Past level 3 certainly. BG(and D&D 2, 3, and 3.5) can be very tactical at levels 3-15. However at low levels, it is luck that determines success, not player skill or character abilities. Take BG1 for example, a mage will have a max of 6 HP at level 1. Even with max DEX and a casting of armor, a critical hit with a ranged weapon will drop the mage. There is no way to defend against this, at all. Thieves fare slightly better, but still can easily be killed in the early part of the game. Clerics, Druids, Fighters, Paladins, and Rangers fare better, but can easily fall to a dire wolf or bear, like the one lurking around the very first map. All in all, the early levels of BG are punishing, and even good tactics will result in death by unlucky roll. Now imagine starting Chapter 2 of BG at level 3. dread wolves, bears, that transvestite ogre, and bandits still can decimate a party, BUT with proper tactics the party can survive most encounters, even if a critical hit is scored.

Yes. They are making sex as realistic as possible. In all likleihood, it will usually involve one not being able to finish, one not being in the mood, and/or one wanting to do something "exotic" the other isn't down with. It will be EPIC.

In all fairness, in Hardcore D&D rules resurrection does cause a point of Constitution loss, which can be a HUGE deal. Still, the point does stand, permadeath is much more serious when it is truly permanent and not "dead until someone casts a spell".

Hurlie, all of us are grown men posting on a videogame forum. Crazy has sailed away long ago. Calax and I are just correct, Batman is overrated.

I've never liked Batman myself, always preferred Superman. My problem with DC is that other than Gotham or Metropolis, the settings really don't seem to have unique character. Some of the of the supporting heroes, as Calax mentioned, are what makes the universe work so I see it as a shame that those cities aren't as well fleshed out. I prefer Marvel though, their universe always seemed richer and more complex than DC's. On-Topic, a friend of mine played this, should I attempt to get into it when I have time?
