APOCALYPTIC EVENT is coming ...beta...oh wait it´s the beta? YES the beta dude now get ready with your survival hand book and the holy bible and prepare for the COMING of the christ!... No that was just stupid and wrong it´s just the beta dude chill out and do your homework once you got it ..ehehehe and dont forget. NEVER drop out of school because of a beta :D HAHA... why dont you guys let the westboro church members throw "white" curses of godly destruction coming from the abbys of heaven at your game. I´m sure that would be a marceting hit!

I must say that i only played IWD1 and i only was some kind of a combatant. I understood something of the story but i didnt realy cared. I loved the adventuring in it (exploring new areas and fighting) stealth some tactical thinking and loot. Thats what is was for me. And i dont know if it´s so clever to include super good, boring neutral or murderously evil in a game that has one main tale to go trough. Yes the ending can be different but if it´s just about the defeat/ killing of a villain you KILL him anyway... so all the good, neutral and evil part doesnt matter in terms of taking away a life even you save many many others maybe. I dont like that concept for a main story. for a sidequest it makes sense because it does not change the script of the original thought the tale is based on.

I think that something went wrong with romances in games. Yes i liked the feature in BG1 and i also liked the interaction with minsc (I´m always a dude) and so on. The problem i have are the characters, if there is no outstanding "personality" in a game other then he/she is agressive and likes to punsh anyone in sight, a day dreamer who also is a bookworm or the beauty but she is very innocent and doesnt cares about looks...eh. So stereotypes that are done since the early 80s in movies (bad college B movies btw) modern games resurrected them, gave them a new outfit and haircut but are in reality boring as hell (if you are older then 30 fir sure) or you already know who they are. And then you have these strange backgrounds that explain one specific kind of psychoness in them that has to be played out one time in the game so all that writing was justified right from the beginning. So why have I a motivation to romance them is the only reason and point a game has to give you. So if there is no clear motivation for me to romance anyone other then...i WANT to romance someone and i dont care which idi++ it will be WHY care? all this thinking leads me to the conclusion that it is the very individual and edgy personality a character must have that i even think about hey why not. That could be funny..FUNNY! I dont want to marry them anyway...for what..a baby? come on... Do people know what kind of motivation they have why to romance someone in a game? What is it that made younger people being motivated to think about romancing NPCs ? so in the end i´m very happy that PoE has none of that. Strong personalitys dont need to much talk. Just some strange actions they do, how they may look compared to the "other" crowd and so on. The ingredients of a personality that is interesting is nothing that easy to do if you DONT want to appeal to the masses.... STAN from moneky island is an example or that tiny stinky dwarf Largo... you remember them your whole life i think every character in the early lucas arts games or even sierra games have personality that attracts attention.

I thank you for the risk you took when you guys worked out the game design without knowing if the kickstarter idea plays out. Taking that risk alone with so many people working in a company is worth a thank you very much guys

Bioware has morphed into a hollywood studio or is the hollywood game studio now a days. Shallow stuff that looks fancy and their writing only seems to be deep but realy interesting conflicts within a story is not longer what they can do. It´s like transformer deepness mixed with some titanic drama. Maniac mansion is deeper then anything they wrote after after yes... choose your game. Take COLONELS BEQUEST and show todays bioware writers what writing an interesting story with thrills is! About strongholds...well i think it´s cool from Obsidian that we can get one as an ambience feature for romantic "adventures" ...not romantic romancers. EAware... i dont care. If people would have compared DA2 to the Witcher 2 DA2 would have got a rating of 0.5 out of 10! And that is not a question of taste, but of quality in everything. I´m so happy that Obsidian is NOT dependant on any "marcet" sniper sitting in an office with only money in his mind this time so every comparison goes like this. AAA title that is hollywood style but sucks so or so (mass appeal) vs a hand crafted game done by an independant developer atm!

