What You See Is What You Get Loot System
TheisEjsing replied to Sensuki's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I got Messerschmidt's Reaver from a bat in Diablo 1. That seemed pretty legit. Why keep immersion with boring +1 ****, when you can have epic loot. -
Question about postcards
TheisEjsing replied to TheisEjsing's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Great news and thanks for the rapid response. -
Hey guys (devs), I have pledged for the Digital collector's edition, which includes a thank you postcard. Obviously, that's really cool, but since I'm a digital backer, I haven't got any shipping address. So, will the postcard be digital or will I get to enter my address for the postcard at a later point?

The Official Romance Thread
TheisEjsing replied to Blarghagh's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It actually is harder to portray. The classic JRPG romances are made the way they are because it's easier. When you're writing romance, it's way harder, and much more expensive to deal with the changes that happens after the romance starts. The character development and the change in group dynamics etc is not easy to make credible. That's one of the reasons why most games with romances ends with some defining quest, event or battle after the shagging. -
Flame of devotion with an arbalest?
TheisEjsing replied to dunehunter's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
But but but!! You can pull the trigger really hard on a pistol with 18 str. :D -
I actually like these loading screens better than the ones from any IE game. They're so lush and nice. ^_^

Yes I noticed AI bugs. I probably only played about 12 hours, but I found many things improved compared to my previous experience. Combat was less confusing for me, and it had a better flow. Some battles were easier, and a few were harder as you also concluded. I didn't however, try to break the build, I tried to see if I hit bugs, playing how I would normally play. As I said, you made alot of valid points, and I think we all appriciate your dedication and hard work. I just found it more fun to play. I don't agree with everything you said, like the hair, but it's hard to have a constructive argument about aesthetics.

Better yet, a 2015 calendar with images of scantily clad PoE characters (take your pick of gender)! That's what any game needs. Great idea Lephys! Throw big heads on top of that, then we're really talking!

Aug-Oct PoE BB - unwelcome similarities to DA2?
TheisEjsing replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Well guys, there's at least one point where the games are different. In the good old bedroom. Am I right? Bruce knows what I'm talking about. -
PoE Guidebook by DarkHorse
TheisEjsing replied to C2B's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Oh March 11 would be SWEET. Turning 30 March 10th. Big party, sleep, PoE to ease the hangover, and the likely shock to wake up being 30. :D Please be March 11! ^_^ -
Don't worry mister topic creator. The game will have Polish. And Russian too for your friends in the east.

Encounter density and area sizes
TheisEjsing replied to IndiraLightfoot's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I agree about the maps being rather content packed. I hope some areas are larger than the ones we got, but I feel it's pretty smart to give the beta, maps which have alot of content. Like let's say, Valley of Tombs in BG1. I think it will feel artificial if all maps are this action packed. But I'd prefer a little more action than some BG1 maps, let's say North Naskel Road. -
Really old player here.

I want to see Corpses hanging from trees
TheisEjsing replied to StrangeCat's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Why would secretive cultists hang corpses outside their village, and why would the normal villagers? The idyllic facade is, in my opinion, one of the things, which makes the village so cool. -
Mishandled development
TheisEjsing replied to Malignacious's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You always talk about arguments, yet the premises for your arguments, are in conflict with the fundamentals of the game. One example: - Why not 6 classes instead of 11 ?? "Do you really think that gameplay archetypes can be achieved if you shove as many character labels and "unique" spells as possible, instead of just dispersing various pertinent talents and abilities, properly implemented, across 6 classes?" This game is a spirituel successor to games with much more than 6 classes, and additional classes were even stretch goals... Which means that your 4 million dollars are earmarked for, among other things, more than 6 classes. Jeeh, it's like kindergarten all over again with you.- 80 replies

Is Obsidian trying to rush this game?
TheisEjsing replied to ctn2003's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Earlier in the project Sawyer talked alot about deadlines and how important they are. Dodging DA:I is one matter, but when the devs reflect on the IE games, one of their main lessons were to limit the game both in scale and the project time. I don't think they are going stray far from the plan they made after the final pennies were in the bank, and they stated that we gave them too much for a summer 2014 release. On a sidenote and I might be wrong on this, but I don't think pcgamer would put PoE on the November cover, if the game were to arrive, let's say in May. But no matter how patient the good backers are, and how much we want a perfect game even if it takes more time, it's not about rushing anything for Obsidian. It's about running a business, and believe it or not, making the best game. All we can do is judge them on the end result. -
Yes, I am the moron. You sure told me!

You think it makes me feel better, that you're being a racist? That's really deluded..
-
Human: Caucasian Elves: Asian (intelligent, feminine look, long life span) Dwarves: Scottish (accent) Aumaua: African-american (muscular, rougher skin) Trolls (warcraft): Jamaican (accent) First of all, that has to be racist in some way. And if you argue on the terms of the game, why would you compare Aumaua to Africans? The game already has black humans.
