  1. If OE had to make the game, so codexians would be pleased, it would sell like ****. The codex got no power, and they buy the games anyways, so it's fine just to ignore their overly entitled ranting.
  2. I read the review, agreed with a few point, but was utterly disgusted by the lack of both balance, professionalism, and overall justification for it's existence. What a shame.
  3. An argument could maybe be made for Beregost, but Nashkel? Nuh uh. That's your nostalgia talking. Beregost and Naskhel better than Defiance Bay? Come on. Beregost is 90% filler homes. If that's your fancy, Beregost is the best ****ing city in gaming ever. And Naskhel? Sure, if you're a Volo fanboy. But for the rest of us, those cities aren't even close to be on par with Defiance Bay. That said, Defiance Bay isn't on par with Baldurs Gate or the City of Coin. Of course they werent. I'm just speaking out of disappointment about this so called " two Big Cities" Obsidian promised us. Defiance Bay and Twin Elms were more like large towns compared to Baldur's Gate and Athkatla. I responded to your post about Beregost and Naskhel. This is a different discussion.

  5. Well I think you're wrong. Pallegina is also reflecting the same factors as you mentioned. She has real person issues with orders, loyalty and morality. She fits your criteria better. And I don't think the good/evil thematic is irrelevant.
  6. 4 million extra means, that OE has other funding in advance of the kickstarter. Just because they didn't have to pay the money back, doesn't magically increase the overall budget for the game.
  7. Durance is as evil as realistic people come with wanting to purge those he does not like with fire and has no problems with wanting to murder all Eothas followers on sight. They only don't seem that evil because the game does not put in situations where they do more than talk about that stuff. They needed to do more and put in situations where "evil" characters want to do something that is considered cruel or sadistic in the game and you must help them or reject them. But game designers decided that your companions will not be attacking or leaving you just like that, so... I agree that more situations with harsh morality choices and maybe some unexpected displays of ego or lack of empathy would be welcome. I think Sagani is the most one dimensional character, but she's just such a doll, that I can't really be angry about it. Most of the characters certainly got the potential for evil in them as well as good. Which makes them more "human". EDIT: Kana is pretty one dimensional as well.
  8. Lack of evil characters? I love how the characters in this game are more complex than that in that regard. People aren't evil or good, that's a flawed conception. Evil characters always end up being tropes or just one dimensional.
  9. Don't you read what other people write? They didn't have 4 million extra. The company was broke, the 4 million dollars made the entire game. Get your facts right. This is a 100+ hours game made with 4-5 million dollars all inclusive. It's rather impressive.
  10. Rather short for a 4-5 million dollar game? :D The kickstarter wasn't "extra" money, it was the main source of money.
  11. It really breaks immersion in the roleplaying experience, if monsters drop random stuff. Economy isn't an issue. And if I have played a game before with this much junk? Have you played the IE games. The only difference is the stash. If you just play without it, and manage your inventory, this is like that. Or you could just not pick all the stuff up? I really fail to see any problem here, this is not a dungeon crawler like Diablo, it's a roleplaying game.
  12. Well, that answer is obviously Pirate.
  13. Would it help if OE color the right, polite answer blue and the bad, wrong answer red?
  14. Wasn't a selective quote. I took his words from the video, didn't quote the written update, which I should have included. I fail however to see what the problem is? It's a big city, it doesn't have to be as big as Baldurs Gate to be a big city. If you feel they should have matched Baldur's Gate in size, that's bad for you.
  15. What is a huge city? The selling point was this -> Quote Joshua Sawyer from PE Update #20, about the second big city stretch goal:" Multiple exterior maps, bunch of interior maps, bunch of characters, bunch of quests". I say Twin Elms got that. It's not as formidable as Defiance Bay in scale, but it's a big city in IE perspective. I say they made good on their promise. The lore about the different groups in Twin Elm is really cool, and the quests and locations, Bloody Sands etc., are pretty cool. I do regret doing all other quests before venturing into Twin Elms. like Luckmann pointed out, it felt very late in the game. I think my experience would have been better, if I had gone there way earlier and done some stuff, gone back to defiance Bay and so forth.
  16. I tell you it looks very awesome. I could tell you how to do it, but I won't take the joy of discovery away from you.
  17. I almost made popcorn while reading the OP. Why would you need to use Foucault, and Nietzsche to validate your argument? You're not writing a paper here. And are you serious about PoE being flawed because it can't support your extremely specific type of character? You make a character with low defenses, you get knocked on your ass. That's the deal. Can I expect a response featuring Hegel or Bourdieu? ;-)
  18. I haven't claimed anything. I am not a part of this debate. This is a fruitless debate with people too invested in their own situation and agenda to ever yield any productive outcome. I merely commented on you trying to act like you want facts and then throw irrelevant claims around. Have you ever met a high profile scientist? Because it sounds like you haven't. They're not epitomes of truth and high standards. That a woman is offended by something isn't causally linked to her profession you know.
  19. With that you just lost any reason for anyone to take you seriously.
  20. Oh I would love a dungeon or city set with an Ankor Wat inspired architecture. I know that's a tall order thou and that it has to fit the lore and story etc. But it would be awesome.
  21. Let me help you out OP. The game was made by a bunch of young guns. Having a crack at them computers! This is a live stream from Obsidian, they're currently making the PoE expansion
  22. I am a white heterosexual male, and I have every right to comment on what is offensive. Your false reality doesn't apply to me.
