The guy just wants romances because bioware does them. If you read his post you know that he first slimes his way across the devs and then out of the sudden ROMANCE must be in (after the beta is ready of course...sure thing!) ....Thats all. Since DA2 you can create a complete trashcan of a "game" and just create a text adventure with some options like.. 1: shes hot, i want to f*** her 2: shes hot, i cry before her and show her my emotions... and then i f*** her 3: shes hot, i rape her! because rape is for some people here and there "romance" 4: i´m gay i dont like girls! 5: i´m blind and her voice turns me off!

If they didnt say that the beta will be ready for mac/ linux then there is no reason to be upset at all. .. Usualy you say what you support and not what is out of question...but i remember the stupid story of someone throwing a cat into a microwave and then complaining about the exploded kitty because it wasnt stated in the manual that kittys dont come out very healthy....

yes... the romance option is more important then the main story... so the whole tale of the game is not important but the dating ... and screw combat and adventuring too....who needs that in a RPG anyway.....to be honest i HOPE not one single person who thinks that way will ever be considered to be a serious game designer!!! Somehow this thought alone from people makes me angry. Maybe I do have a very dark side that reacts to that dont know... what kind of common sense is that where one thinks a RPG only needs romances ? What has gone wrong.... An IQ test for gamers is what we need before anyone can post suggestions in a forum otherwise we see people soon to pop up asking why there is no AK47 in PoE and where is the FPS mode... And yes i want my CTF mode and TDM in the citys!!!

Like the infinity engine games. The idea wasnt bad in NWN2 but 3d faces will never look as good as painted ones and i like the idea of just 2d art for portraits!

When i cast a fireball accidently clicking right in the middle of my own guys and burn them all alive that is funny ehehe.... But I think humor is pretty personal and i like dark and sarcastic humor that is pretty offensive at times uhuhuhu. So I hope the funny moments are raw and honest ... like... a skeleton with a clubfoot takes his clubfoot in his hand on perception, trys to chase you but falls down because his leg is in his hands hahahahaha. And then he takes the clubfoot and sticks it again on his pelvis but now he has no weapon so .... oh... and i have a great female troll torture method for humans that is funny to me...but i dont think you want to hear that....

Game is looking amazing! I love the intro, the character creation, the graphics are all beatifull and the game seems to feel ... yeah you guys nailed it!

What about Pillars of Eternity 3 man. How is that coming along? Team on full steam or what? I want everything... PoE socks, old socks of course worn by a dev while he worked on PoE2 and i want it now! But it must be signed in blood!

Thats an interesting topic how consoles have dumbed down games for PC. When i remember my first computer... which was an Atari 2600 that was a console. Then i got a c64 etc... so i think consoles came first. At least to me! But i agree that some games should be developed only on one specific platform. Imagine something like operation wolf with WASD keys only... But ruined gaming? If anything ruined gaming then it is the developers first (here i mean a few specific and not everyone in the industry) and then the gamers with no taste (so it seems to me). When the devs would just doing games instead of "products" because it is their PASSION and part of their life then things would be different. The adventure genre would be different for sure... And that some console duergars say that about DOS but surely get horny talking about COD is just our time. It´s pop. Gaming today is POP we have streamlined music, games and TV. The whole media is streamlined but there are enough real things outthere for me to enjoy.

I like the textures... well i havent seen the textures yet... no one here has realy with no acces to the game... But i think everything fits perfectly together. Oh man i can write walls of text about textures... i guess i can even identify many many textures people ripped from games and used in their "mods". I´m the texture detective call me doctor texture and not Dr. Greenthumb... Yep, textures are cool to have... you need good textures but that doesnt mean high res... nono... a texture or not to texture is the question! And without a doubt i have the best textures always for my stuff and i´m proud to say that... why? Because i think i have the best textures period!

We will never live in a perfect world... racism, islamophobia, jewophobia christianophobia, homophobia etc. will only be erased once we are all just one monotone human something that cant use it´s own brain anymore and is plugged into a computer that uses you as a drone to work and consume. We have hell and heaven here on earth depending what destiny (even it sounds harsh) you have. As long as money and consumerism exists you have poor and rich people and that is the biggest issue of everything imo. Racism was no issue in ancient times i bet but with the monotheistic religions it became a real problem and now money is the new age religion that is more destructive then the religions of old. So i dont see racism or homophobia as a big problem but the soulless zeitgeist of money rules everything and everyone sells out. But instead of trying to do something about the real problems arguing about the mentioned is more appropriate.... like another trend as always. Throw a bone of some enlightment into the media and let the "illuminated" few here and there telling like parrots the mass what humanism is or should be in the future not seeing their own inner demon who wants to force his oppinion on others... and if you dont see that i´m sorry for you

A RPG that is streamlined for console and PC doesnt mean it has to be bad. I´m used to PC gaming (keyboard + mouse) but i dont care anymore what other platforms a game company supports as long the game i play works for me. Every UI is different so i had to learn a few in my gaming experience (and i can just accept how it works without getting a wet forehead) and the only thing i worry is the renderer of the engine , the camera and that the game is a could-fit-for-every-nobody(consumer) something in the end. So streamlining a game can be bad if they want to reach just the average default mindset (or lowest common denominatior) of gamers today imo! And today they get away with everything and that is the GAMERS fault (or of the fanboy clubs that are honestly just awkward). companys can sell you any sh++ and know they get away with their garbage! Thats why i wait for honest and brutal reviews from gamers. But i doubt Obsidian screwed up anyone in their past (like ....), even i disliked NWN2 i know they did not sell trash! About PoE2.... i dont have PoE yet....

