  1. Mr. Adler, will the reviewers get patches while playing, like the area loot slider bar and other stuff, to make their experience as close as the release as possible?
  2. Name: Elsa Race: Human (meadowfolk) Class: Wizard (Ice magic) Background: Aristocrat Elsa claims that she's from the Wends, but she is in fact royalty from the kingdom of Arendelle. She used to be queen, but she just had to let it go.
  3. Reviews and sales more importantly means everything for the future of the PoE universe. That's how it works.
  4. That was great, thx for the post Sensuki. This bodes very well for the game, and I'm certain we all will be repeating the hopefully soon to be famous words from Eric Fenstermaker:" That's an RPG, son." ^_^
  5. They should have a 10.000$ "design a romance" pledge just for Bruce next time.
  6. I got a bit more money now, so I would probably do a 500ish pledge this time around.
  7. That was vague. And your assumptions are flawed. The most radiant example is, that the writing lead is Eric Fenstermaker and it's his call to cut some of Avellone's ideas, duo to game tone/theme conflicts. That is not Sawyer. Besides, your 4th assumption is wildly inaccurate. First of all, that was not a gesture of hate. Read the room man, besides that, they're professional adults. There is no way that their relationship has hurt PoE.
  8. It didn't even occur to me that it is a pale elf before reading this. I was like:" Cool drow portrait" and now it just dawned on me, that there are no drows. :D
  9. BAdler has stated that you can kill every character in the game, and there is, as far as he remembered at the time, one NPC which is so important to the crit path, that you can't complete it if that NPC dies, but that you can kill him/her/it anyways.
  10. what kind of rubbish is this. D&D lore is inspired by many other sources. Don't you dare place Forgotten Realms lore, as the OG of fantasy. PoE's take on elves, dwarfes, and all things high fantasy is in all ways as legit as any D&D game. I find it highly refreshing that they take the best of the IE games and don't have to take all the dumb restrictions to lore and gameplay from Forgotten Realms. I find the lore around PoE to fresh and exciting, because I don't know it like Forgotten Realms and I can really explore it. I don't need to meet Blackstaff, Drizzt or Elminster. I've been there. I want to meet Pumpkin, Eder and all the other guys from PoE.
  11. No, their fans wanted a big game, that was the main point.
  12. I think the main issue with DA:I is that the design mission goal was to make a game with a max playtime of 200 hours. You never should let playtime dictate design. I agree. I guess the DA 2 scare really got to them. Somehow they listened too much to their fans, and it let to some poor design choices. @PrimeJunta +1
  13. The problem with DA:I isn't it's length IMO. It's the quality of the game content. It's so pretty, but soooooooo boring. The only worthwhile thing in the game is the classic bioware banter, which sometimes makes you smile. Everything feels so superficial and the crit path is just subpar. Mediocracy!
  14. Oh come on Luckmann. They'll make a gazillion dollars in the first week and buy a few other studios to fix dem bugs in a jiffy. Honestly thou, I guess most bugs will be fixed with the expansion release.
  15. Do people really have performance issues? I haven't felt a single issue with this game, and I don't imagine anyone with a pc less than 3 years old would. :S
  16. Lol, that picture looks like they're about to start a YMCA choreography. ^_^
  17. Haven't read everything in this thread, but seems like it's getting off topic somewhat. My opinion is that OE should use kickstarter, if they can avoid to take money from venture capitalists etc., which reduces production control and creative freedom from OE. Paradox seems cool, but I'd prefer if the cooperation between them remains like it is. If they want to make a game that's too expensive for kickstarter to solo fund it (along with their own and other money without ties), they shouldn't use kickstarter.
  18. 1-6 on your keyboard will select a the character based on it's icons placement in the lower left part of the screen. 1 will select the one furthest to the left and so on. You can ctrl bind keys 7-0 with the characters you desire.
  19. There is one hotkey you need for stuff like potions and skills. The spacebar. You can't (AFAIK) bind skills and potions to hotkeys. You have them on quickbars, where you can access them. It's like in the old IE games. Your normal quick keys, 1-9 are mostly used up for quick character selection. In the BB options->controls there is an ability section in the bottom of the screen, but sofar it's empty. The thing is, that hotkeys wouldn't be very useful in any case. The combat is constructed around pausing, where you have all the time in the world to assign commands to your party.
  20. Having played the backer beta I'm really sold on a cipher. Blood legacy has a cool cipher ending, and ciphers should be the class that is best linked to the overall theme of souls. So from a roleplaying perspective, I would recomment a cipher. But it all comes down to your prefered playstyle and the kind of character you want to play both roleplay and combat wise. Edit: I didn't see you had a cipher in your team setup. Personally I won't plan my team beforehand, but a rogue like Gromnir adviced would be good burst and you could focus on some much needed mechanics. A ranger or a wizard would also provide what you might lack abit. Josh very recently stated that rangers are getting much stronger than they are in the present beta build, and a ranged weapon specialist has proven very good. A wizard is good bursty bursty and got grimoire slam, which is my personal favorite skill in the game. Book bashing!
  21. Hello Robby, great to see the hype! A few things you might not know. The game will be shorter than BG 2, but longer than BG 1, if you count the number of areas. So bigger than BG 2, nope, but less should do fine for this first installment. There will be fewer companions than in BG 2. They should however, judging by Obsidians past work, be deeper than the BG 2 companions. And even thou Josh has stated that it's not a humorous game, all the game footage that I have seen is buzzing with humor. There will be 2 big cities instead of one in PoE, but both will be smaller in scope than the city of coin. So the central hub thing will likely be abit more BG 1ish. With more freedom and exploration than BG 2 offered. But less content intensity. The scope will probably be less grand than BG 2, since it's a mid level adventure. So it will be different, but it might just be the game you want!
  22. The difficulty you choose will also matter a great deal to the hours you have to invest.
