Just a couple Quality of Life suggestions, I know I've seen a master thread trying to do this, but all it devolved into was "i agree" not a clean thread at all. 1. When equipping armor, the armor takes up an inventory slot still, this should not be the case. 2. When transferring items from inventory to storage, a move stack option would be nice. Bugs/unintended exploits 1. When on top of the mysterious machine, you can stand in the middle and range attack larva and other ground based mobs and have no threat of being attacked by them. 2. Gotten stuck in grass blades and Clovers a few times. Seemed like a geography glitch more than anything.4 points

Have you seen Russian games? Granted, Russians tend to go heavier on the memes, but they definitely also go anti-PC and irreverent. Maybe it's a slavic thing? Us slavs give zero ****s what you western progressives see as good and proper.4 points

There's always the chance that a developer fails to capture the tone or spirit of any given subject matter, especially when tackling a genre foreign to them. It definitely helps that CDPR have been working with Mike Pondsmith who quite literally wrote the Cyberpunk pnp source books that this video game is adapting. Short of working with William Gibson, I have a hard time thinking of someone who is better suited to helping CDPR capture the tone and feel of Cyberpunk.3 points

I teach all about this to 7th graders. China was nearly a century ahead of Europe when it came to ship building and navigation. Modern compasses, water-tight compartments, garden ships, etc. None of Zheng He's 7 voyages were particularly successful from a financial perspective though. They were not economical for the time. Caravels and later European designs were fast and could pay for themselves 10 times over with a successful expedition.3 points

It's completely logical to hold in low respect the entire profession of policing and still hold individual police officers in high esteem. You yourself have pointed out a number of institutional flaws, training being foremost, in police departments. Even as jaded as I am I still believe the majority of police officers are decent people trying to do a good job. But, while only one man killed George Floyd, three others stood by and watched him do it and said not a word. IMO that is the institutions 2nd largest flaw. They value the careers of other cops over the integrity of the institution. That's why I have said police have only themselves to blame for the anger and distrust they are now facing. The other point of me posting this video is to provide a eyewitness account of what BLM actually is. And it is not what it started as. It has been co-opted. Mr. Jackson in the video described confronting a violent BLM mob whose members were mostly white hurling racist epithets at black cops.3 points

Played it for 20 minutes. Absolute garbage. Game starts with you climbing a wall... which is on-screen hotkeys which you have to press to progress. Probably would have been better to just make this a cutscene .... Combat is boring. You "stun" enemies, then execute them. Same animations over and over. Attacking feels like you hit the air ... it's just not satisfying. Map design was lame as (w)hell. It's not scary at all. It's just lots of gore. Especially wieners are around every corner. Punched a pregnant woman, then grabbed inside from down below and pulled out a baby. Honestly, this is all just for shock value and so people talk about it ... gameplay-wise it is not interesting at all and doesn't look good either. tl;dr - They try to get you with curiosity and shock value, but the game itself looks garbage. Don't spend money on it.2 points

Both LotrO and DDO are run by Standing Stone Games, which is basically a small group of Turbine employees that broke away and bought the rights to the games from WB/Turbine. I guess they couldn't get the rights to the Asheron's Call games. They've continued to release content and support the games. It's a shame that they don't have the resources to tackle a new project, as I tend to view them as the best of the old school MMORPG guard. I don't know how successful they are, but they do well enough to keep the lights on.2 points

Poland is where all the innovation in vidya games seems to be these days. While others are churning out tired Ubisoft-style open world collect-a-thons, us Poles are adding groundbreaking features like fetus consumption. Jestem dumny że jestem Polakiem2 points

I am also afraid that PoE aren’t the easiest to translate. It’s use of language is unusually sophisticated for a video game. For Tolkien it took 2 tries to translate it properly into Polish, and honestly the strength of 2nd translation is making changes to the source material. I have been wondering for a long time, if Bioware basic and simple language was fully intentional for world-wide appeal.2 points

