  1. I liked Prey a lot and pretty much none of the issues people mention bothered me at all. It's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it's one of the better movies I've seen recently.

  3. This is a build around the interaction between Shared Nighmare, Time parasite, Current's Rush (high tide) and Frostfall (Dispersed Suffering and Shattering Head). Against groups of enemies, this character can clean the map, leaving survivors like the shadow of themself. Classe : Ascendant (higher max focus) Race : Elve Stats : Might : average Con : low Dex : average Per : high Int : high Res : low Principales passives and abilities : Borrowed Instinct (+20acc (and def) to scoring crits) Time Parasite ( to speedly try to crit) Shared Nighmare (Biggest AoE to spells and High Tide and Shattering Head and Dispersed Suffering) Greater Focus (to enhance the Nighmare AoE) Hammering Thoughts (damages are dealed by weapon) Two Weapon Style (to reduce the recovery for Current's Rush) Lingering echoes and usual CC spells Equipement : Thaos' Headdress (Heaven's Cacophony is great too) (+1 int +5acc vs flanked, or +2int and avenging storm for High Tide, Dispersed Suffering and Shattered Head) Mirrorback (safer at distance) Charm of Bones (+2int, very resistant minions) Gloves of the Dungeon Warden (the build is around crit) Ring of the Marksman (ranged) and Ring of Overseeing (AoE) Later, the Whispers from the Depths Boots of the Stone (later, the Vithrack Silk Slippers can greatly make the difference for survivor enemies) Girdle of Mortal Protection (good and cheap) Gipon Prudensco (free move, buff to reflex and deflection) Current's Rush (Main Hand) with upgrades and legendary, better with Mythic Frostfall (offhand) with Dispersed Suffering and Shattering Head In combat, the principe is to casting Borrowed Instinct and other CC spells on the most resistant enemy ; during this time, attacking at ranged distance (so only with Current's Rush) other enemies to trigger the Ascension in the first time, and High Tide with relative AoE. High tide can proc itself High Tide on crit, and when do a kill, proc Dispersed Suffering that can proc on crit Shattering Head, that can also proc Dispersed Suffering on kill. Because of the high AoE size (Shared Nighmare, int and ring) the 4 or 5m radius of these abilities are really big and concern a lot of enemies. This is because Dispersed Suffering proc on any weapon kill, and Shattering Head on Frostfall crit (Dispersed Suffering is a Frostfall attack). Each kill mean +20% hostile effects duration (Dispersed Suffering), and an unique first crit can do many kill with this setup. If staying enemies are under the effect of Borrowed Instinct or Time Parasite, their durations can "explode" and by the way make growing the correspondant beneficail effect on the cipher. The Vithrack Silk Slippers, when reapplying a CC spell on enemies, do an adjustement of the duration of the affliction, but in reality when dispersed suffering proc nearby, the 20% is applied to the total duration (not current duration) so not only the duration of the spell itself but the totality of the casted spell (It is hard to be evident in english). To illustrate this point, I made a screenshot at the tavern I try the build : I cast only one time Secret Horror and Mental Binding before High Tide proc. As you can see, there is many proc in the combat log, and the blood on the floor show the after-high-tide effect. Of course, there is many way to exploit Dispersed Suffering (Berserker on skellies with Grave Calling in main hand, Ranger with mortar or the Weyc's Wand in main hand, etc) but SC Cipher seem to me the most suitable classe to make a Current's Rush/Frostfall build, combining high speed, high accuracy, high AoE size for the high tide effect.

