you are able to add your strength modifiers to your intimidation checks, and strength is one o' the easier abilities to boost. spells such as legendary proportions will add a +6 size adjustment to your strength and that will stack with the + __ you get from belts and other gear. HA! Good Fun!

  33. My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to respec a bit to try out a few different things. My barbarian is now truly living on the edge of the chaotic life, embracing the "Mad Dog" archetype, riding a (wrecker) triceratops. I remembered to put some stat points in INT for the Trickster path, but mostly just STR and CON (and the leftover in INT). Picked some nice feats like limitless rage and reckless rage (and the one that shares my rage with my team so we're all going to be raging barbarians). It was a bit of a toss up between a skald or a vivisectionist level for now (level 10). In the end, I did like the mutagen better (i.e. vivisectionist). I might try the skald later tonight and see how that pans out. Also ran into a skeleton merchant a few times as a random encounter. Bought a few nice things for the team.

  37. It makes sense when you take russian messianistic complex into account. "We're there to show teh One Troo Way (that is Our Way), why those savages cannot comprehend that?!?!" Bull**** of "We russians are special" kind is very much state-supported narrative since, well, that shriveled infected ballsack lodged itself more or less firmly onto the throne, and it is also supported by church and other institutions. Why? Well, when you choose to pocket away all your country's income and give the people bupkis, you need something else to keep them in line, since it's logistically difficult and economically unsound to attach a KGB thug to everyone or jail them all. So telling them they are special and misunderstood and giving them an enemy to vent anger at (gays, NATO, Ukrainians) works.

  40. a reasonable conclusion. unfortunately, is an owlcat game, so reasonable is never a reliable guide. but yeah, they should be for nenio's quest. as to the dragon, our recollection is you got a thug build. intimidation may make a big difference when fighting the dragon as intimidation ignores the lizard's spell resistance at this point am thinking you got the signet o' vespertilio, the oppressor's gloves and the moss pottage soup camp recipe. combined, those is gonna boost your intimidation check by 10 even before you cast any skill enhancing spells. hopeful you took the intimidating presence feat. if so, you may boost charisma and strength to improve your intimidation modifier. am not certain where you are in your azata progression, so no spoilers, but azata provides a few long-lasting buffs via resting and spells. gonna admit, the freaking vegetables in the dragon lair were for us a more difficult challenge than the lizard, but have always been able to start the fight with what amounts to an ambush and a healthy party with full buffs, so no doubt that makes a difference as well. HA! Good Fun! ps unrelated, but am noticing guarded hearth is no longer providing a sacred bonus. is a bit o' a nerf, but it does make a few other builds more attractive, particular the judge inquisitor. judgements provide sacred bonuses, but guarded hearth near always provided a more significant boost. the judge ability to share sacred bonuses which ain't effective replaced by guarded hearth during boss battles is worth a looksee. if we ever decide to play a paladin, we might consider giving seelah 16 levels o' judge. with stern gaze she would make an excellent intimidator and we could have her select the animal domain so she acquires a critter companion. from a rp pov, makes more sense to try and have lann or regill choose judge, but regill can't get sixteen levels o' judge, so is likely a non-starter. lann however... am suspecting you met the greengates glabrezu mage general and his lightning strikes. mage generals is far less fun when is the enemy who uses 'em. arguable the best option is to skip that battle until you are a bit more powerful 'cause the relative army strength number is extreme misleading, no? might have changed, but the glabrezu and his army were considered a 6 rank foe... which had us feeling a bit shocked during our introductory encounter as our precious stacks o' marksmen were vaporized with a couple lighting strikes. not fun at all, but the unexpected pain does drive home just how effective is mage generals, eh? pps (late edit) for funsies we created a judge merc and gave'em an elk mount-- were testing multiple different features at once. downside is the elk were only getting it's gore attack (no hooves) and no free trip neither. on the positive side, the judge sharing o' the sacred bonus works with both the paladin's mark of justice and guarded hearth cleric domain, so is likely a judge party member becomes more useful on higher difficulty runs for parties doing physical attacks as 'posed to focusing on dc exploits. kinda disappointed 'bout the elk though. the

Which might give us a hint, that the Russian presence there should be on par to the presence in Kharkiv Oblast. But Donbas is closer, and there are no natural barriers in between as the Oskil river in Kharkiv Oblast.

  44. Finished Wasteland 3. Overall I enjoyed it a lot. Oddly enough my enjoyment was almost the direct reverse of Wasteland 2 where I enjoyed the middle of the game considerably more than the ends, ie I liked the ends of WL3 and the middle dragged*. That's probably an issue with the combat, which of course there is a lot of. If you have a lot of it it either needs to be challenging and varied enough to keep interest, or quick enough that you can storm through it with maximal pew pew and minimal plink plink. Towards the end of WL2 there was an awful lot of plink plink. Kind of funny though at the end the few times I triggered combats where the enemy got initiative I'd lose pretty much the whole party instantly, and the exact reverse if I got initiative. *mostly an issue with the Steeltown DLC really, first time through I just stalled out there completely. Also finished Dishonoured 2 recently It is, of course, a very good stealth game and if so inclined, an OK action game. Though from my brief experience playing it as an action game, very easy when played that way so long as didn't think you were John Rambo.