I'm honestly not sure what the aboriginal people think about things these days, but they happen to live in a country that is so ass backwards that it's frigging scary. Powerful church and conservative groups dominate the political scene. It's not a surprise that it's the country that brought you things like Rupert Murdoch and his News Corporatoon. Second most disgusting thing since "Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda". In the meantime, aboriginal people die in droves in custody, have a disproportional representation in child sex abuse only beaten by the church and domestic violence issues and alcohol abuse you wouldn't believe. A natural consequence if a few centuries of abuse and exploitation, even going as far as forcefully remove their kids at some point and adopt away to white couples, Teach them how to live properly right? Also to breed out their "blackness" by force. You name it. They have no special rights or protection in modern Australia. Latest headlines was when one the mining companies decided that this 40000 (yes, forty thousand) year old place of worship was in the way of an expansion of an iron ore dig and simply blew it up with explosives. With the conservative party's blessing mind you, because we can't let such a thing get in the way of our main fund raisers and party donors.2 points

There were like 10 seconds of presumably in-engine footage in that trailer (the beginning was CGI). And if you think that part looks worse than Skyrim I dunno. If anything it was probably the best looking part of that show.2 points

Oh, racism is officially not an issue in Australia anymore. The aboriginal people got reclassified as human beings in the 70's here (before that, they were legally classified as flora and fauna). No kidding. That's how far behind this country is in many ways.1 point

That's just to score some drama points I think. His MO. Stir the pot, ignore conversation. I'm sure someone else would have called it either a critical point or a point of no return. But it sounds fancier trying to give it some kind of scientific spin even if sounds exactly like what it is. A tabloid headline.1 point

I don't know. I had more fun watching and rewatching this trailer then playing Skyrim for 30 hours (God 30? I don't rember anything of note happening) I worry that if Avowed will take place after PoE2, that will mean most likely end of PoE... though maybe, with enough interest in Avowed, PoE will get some love and people will realize how great the series are.... Meh. Whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see. Que Sera Sera As "prequels" go, KOTOR turned out rather well.1 point

I mean technically a trailer is worse than a full game. So I guess you're right. Skyrim game > avowed trailer1 point

It's not really relevant that it's from the Guardian. They're just referring to the study from CSIS (centrist thinktank - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center_for_Strategic_and_International_Studies) https://csis-website-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/publication/200616_Jones_Methodology_v3_0.pdf1 point

I'm back to Dungeons & Dragons Online after I found out that they are giving away all adventure packs and both expansions can be purchased for less than half a month's sub stipend.. Ah, the feeling of not having the faintest idea of what I'm doing in a game where I used to run high end content.1 point

I decided to give LotRO a try and made a female hobbit guardian, because (sadly) I can't play an orc, I wouldn't play an elf if you put a gun to my head, humans are boring, and dwarves are cool, but I've played tons of them in other games. I only just started but it seems decent enough, better looking than I expected from a 450 year old game. The combat is your bog standard MMO combat, which is to say about as stimulating as popping a Xanax and watching the paint dry, hopefully it gets better once I have more skills to work with. As an aside, the game plays quite well with a Steam Controller. I'm probably one of the only people on the planet that really likes the Steam Controller, I'm glad I got one when I did since it's unlikely Valve will continue to produce them.1 point

I would be curious if it would make the game sells more of copies. But this is what is wrong in gaming industry - all the agencies of people saying how games should be according to them, while they do all they can to destroy it for others - like saying how it would be worse shooter or how expensive it would be. This game is not a good shooter anyway, never could have been, so it could be atleast accessable to players who were the target audience of such game. And it could be expensive before they got funded by Microsoft, but now... But even before it would still be possible with DLC - if players are willing to pay for it, why not let them? Maybe they really didn't have time and maybe there is not enough of players for 3rd person view who would pay for it - I don't know, after all statistically majority of players will accept both. And even such great games like Greedfall or Vampyre were bashed down for not being perfect and didn't sell many copies. But I'm not sure if it is not better to simply accept that - AAA games make standard now and AA games will never reach it, so you could atleast make the game for people who would enjoy them? And a lot of RPG players do like to see their character. And a lot of players still don't care about perfect skin in realistic graphics but about good movement, content and aestetics. And even the first Vampire the Masquarade managed to have perfect 3rd person view. For some reason I feel as well that it is not going to happen, so gbye Outerworlds, Vampire the Masquarade2, Cyberpunk and all the other RPG games made for RPG players who will not play it.1 point