To show honor and to impress woman IS a motivation and what he said is off not my words. I used both kind of people because both are extreme personalitys in extreme situations and yet they did what they had to do for honor, fame and wealth but not for romances. Interests play a role too but where females have anything to do with adventures and crusades is beyond me but ehm... And sex was never a part of a deep story. IT was to get the yes for marriage and the love but people like you throw it all in one can...And greeks were sex addicts nothing more. Try to search in old germanic tales or else to find something more deep then humping young boys etc. Problem is with your "storys" that you use cultures that are heavily patriarchel and so it´s always just a shell of a realy deep relationship between 2 human beings that are equal on every level. And if you know "bittermoon" you should know the difference between obsession, sex and love

I always had an interest in adventures and this topic influenced my whole life. So it´s not one or many games it´s the topic itself but yeah BG and IWD games for sure. It´s an iso RPG in an european (i think every RPG is) influenced medieval fantasy setting. And i always check out what studios do who worked previously on RPG´s especially someone who did NWN2.

Thank you for the information but im not interested in being a beta tester. I could have said nothing about it but i thought some people are still sane enough to want to play a game rather then write bug reports like real beta testers do when they take it serious... i will wait for the release and am sure everything gonna be tested out by others :D

USually people like that are called sadistic beasts for a reason but hey this is not a public forum for a game no it´s some creepy forum somewhere hidden in the darkest borders of the I-net. Welcome to 2014 where everyone can think rape is an element of relationships and love storys too. Muh muh muh where are my pills i´m just an ordinary dude never dated a girl so i have to infiltrate forums remembering city rampages of mass gang rape, child killings and burnings and call it "romantic"... ehehe. wow guys. You thought out that soul/ reincarnation stuff pretty deep. I know a bit of our own world reincarnation theorys and I like what you are describing. It makes sense to me even i´m not the ultimate mind guru. So another big + for PoE where things are not just "background" images but a rotating world with essence Love that!

See. damage types and things like that are elements of a RPG. So thank you obsidian for giving me once i can play a good time learning and uncovering a cool new rule set. That is what matters to me. I love to think about the possibilities of different weapons and how they effect this or that type or armor!

City of doors is awesome. Sigil is such a unique place with so many possibilities you can create dozens of campaigns alone in the city and surroundings. But a divine level BG3 wouldnt be my interest. IF anyone ever does a BG3 please start from level 1 thank you and let us go on another epic adventure with new tales to experience. Dark Queens of Krynn was an end of a legendary game and so was pools of darkness i recall. It´s over once you have completed a story and dont force yourself into something that could feel like an "excuse"....

For animated windows it´s pretty easy. I did that for nwn. Just create a fading (gradiant) layer around the mesh of the window frame and animate it getting brighter a little bit in sync with the light source coming from the interior. So a torch or candle lit interior creates a flickering etc. Thats it. Nothing fancy but it definately improves the scene alot because you have things that "move". Movement in the environment always creates an organic feeling. Animated textures can achieve great effects and it´s pretty underrated today because of modern hardware. But some things can be much better brought to life via hand drawn animations.

so true what the romance faction is doing to rpg games. I dont remember myself thinking about romances when i played dungeon master, the SSI games, gothic 2, temple of elemental evil etc. Baldurs gate was only ONE game that did that... now bioware is rolling along the path of "diversity" and so they choose to include romances for everybody. I´m sure someone at EA had the idea to do it because of MONEY and not because he is such an open minded guy who cares about minoritys and so a game stands for the fight of these people (and i´m right that they did that only for money) as an example. That would be ridiculous to think... it is money nothing more. Why i think that? EA is EA! But back on topic. Romances have nothing to do with RPG´s. I also never romanced anyone in one of our old D&D sessions. Nope no one thought about that. Why is that? I think we have a new breed of people who transform their DREAMS into anyone else games and so they preasure their illusions into the minds of others. RPG´s are adventure games. You are an ADVENTURER and when you know you are going into creepy terrible cave, crypts and dungeons etc. i doubt you would think about some very deep relationship. Anyone think that an indiana jones type of guy or a crusader (choose who you want) thought about romance romance romance and getting laid during their trip? I guess not... so this is all done because of money money and money and they sucked in a lot of strangers imo. So i want to say that veterans like me are adventure RPG gamers and you are new school who have a strange view on rpg games, thats it! People also like final fantasy games which to me are just strange. I cant play that crap because it´s just strange for a european dude like me. SO whoever wants strange things in regular games play a strange game from a weird company. Nothing against this type of games but it´s something for others and i think it´s better to have games for these and these kind of persons. A clear line between styles and l influence of their cultural heritage. Cultural heritage plays a big role if you want it or not. For me it´s easy to understand gothic and the witcher immediately but not some zelda or whatever game because it´s alien to me. I can play these games for fun but not RPGing that. It´s like you put a wolf in a disco.

