  1. People who don't fit neatly into one of the two established political categories in this country are hard for the ones who do to understand. The VFW is TRUMP country (capitals intentional). Half those old guys think he was sent by God himself to save us all and all he does is with divine mandate. Or something. Well, my opinions of the Orange Menace are well known to all of you. So, anyway they were going on about Trump and his executive orders and how it's about time someone took things in hand and what not. Of course I told them what I think. Next thing you know I'm being questioned, with some hostility, about how as a veteran I could support Biden. I don't I told them. In fact the only thing I hate more than the Republicans is the goddamned Democrats. For whatever reason that didn't resonate and it went on like that for a time. No hard feelings on my part. I'm not sure that is true all around. People really are too uptight about politics. It matters far less than most folks will admit.

  2. I'll let you know if I ever get there. I have over 200 hours all on one character. I hit the 50 level cap and unlocked champion levels (currently sitting at 80cp--the soft cap is currently 810cp). Mostly I just treat it like I do an Elder Scrolls game and only do single player content like quests and I'm nowhere near done with all of those for just the base game.

  4. Many vets feel that the Democrats have been and still are disdainful and disrespectful of vets and the military in general. That opinion is not without some validation. But, obviously it does not apply to all Dems. Do you recall the Obama admin's "special instructions" to local police regarding veterans back in '09. That is still discussed to this very day.

  5. Got into a political discussion at the VFW dinner last night. I was just conversing but it got... heated. I wonder if they will "forget" to invite me next time.

  6. took us a few years to appreciate stewart copeland. regardless, perhaps metaphor o' such a successful three-member band is that sometimes less police is better? apologies, were admitted just stretching to make more police relevant in politics thread. HA! Good Fun!

  7. I can empathize. My father had one of those machines from hell at work and most of his colleagues and partners had them too. At work... and at home. I spent hundres of hours (not exaggerating here) supporting these abominations. Nothing worked the way it should*, especially when you had one of them VIA mainboards that came with driver installers that potentially just killed your Windows. *Not even talking about gaming here. Those were work computers where the serial ports randomly stopped working until you manually (re)assigned port numbers, for instance. This was particularily fun with telephone systems or people who just wouldn't get any readouts from their manufacturing, laboratory or meteorological equipment. Getting games to run with some stability was a different kind of hell. Bonus points for having ATi cards.

  8. Death Stranding looks great on the 4k PC. Not much else reason to have bought it twice. Except that I love the damn game. It's like an open world game of meditation. Oh sure sure, there's a bit o' fighting and huuuuge chunks of story scenes but most of it - it's still so strange how delivering packages and planning out your travel structures and routes for efficiency is so ... calming.

  11. I like manual drives, if only because I like to rhythmically switch gears back and forth to the beat of music. Don't tell anyone.

  12. And bossfight number 29 in Dark Souls 2. Optional Boss King Vendrick. The biggest complication on this fight were my sore thumbs from all the wiping at Ancient Dragon The thumbsticks sometimes slipped me away from under my thumb tips, which were little bit painful sometimes It took me a lot of tries to find out his weakness. After that, I’ve needed around 15 attempts to execute it properly All in all, it took me 59 attempts He was just to fast for my old reflexes

  13. sure. we were a physics undergrad. am knowing you is unlikely to watch the whole thing, but the old connections shows were fantastic. launch angle at 8:40- ... am after the fact recognizing how our reference may be weird. is at least mildly autistic to take your launch angle comment and reference a few moments o' a tv show which likely ain't been aired, not even on pbs, since the 80s. HA! Good Fun!

  18. Sorry to hear that, LC. My wife has pancreatitis. She takes an enzyme called creon with food to help her process. Did they take it out? She says the pain was worse than child birth. She has had a few flare ups over the years.

  19. Do you bruise easily? Don't like needles? Don't end up here, then. Also, if you don't like hospitals and are convinced you'll be fine in a few days, maybe don't listen to yourself. ...too tired for long details. Was another bout of the back/stomach pain/puking, weight loss etc. Twas acute pancreatitis. I'm at home now. Supposedly I was "close" to dying (triglycerides were through the roof). If hubby hadn't decided I was being too loopy and walked me to the car and hospital I guess I might've. I did have some mighty fine visual and mental hallucinations tho (no fake ppl inserted, sadly). Would make a good paranoia film script, those. Edit: With covid, not a hospital-great time to be generally sick. They checked for 4 or 5 viruses too, zero patient visitors allowed etc. It was interesting

  20. Ladies and Gentlemen, I think it might be good idea to stock up on popcorn, because soon, it will be among the rarest commodities on the market... And you wanna have some big pile of it at home, as Twitter will explode in September 2020...
