  1. Prestige classes (complete with some unique gear). Instead of D&D's class/level/stats classic route, I really think there is potential in the advanced reputation system. Say, if you're really stoic, you can become a Reasonist or something (I'm not that strong in stoicism. ). Whips, walking sticks and boomerangs would also be pretty cool.
  2. Well Luckmann you're gonna be dissapointed then. In your stronghold, as Josh visited it, there was only one bed where your party sleeps. And you can run around for 100 day/night cycles without traveling or resting if you so desire. And they're all easily explained as design choices.
  3. I can't recall one game, where I thought: "This vendor gold limit really enhances my experience!". Of all the unrealistic factors you must accept to enjoy computer games, endless vendor gold in a RPG is one up there with no bathroom breaks needed and sharing one bed on the "easy stuff to accept" scale.
  4. It would be fun to see Fergus play. Let the busy businessman kick back and explore abit. ^_^
  5. I think PAX south was entertaining, so keep the funny comments up for sure. Many good suggestions here, but one thing I think you lacked in PAX south and most of your presentations is equipment. Equipment was really important in the IE games, so it could be cool, if you showed some awesome stuff to the potential buyers and backers. Show an awesome armor, a cool sword or bow. People like cool loot!
  6. It's always nice when devs respond to your post, if you have a concern about the game. But personally I find it much more productive that devs read the forum and discuss the feedback internally most of the time. The difference between a dev and a backer in terms of information is big, and it is very time consuming to debate a mechanical issue if you a) have to explain the underlying problems and solutions in development to the backer or b) debate from the estimated information on which basis, the backer construct his/hers argument from. No doubt it's fun to interact with the devs, and you feel a sense of recognision. But that should not be the main priority, when dealing with feedback.
  7. It's sad when developsers need to have thick skin and some of them don't like to engage with forum users. It's easy to forget sitting behind your screen, that developsers are not shielded by anonymity like we are. I bet most of the foul language and harsh remarks wouldn't occur in face-to-face interaction. If people had to show their credentials and accomplishments before uttering their uncencored opinions on everything from mechanics and storytelling to marketing and marxism?? I bet the tone would be somewhat different. But since we don't have to do so, let's all reflect on the ideas brought forth in this thread.
  8. First of all @BlueLion, stop destroying the thread. Show some respect for the people who want to discuss PAX. Trueneutral has clearified the topic of this thread twice now. PAX wasn't too illuminating. If one has followed PoE closely, there wasn't much new about the game. Mostly cool recaps of past and current events. However I really like Avellone's comment on how devs can be allowed to be "professional" friends thanks to kickstarter. The sharing of ideas across studios really has a lot of potential. I found that part most interesting. Creative shearing between InXile and Obsidian, as well as others bodes well for the future of crpgs.
  9. Going with a human. No need to get all crazy from the get-go.
  10. The devs have been very active with updates, on the forum and on other platforms from the beginning of the kickstarter and up to now. Just because one specific dev gets too busy to interact as frequently, it doesn't merit some of the reactions in here. Besides, they're probably busy with stuff, so their silence isn't meant as an insult to backer X and his all important questions.
  11. I'll need to finish tetris before getting around to PoE. It'll be a while.
  12. Probably the wrong sub forum mate. And I just logged into origin, and my DA:I is still there and still unplayed since release. =)
  13. @ BAdler. Some people said the city felt kind of empty. Will there be background noise in the final game? The background sounds from BG 2 really made the city come alive. Hope you'll consider that.
  14. The livestream really pumps me up. Half of the time I'm muting the sound tabbing away in shame. The other half I'm eating spoilers and getting super psyched! AAAARGH!
  15. Yeah, I should have backed Farmville instead! I see the error in my ways now! *Quack!*
  16. Is it an official interview with spoilers or something more roguish?
  17. We all get tired of Irenicus dungeon. But first time I played it. It was AWESOME! The reflecting pools with the history and future of the world. The trap room. The genie. The dryads. Imoens comments on the test tubes, the library and on the duegars. The clones. Khalids death (HELL YEAH!) and so on. It was so cool, but after 20 runs, it gets abit repetitive. ^_^ If PoE can give me a first hour like that, I won't be able to think critically for the rest of the game. =)
  18. BG 2 was fantastic for the 14 yeared old me. When I play it now, the writing seems juvenile. It's still great, and the nostalgia gives it an upperhand to other games. But judging from the beta, PoE will be superior in writing. More mature, more in sync with the aging of the backers since the happy BG days.
  19. Eh, they could handwave that by calling them "returning" weapons. Boomerang! ^_^
  20. So you're claiming that since July, you haven't spent 20$ on anything nonessential? In all honesty. If you're that poor, I'm surprised you'd go and buy a video game with your very limited budget.
  21. I totally agree with the OP's faith in obsidian, but I have no issue with people trying to better the game. For one thing, the devs asked the backers to do so, and NCarver is probably the best example of a dev who is showing a lot of appreciation for the support. My faith in the devs are the second reason. I'm certain that they can make excellent development calls, without being swayed by individual opinions.
  22. I'm not certain this really merits a thread, but I can finally sleep at night, since I just read this on Josh's tumblr! "since a lot of people wonder, there are Boots of Speed." Hurray! ^_^ (And I apparently don't know how to attach a picture right).
  23. I meant neutrality in reference to freedom of expression. And understood, back to topic!
  24. Why is a forum without moderation something good? Most constructive discussion is done with moderation. If radicalists and obstructionists are free to sprout poison into the debate, it only halts progess. I don't wanna start a philosophical discussion. If you feel neutrality is the way to go, fine by me. I'm just saying that many scholars of the internet, in their own time, have rejoiced at the sound a steadfast banhammer.
  25. Okay, just reading these few posts, it seems clear to me, that the function of this thread is about ego, being right for the sake of being right and having fun, and not to expand each others horisonts. I like that a lot! ^_^