  4. we mentioned the archery weirdness were minor, but am also suggesting some folks is being over dismissive... save for hurlshot who has shown time and again he prefers movie combats to be as campy and improbable as possible. if prey were shaolin 'stead o' comanche, and a monastery were attacked by a predator, how many here would be nitpicking if the monks were using wwf moves? maybe you is a big fan o' wwf wrestling, but why use shaolin if you got the monks defeating the predator with leap from rope piledrivers and back o' the head blows with folding metal chairs? is a scifi movie with aliens and cgi bears, and there is already a history o' wwf guys in predator movies, so why not have wwf style fighting take out a predator you nitpickers? *shrug* even so, if you are gonna do wwf to defeat the space hunter, then why use a shaolin monastery as the setting? so am asking again, why comanche? coulda' invented a north american indian tribe, or even set the movie on pandora or any other invented alien world. why make comanche and then do weird archery which is most assured not comanche? did weird archery make the movie better? if not, then why? ishi btw weren't anywhere near as wacky as what prey comanche is doing. ishi used a long bow, drew up to his chin and shot from right side o' the bow, which would be problematic while mounted but didn't look anywhere near as awkward as what we see in pictures from prey with the comanche doing that basswakwards na'vi draw thing. the stoopid archery in prey is not what is preventing us from seeing the movie, and even we described as a minor issue, but am suspecting more people is capable o' easy overlooking 'cause they don't realize how wonky is the prey comanche archers. do a 17th century samurai v predator film and have the samurai using modern olympic style epee fencing in spite o' wielding a katana... and force the samurai to do the fencing with a weird backhand grip. somebody would pick nits, no? HA! Good Fun!

  5. This game seems to have excited enough people for long enough to make me curious about it… I’ll have to check it out more when I get home again (currently travelling interstate) Edit; what can I say? Missed the smell of kerosene and the queues at airport security

  7. None of the rest of us are lawyers or have that background; most of us see obvious wrongdoing (from our own individual perspectives on what is 'wrong') and want heads to roll. It's been about six years since the clear Trump political wrongdoings started (not accounting for anything he did before that outside of the political realm, which would be mostly irrelevant to us since before that, he was just yet another bastard billionaire - one of many), and that's a damned long time with regards to a very distinct lack of head rolling appropriate to the level of harm done to our government, institutions, and society at large...enough for a lot of us to get enraged and start thinking that maybe mob justice is an attractive alternative to a broken system where people like Trump can "get away" with everything he's said and done. As for the issue of legal vs. wrong, that only makes it worse - if obvious wrongdoing is not actually illegal and the ones doing it don't face punishment, then it only reinforces that the system is broken (particularly in the face of not being able to change the law in any meaningful way!), making the desire for wrath all the stronger. Never minding the issue of 'the system' and what certain individuals get away with, the last ten or so years have made it pretty clear that both sides of the political aisle have been pushed well beyond their limit with their counterparts: the divisions are so immense that so many (too many!) of us do not want to live with, talk to, or really even see the other because it's become increasingly difficult to view your political opposite as being anything but despicable and divorced from reality. Divisions that deep, combined with the times not being nearly so good as they once apparently were, are likely to reach their boiling point sooner or later, and this ever-swelling mass of fury would seem to be just a symptom.

  8. am suspecting one o' the more unsatisfying aspects o' this unfolding story is that most o' us want to know what were the intelligence trump had in his possession before the feds retrieved. unfortunate, given the nature o' such info, a relative small number o' people other than those in trump orbit will know what the state secrets s'posed at risk. funny aside... HA! Good Fun!

  10. I'm trying to figure out how it would work without the animals and all I'm coming up with is just implying it via trophies the predator has while having had him moving up to hunting the French trappers by the start of the film. On the whole, I think that would have made a worse movie than the CGI animals and Naru still needs the encounter with the lion to make the story work. I'm less concerned with accuracy (especially in a movie featuring an intergalactic 18-year old trophy hunter) and more concerned with how the movie works, and it does despite the wonky archery or cgi animals.

  11. Ignorance is definitely bliss when it comes to movie inaccuracies. Thankfully, there isn't much archery in the movie and none of it is mounted, though it does look a little strange even without knowing it's completely wrong. As for the CGI, a lot of it does not look that good but like KP I think that the animals being there works better for the story they're trying to tell.

  12. Don't get me wrong, I throughly enjoyed Prey despite the uncanny valley cgi animals, and unlike some of my fellow haters I think the animals were necessary for this story. Still, this is a videogame forum so nitpicking is to be expected. Willy's Wonderland is the movie for you then. Nic Cage vs evil animatronics.

