  1. I love the water. And you know what? I love the water scene... i realy do! And you know what? ... i LOVE the water! and i also like the look of the grassy hill building area! Keep up this great work guys sounds all exactly like you told us... quite the different way as the regular publishers... here the truth rules! And thanks for pointing out the game witchmarch... looks to be fun. I still like pixel games that are cool
  2. true. And i didnt say it´s not good to mention things that doesnt seem to be correct or cant be improved!
  3. hmm, to me the whole question of modding a game like this is the "replayablity" of the map/ level you are doing. I started with mapping for sof1 (half life 1 time) and am a nwn dedicated modder but when i imagine i work on a little area for more than a week for just some run downs, trading or 1 single fight i would consider myself somewhat stupid to be honest. Why waste my time on an area where people just rush trough in less then an hour and than thats it ? So this whole modding thing here is way beyond anything that a FPS MP modder is doing where his map is used for month after month. Thats why i think doing areas for "infinity engine" like games might be nice to do if you have to much time but it´s nothing that supports your goal after a one-time run trough. And so my own conclusion is it would be a nice "presentation" on what i can do with my design tools available but nothing again on what i can consider, hey thats cool... lets play there for a while you know?!
  4. I realy realy like your complete art approach this time guys. The way you have managed to combine 2D and 3D is perfect imo. Perfect in the sense that it looks great and seems to suck me into the environment. The atmosphere is there and you focus on the details that are essential in a way to round up everything into a balanced experience. Everything in a game has to fit in and yeah, thats what i see here. someone mentioned that dynamic sun or "moon" shadow... well. I couldnt care less as long the area feels "natural" or believable. And the windows are cool, i love animated windows... i know that from nwn So once you start focusing on a little bit floating feets of a creature by focusing on it permanently you destroy your own view of the scene later once you PLAY it. You dont run around checking for little bugs imo... thats what QA is for :D
  5. In IWD and BG i died so many times there were moments i realy thought ++++ that i quit! I loved it in the end when i finaly managed to survive the fights and could move along. Thats how it should be! So yeah, make it difficult like these two games and bring it on! To prepare yourself and use tactics is an element of gameplay to me in RPGs. I cant stand a game where you rambo through the events as if it is a movie! That damned firekragg in BG2 used to cost me around 3 hours alone i remember and it was like an addiction to be slaughtered again and again... but this was a great experience once i could shout out loud ++++ you firekragg i killed you!!!
  6. I´m sorry... i did write first before reading your post.
  7. I just love you guys for NOT having romances. This trend suxs so much to force silly romances into games it´s not cool anymore. So thank you for being honest to yourself for not messing with romances cuz most of the time they are silly and teeny like affairs in the dumbest situations you can imagine... IT was cool in the BG games no doubt but thats it. Not that i dont think you writers couldnt come up with interesting relationships but they bother me most of the time and are realy just that, annoying and not seriously thought out. You also dont want to have a dozens of pages with "i want to romanZE" this dude and that one and why not bla blubber...
  8. I dont need a romance in a rpg but funny or edgy companions for sure. A crazy dumb dude who randomly attacks villagers because of his terrible migraine or the creepy guy who stalks every woman, disappears by night (in towns) and is back in the morning totally exhausted or a bit bloody etc.
  9. That sleep gives you back your health is beyond me and always was. It´s ok to regain the power for casting spells because it´s no damage and just mental fatigue but healing wounds caused by a zombie horde... is bleh! Please find a way to make it difficult from the start to end and let us fear the creatures and dangers in your game!
  10. hmm... Ultima 7 is a prime example on how to "do" a city. There was not one single npc who not had a home. Everyone had his own bed in his house Sir! Just to clear that up. There was no spawn point or something where npcs just pop out of nowhere at dawn... Also every npc had a whole day/night cycle with a job or just a duty etc. Games like Dragon Age are minimalistic is this sense compared to a game that is so old and yet gives them a lesson on what real ambience means So thats where to look at when trying to create a town with something called economy! And i remember too getting involved into baking bread... get the dough, put in water, put on stove and dang! BREAD! Great game, really unforgettable memories just doing random things, breaking into houses and and and!
  11. I´m for the mixed option too. But what´s important to me is dont place monsters randomly just for the gameplay/ difficulty. Make them believable in the places where they appear.
  12. Troika... what can i say. I always wondered what these guys could have unleashed....
