i think its a trend for japanese companies in the past few years to over estimate sales on games.  they need to lower expectations and budget accordingly.  square needs to make more final fantasy games that attempt to emulate 6-9 instead of pushing for absurdly expensive graphics and full voice acting

Although I have enjoyed FFXIII and XIII-2 (they were not the best stuff, but had enough fun playing them, and that's what counts, right?) I fully agree with you on this one, and Square Enix, is not the only one who should follow this advice...

It looks like we may be getting close to an all in one Game of the Year edition for Skyrim.

I for one have been waiting for this for too long now.

Absolutely!!! Because as everyone knows, every PC player if given the chance will illegally download and steal a game rather than pay for it.

I for one have been waiting for this for too long now.

I thought they still had a couple of more major pieces of DLC to go. Perhaps they are going to do an Ultimate Edition further on down the road.

You see, ever since the whole Doritos Locos Tacos thing, Taco Bell thinks they can do whatever they want.

I think this was old news.  The big question is whether it will be able to be played without being authorized first...aka...simply put the disk in and play...or if you have to put it in, install, authenticate online and then be able to play offline.

I suspect it will be the former with the console pressures as they are...but with how Blizz has done other things recently...really hard to tell.

I thought there were no more DLCs? I know they are going all in of their Elder Scrolls online game. The trailer looks great but I just don't do MMOs. Hopefully the article is right. I've held off buying Skyrim but I'm getting tired of waiting. Especially now that I have a computer that will run it well.

I guess Redguard is just rumors.

I don't follow it much, but it's hard to ignore some ES stuff coming through on the Fallout boards.

17 minute long trailer of Battlefield 4.

Very graphiccy, spectacular and... yeah. I wish DICE would stop trying to make BF into a CoD-clone and spend all that money and time on just multiplayer instead.

Running between covers every 15 seconds to have a 15 second gunfight is pretty boring.

It does look like they're taking a cue from Brothers in Arms with telling your NPC's to give you covering fire though, wich is nice. Evolution.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken

And Square Enix continues with it's troubles..

Gamespot - Tomb Raider Fails to Reach Sales Target

As part of its latest financial earnings report today, Square Enix announced that three of its big-budget titles failed to reach their sales targets.

Tomb Raider has sold 3.4 million units worldwide since launch this month, Hitman: Absolution has moved 3.6 million copies to date, and Sleeping Dog has sold 1.75 million units since its summer launch.

These figures do not account for digital sales.

Square Enix said despite a "high critical acclaim" for each title, sales still came up short. In particular, the publisher called its North American sales force "ineffective," noting that title sales in this region made up just a third of the number of units sold in Europe.

Another reason each game failed to meet sales expectations, Square Enix said, was due to price pressure being "strong." This forced the company to spend additional capital on channel costs like price protection.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced his resignation today amid an "extraordinary loss."

Well I mean, I agree multiplayer shouldn't suffer for the single player because that's always been the series' strength but the campaign in Bad Company 2 was a lot of fun and BF3's campaign while being rather bland on story and gameplay was just incredable to watch and I felt worth the effort just for the spectacle. Both of those games had great multiplayer too, I mean people rag on the season pass for BF3 but it was fantastic value for money, you ended up with more maps, modes, vehicles and guns than you would have with an old fashioned expansion pack and all were great fun to play. I'm super excited for this it looks terrific.

The whole thing looks very shiny, very hectic, and very boring. The usual "next gen" FPS splendor. WIll not buy.

The gaming industry becoming more and more ridiculous...

Tomb Raider is out less than a month, it sold 3.4 millions without counting DDs and is still not considered as a success??? Seriously What a Flying **** are the Board members of these companies smoking???

Apparently, Squeenix is looking at a project loss of more than $100 million, which means they projected sales of maybe another 2 million at full retail.

On an unrelated note, as far as Squeenix is concerned, they sold about 3 million digital versions. :banghead:

They went the "safe" route again with the sp -- follow the corridors and look at all the awesome happening around you. John "killer" Walker said he thought it was 'abysmal' on twitter (His thoughts on RPS). I wouldn't go that far to describe it. It just looks boring...