  13. I'm one of those few ppl on the internet that isn't all that enamored of Predator even as an action film. Both hubby and I are "it's ... all right. Has moments." But we didn't see it as kids (mid-late 20's maybe) and have no nostalgia. I like action movies but for some reason Predator (the alien itself and the film) didn't do it for me. Kinda how I feel about all the Rambo stuff too, including First Blood. And I still liked Adrian Brody in that one film. The film itself wasn't special but for some reason I really liked Brody in it - it wasn't his usual type of role and I liked him better outside of his typical box. Also, I liked that it wasn't set on Earth. The less said about Predator 2 the better. The only reason I saw it was Danny Glover was in it and I remember wondering why he'd taken the role. I suppose I'll see Prey someday, out of curiosity, tho.

  14. ... typical weird Gromnir observation: one o' the most vile things we have ever eaten is alligator liver. am suspecting all the wet fetid rot o' the swamp is collected in the alligator's liver during its lifetime. imagine the worst smelling roadkill you has ever encountered and then add a weird swamp stank to it and you got a notion o' the taste o' alligator liver. alligator and crocodile is not same, but you would need pay us to again eat alligator liver and we would avoid crocodile liver until assured they is very different by a signed affidavit from multiple michelin chefs... and at least one priest. however, our understanding is crocodile paté is not crocodile liver but rather crocodile meat turned into a spreadable paste with oil and herbs... mentions parsley on the tin, no? HA! Good Fun!

  16. a cgi bear were the bridge too far? no. just no. is she comanche or na'vi? now am suspecting there is some archers somewhere in history who use bows as does the star o' prey... and the na'vi, but such were not the case o' the comanche. most noteworthy aspect o' comanche archery were preternatural speed with which they could release arrows while mounted. for those genuine curious, go to ~4:00-5:10ish. am recalling seeing a comanche archer when we were young. guy were on horseback hitting 20 yd bullseyes from full gallop and is hard to stress the negligible time 'tween each arrow hitting a target. lakota archery traditions is similar to comanche but noteworthy different in a few aspects (e.g. heavier double-curve bows.) we may end up seeing the movie, and am knowing is a minor thing, but was the weird archery for the comanche in prey necessary? did it make the movie better? am also wondering why every picture we see from prey with comanche using a bow makes it look as if they all got osage orange, but we could live with that curiosity. after all, haven't seen the movie so for all we know is only one bow in the entire film and is being used by multiple comanche. regardless, w/o having seen the movie, the released images o' comanche doing archery more appropriate to pandora set our teeth on edge. why? HA! Good Fun! ps we read somewheres prey protagonist is 'sposed comanche, so if that ain't true, then ignore everything we posted. regardless, the willie pekah video is kinda kewl if you are willing to watch the entire ~fourteen minutes.

  17. Also, today emerged rumours, that one of the most prominent collaborators in South Ukraine, Oleh Shostakh, had a very explosive day today in Melitolpol. The guy is one of the main organizers of sham referenda in the South. Let’s eagerly await now for some indeoendent sources to confirm or deny the claim. https://edition.cnn.com/europe/live-news/russia-ukraine-war-news-08-12-22/h_570cc7f061c21c3e18909c1487b204e7

  22. have no reason to believe the following, but we nevertheless assume our hair is gonna go grey w/i a comical short period o' time. am in fifties and we got a few white hairs which you will notice if you are standing uncomfortably close to Gromnir. however, 'cause our eyesight went from better than 20/20 to distinct far-sighted over the course o' a couple years, we irrational believe our hair will do something similar, going from almost uniform dark to colorless w/i a year. HA! Good Fun!

  23. I’m a NECROMANCER! Every class build I have presented so far was a melee type so I wanted to do the opposite this time. This is a one man army of the dead and rotting, poison, corrosive, and death magic. Enjoy either sitting back and letting your army deal with the soon to be also undead, or fling about your UNLIMITED POWAH, laying waste to all those around you. Lots of grimoires cover almost every spell you need, with only a couple picks needed. How’s it play? Send in your army of skeletons, maybe summon up some more and/or send in your ghostly ancient weapons to hold back a big monster long enough to drop the appropriate damage type on it. Charm of bones is a great summon tool (if you don’t mind some cheese import a character with one so you can have a second for recharging).