... how can someone argue so much about their daydreams of romancing others in a public forum (yes you namelessthree) ? Isnt it a bit scary that people share their insights what they want i mean hey... this is a place (like EVERY other forum) where different people come together and are not interested in the deepest feelings one has about their oppinions about relationships. I always feel like being thrown into a freakshow when someone expresses his view about things normaly only "friends" know of you. Be a bit less open in public thank you and think that the I-net is not your best buddy. It´s a random place and everything you write can never be erased so keep your secrets for yourself. Damn man whats up with all this exhibitionism about feelings and emotions! When people want to be emotional go and do something good for mother nature, plant a tree and dont buy crap etc. But stop that silly romancing arguing about nothing of value! It is not cool and not in your interest to tell others what psycho romances you dream off and how what if this complex situation can be blah blah blah... it´s so boring hell math in school was ehm but this is way more headache!

not all people are "romantic dudes" with to much emotions somewhere... We dont want romances. When we talk about "romances" then please "normal" interaction that makes sense. As i said, romantic is nice for a very few guys but not for the most of us. YEs interaction and NO silly romances that are tales straight out a book for oversensitive emos! BEcause seriously when i play a hardcore RPG slasher (i used these words wisely) i dont want to facepalm of stupid romances. We are all very very different in our personalities and most romances "these" days are so generic stupid i dont want them and i dont even want to hear about them. When i need to gulp i visit imdb and read the statement by twilight fanboys there you have facepalm so much and i know that these silly storys /romances have influenced mainstram studios in their thinking what tweens want. But no no no, thats only for the strangers outthere! As for PoE this game has to stand on its own feets and it has the magic to do so. BG and icewind dale games are legends and games that you can take inspiration from but POE is PoE and should stand out on it´s own!!! And one thing i suggest to some people. Use your OWN imagination and romance this or that one and be happy that you have gotten an amazing game in the end. USe your mind and enjoy your "dreams" ! Thats for what your day dreams are for And to people who think biowares romances are good or great then i TELL you NO, only the level has decreased and you are guilty of that. Raising the bar like southpark Cameron had to do is the only option we have to crawl out of that romance garbage!

If people would say that they want INTERACTION then i can understand them but if they talk about romances only i dont get it. Interaction is not dating the opposite sex of you and one day you "got" it. Interaction between people is the same as in real life. Friendships, enemys, just random chatter that could matter at a later time etc. So it should be about interaction and not "romancing" i slowly hate that romancing stuff because its just childish. A good relationship between companions dont mean having sex some day. soldiers in the army dont do it with each other just because they are comrades... i hope these "specific" people understand one day that "romance" is only 5 % of human relationship!

