Melusina Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Anyone excited about release date? Anyone dissatisfied about not having key ready? Which key would you take - steam or gog.com? https://store.steampowered.com/curator/33102093/ - Picky Gamer Girl!
Sedrefilos Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 (edited) Nah, it was as expected, Q1 '18. Since the game is not out I don't care much about having a key right now. I'll go with GoG most probably. Apart from the drm free stuff, for some reason GoG's versions are more compressed making the files smaller and faster to download. Installing might take some more time but downloading faster is the plus imo. Edited January 28, 2018 by Sedrefilos
Wormerine Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 GOG, obviously. Since Galaxy became a thing, and games autoupdate I see not reason to purchase new games via steam anymore. April is too far away to get excited about it beyond a “thumbs up”. In the same manner, I really don’t need a key for another two months, so no, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. 4
huang Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I already have Pillars 1 on GOG, so I'm going to add Pillars 2 there as well. Since the keys will only become relevant on April 3, when the download becomes available, I don't care about them yet at all. Until the downloads start (I don't think they do pre-loads), the keys are "useless". 1

Same - game keys are only become useful to me when they can be redeemed for a functional game, at any point in time before that I don't care whether I have it or not. daven Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Haven't bought a game on Steam in years. GoG Galaxy is much more streamlined and less of a hog. 1 nowt

Boeroer Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 In the past I wanted to support Steam with their approach to Steam-Boxes with Linux (in hope this would boost gaming on Linux a bit) - and GOG didn't have Linux support for quite a while (now they have). Since I'm a loyal simpleton I'll stick with Steam unless they make me really angry. So far I'm pretty satisfied with Steam though. 1 Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Wormerine Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I appreciate GOGs commitment to make things work. Since steam introduced refunds, it is much less of a worry, but warm feeling toward GOG didn’t evaporate just yet. After all, it is thanks to GOG’s Icewind Dale2 copy that I was finally able to play it - other copies had some unsolved problem with direct draw, which made it unplayable for me for many years. I don’t have much against steam, but I tend to favour GOG when given a choice.
Boeroer Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I have an GOG account as well. And I also like the whole approach. My first game from GOG was The Witcher. But as I said: they didn't have Linux support for quite some time and that drove me to Steam. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
AndreaColombo Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 GoG. Steam would clash with my strict “no Steam” policy. 3 "Time is not your enemy. Silent Winter Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 I've got Pillars 1(+WM) on gog and I'll get Deadfire there too. Don't need the key until release day. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ *Casts Nature's Terror* , *Casts Firebug* , *Casts Rot-Skulls* , *Casts Garden of Life* *Spirit-shifts to cat form*
ShadySands Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 GOG is easier for me since I travel a lot but I have games on every client/web store and will continue to do so as long as it benefits me. I never understood being loyal to a company as the consumer but I've read millennials have less brand loyalty than older generations so maybe I'm just cliche 1 Free games updated 3/4/21

Flow Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Huh. Odd they're releasing keys two months in advance, but I suppose doing it now might reduce administrative headaches on launch day.

Not sure, or if just directly download from Obsidian in April. Does anyone have this? Thanks.

You should be able to grab yours already via backer portal/My Products. 1
flyovermetoo3 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Thanks, it was in 'my products', not account info. So, key generated and onward.