Goblinoids are just cool. I love them because the whole "race" of them is very diverse except they are all pure evil and they love or have to eat FLESH. Yes they do eat humans and elfs and i think they love elf woman the most. A virgin elf woman would make the best share for a slaver and I always imagine very mean and brutal goblinods when i write an adventure. I also think it´s uncool to make exceptions for them like a "good" orc or so. They are created in my imagination like saruman did them in the movie. I love that creepy idea that there is no single thing of "good" emotion in them except hate, war and FLESH since their first look into the cave or dungeon they were created. Everything around them is filled with evil. And yet they can be damn funny...if you like dark humour ... :D And yes Goblinoids are racists. But at least they eat what they slay! I never understood the half orc thing from D&D and i think it sucks. A halforc... ??? imagine how that comes together if they are created...

I may have missed the time where PC or console gamers came together, made an agreement that the other side just sucks and since then we have a warlike situation like kids arguing about which sandbox is the better one. I can enjoy games on a console and on a PC + the artistry you can do with it. But there were bad ports yes... but that goes back into the early days too. If you have the feeling that a specific game can only be good on a PC because of all the hotkeys etc, dont buy it for a console or visa versa or just wait for the reviews of the ports! Easy and stress free Guys on metacritics are always funny and damn honest!

In reallife commoners or stupid peasants would "smile" at you playing the happy shiny people card and next thing they do is to run to anyone who is competent and armed (a militia) and tell him about you not forgetting to ask for a return of the risk they undertook because they treated to kill you... rumor mill starts to turn. So if there is no real education and some culture diversity in the area you explore you can expect hostility. You always fear what you dont know, thats our own history and before you die you kill the thing you fear. And farmers should not even be able to read. They are stupid poor people who listens to the dude in charge and do whatever they can to get something they dont have. I dont know if the farmers are free in the game. I mean if they have a feudal lord because if yes you can be sure these criitters are very bad if you dont fit in their "common" worldview.

Persistant worlds with this engine? Never! Technically this 2d / 3d stuff is more time consuming to do as just real 3d and let the engine do the lighting and shadows for you. Anyone remember how long you worked on a "good" half life map? Or how long it takes to create a good custom tileset in NWN and try to keep every other detail in the same style? That is so much work and we dont even have a basic library of objects to start with, just nothing as 2d art that looks so amazing already that you cant just recreate in your freetime without working on it 3 to 4 hours a day for ... no. I bet no one is gonna do any new custom area that will fit in PoE later on. Thats just my honest oppinion as someone who is not unexperienced in that stuff and wishfull thinking never helped me. Online modules work not in every environment. Even people mod for BG in these days i only saw a handfull custom made areas and once i looked at the scripting stuff i thought well... forget it! NWN and NWN2 are the ONLY games you need for this. Be creative and work with the limitations you have and accept the challenge with aurora! Because what people have done with NWN no one seems to see. They just want this and that game to support mods and in the end all of them just went bleh... never to be heard of again. The witcher devs provided everything and what happenend? right... next to nothing but all wanted it so badly and dreamed of new castles and images in their brain...yes an image in a brain is worth nothing if people just talk.

I dont have a problem with consoles either. If they want to do it... why do i care...it´s their time and their money then because I already have my game bought for PC. And that console kiddys laugh at PC gamers is well... if i can only be entertained by a game but not inspired to be creative and start working with these opportunities then who is the low level? so PC gamers have a big advantage always just because you can use tools to do stuff yourself. Console players can only be consumers! Thats it.

I have no problem with people calling me a jerk... not thinking about what their own motivation is why they need romances? tell me.... why do you want to get the whole dating romance experience in a game? There are no experience points to gain... am i a material guy like madonna once did a song about? maybe???? lol realy. Think about your own motivation what´s the point of romance when you cant do real character creation for your own. Tell me one NPC you would date in reallife if you have no portrait of and try to imagine his fantasy background into our modern world.

Brothels are everywhere and having a good F**** after an adventure gives you more then having a headache or a depression why your silly henchman is angry with your cooking skills (oh dear it doesnt tastes like on da first date...you dont LOVE me anymore)... it´s ridicolous to compare a brothel (everyone should visit one in their life) and a romance!

There is another thing where i can rip that whole DA BS apart. When you focus on "we have romances in it for EVEROYNE" but the complete game is a wasteland in terms of interesting adventures, areas to explore and very interesting and difficult fights etc what have you done to a big crowd of people? You lowered the bar for almost everything that is gamedesign related except "romancing" and acceptance speech. That has nothing more to do with a game and should belong into a school. So romance is one tiny part of a game.... a little piece of a gigantic puzzle if you call it a RPG! If it is not a classic RPG tell it to the people and dont advertize this so called game that is nothing more then a book with some social brainwash. And roleplaying is not cozplay or gang bang in adventure games. It is character creation right from the beginning and then adventuring. But what do they do...they take away the ROLEPLAYING option character creation so YOU are unique and tell us now it´s romance... A little thing...changing the meaning of terms can be dangerous so please RPGs are RPG´s and bioware is not doing real RPG´s anymore. They do japanese influenced western action (minimal) RPG´s In reality what they do is doing a trash final fantasy clone with western style not knowing what they realy want and so are their games + romance!

I cant argue about your point because it is valid. But i still think it is a no go to do these kind of things. IT reminds me of others! Yet, it is up to everyone himself to do it or let it

I must say this is the only time i think i dont like it what Obsidian did here. PAying money for bug testing is a no go but hey... it´s your thing and i dont mind but have an oppinion about it anyway and i tell it like i feel. Paying for a beta sucks! Sorry guys doesnt change my view on how great you guys do with the game and how excited i am later!

@BruceVC Does someone pay you for being so slimy to Bioware writers? I mean... i can understand (no i cant but i tolerate them anyway) all the little girls who act like bieberellas in the 1000s romance threads on the bioboards but wow... guy...lol!