MMO´s are the places for teens who dont go out like we did back in the day. Someone should make a MMO where you can play football and hide and seek and this cool stuff you did in real life...or better. Nail the mmo gamers to their seat and set them on fire! No one outthere will miss them anyway :D

I dont even want to "play" bugtest a beta. I want the whole gaming experience when it is ready and i dont mess up my own joy and excitement visiting each area for the first time once i definately know i can also complete it. So why are so many beta horny? Is it better to test a buggy beta then to enjoy the finished game? I dont understand where is the point... well... other then hell yeah me beta man :D from planet betanistan of uncomplete gaming experience but dont matter cuz i rock anyway... lol So i will never ever again playtest a beta. I did that one time before and it was just "work". We had fun yes but i had to stand up right in the night because of the different timezone. That was one hell of a test! But great memories anyway. And now it kicks in, many ppl may dont be aware that a betatest is work and not just enjoy me leet i can play now i´m somewhat a special choosenNinja! Yes this chosonNinja from youtube. This guy is so mental in beta... now you know what can happen if you dig to deep in betas!

feudal europe or victorian london is not PoE so we dont realy need child abuse or anything like that. It´s a medieval FANTASY game and not a terrible real live sim where the inquisition burned trough the lands and killed of half the female population if not way more. Nobody knows what reality the medival period realy was. We only have some books which "honest" accounts are always questionable and paintings which tell much more. You can never portray the dark ages in a game that comes close to these times. You would create a nightmare of a game where death is everywhere, fear your best friend and starvation and torture an ordinary thing! So all in all, good that PoE is a fantasy game and not a sinister portrait of the medieval times where the demon worshipping popes ruled! Because if you take out all the silly history "professors" tell you about this time... books were rewritten how many times just to fit in the right context of rulership and just look at the drawings of torture etc. Thats where the reality looks back to you and i doubt there was ever something romantic. Even the sex was dull and boring, sex was a sin. Everything good was a sin! Just not for the establishment. WE know that the elite enjoyed everything and didnt cared about god... or lets say they made their own portrait of a god and religion way better then what the people had thrown at like a dog bone. The most priests in the drawings are FAT how is that?--- well....

The yound woman is definately not your ordinary date but i think she looks highly likeable.... her shape is very edgy and she has something special imo. ANd she looks very human, just not the typical trash model you see in the mags or on TV. Natural, cute and very clear-cut. I like it. And she looks a bit bored to be portraied... that fits a fighter pretty well. She doesnt earn anything trough her beauty... which she has anyway!

I never realy enjoyed MP games. There was only one game that i found cool to play in MP but only because i modded it... i just love SP games. There i can play how i want and pause when i want and i have no others around me ruining my time. I think for lone wolfs SP games are much better and i dont even have that "social interplay" thingy in my head. It doesnt play a role at all. I dont need other gamers when i play and i dont even get that feeling what it is that people enjoy so much. Ok, if the AI or bots are terrible stupid then it makes sense to run and kill other gamers instead because of the challenge but eh... challenge and competition... no i never had the time for that either. So yeah SP games and screw the MP crowds! And i find these clan people just bleh... always sitting in their l33t forum and talking bad about other "gamers" totaly wacko in their mind that they are somewhat special because they spent their WHOLE day playing a game... just a game you know guys? hehe.... well. This whole mentality of them are realy what troubles me. But i must say that with some buddies over from the nwn community i wouldnt hesitate to jump in some crazy adventure and just have some fun. Just to have some funny moments killing and enjoying some cool crazy adventures. Yeah, that would be ok for me. NWN and BG games are an exception!

thank you for the update guys. Fighter classes are what i play the most so this was appreciated ... but now i sit here not having the game ... uahhhh i want my video footage.... :D Nah, joke aside. I´m happy to wait until it is ready and since i´m not the "evil"... publisher why should i start to act like them... anyone? So thanks again for you jumping in here answering questions I realy want to play the game... damn! PS: and no one can define when a game is in beta except the people / devs involved so any discussion about when how and what why not is just hot air!

I´m so excited about this game i just thought about what i will do on the day it comes out. Buying 2 pizzas some sweets enough coffee too etc. Man this is great already now finish it please! And thanks for the links... i must say that this e3 press thing was a good decision because now i´m so much more excited somehow then before So get that back to work :D
