  1. I seem to be full of links today. edit: ~~~ Anywayz, I love lore discussion... I just wish there were more of it. Hmm, hopefully tho they'll save a lot for the Paths of Od Nua, it could really give it flavor. That's very mild criticism. Hopefully he will also do the next preview so that we can see comparisons.
  2. I'd seen the first one but not the second. The first one is worrisome, though they've been fleshing out the abilities and spells more recently, so... Which article was this? If they know something isnt working i do hope they actually try to remedy it.
  3. I had two reasons for backing this project, both corresponding to the only two requirements i need to back a kickstarter. 1. It was an idea i wanted to see come to fruition so much that i would want to risk an investment in it. 2. I trusted the developers. I didn't play Baldurs Gate, Torment, Icewind Dale or ToEE like many of the other veterans here, but i did play Neverwinter Nights 2, Mask of the Betrayer and VtM: Bloodlines. Bloodlines is to this day the game i have played through the most, 7 times I've finished it. Even when not mentioning the excellent Fallout: New Vegas i trust Obsidian to deliver on their promises. They have the experience, the ideals and the dedication to make this happen. Personally, I'm hoping for at least 40 hours and a memorable experience (I'm a completionist though), at best i will get the full worth of what i donated. On delaying the game: Don't speed up for my sake. What elevated my fears on some kickstarters must have been Grim Dawn. Sure it took years to even make it this far but goddamn if a single guy and some on-and-off guys made something awesome. On the mega dungeon i admit the double digits worried me but i suppose what will be the biggest time drain in it will be the difficult encounters. Oh, i also bought X-Rebirth.......yeah...at least egosoft is known for their patchwork. Still, nothing besides mute is going to remove that god-awful voicework.
  4. Lets hope the lack of stats and more skills will open up for some build variety besides just your choice of class. Anyone know something about it? I would make a thread on it for the theorycrafters among us since i haven't gotten any answers on this. Gotta hope a dev might see it and enlighten us.
  5. I like this idea just cause i feel its flipping the bird to publishers who would rather not have them for fear of offending people. Gods forbid established ideas are challenged. Gambling in The Witcher and the Dragon Quest games were great.
  6. To be fair, that fireball explosion was bad ass. It looked like a small nuke went off.
  7. Still pre-alpha. They probably know it, proper animations are apparently one of the more difficult things to make in games.
  8. Environment is lush and gorgeous, why i haven't seen stuff like this in high budget games before baffles me. The UI looks great except for some minor number clipping. Though, have you considered showing stat relations in a flowchart-like illustration? I don't see this a lot in games at all but i feel it could give players a useful overview, making it easier to properly distribute points in their build. Not that i cant figure it out myself mind you. Speaking of builds, will there be room enough among skills/abilities/stats for players to create builds to cater to personal playstyles besides the choice of class? Great update as always. Cant wait for release.
  9. Only ones i feel i cant judge quite yet is the poe trolls. I cant see ****. Skyrim has a special place in my heart, as does all TES games, but i never liked the trolls very much. They just looked too much like goblins overgrown with moss. Trolls are supposed to be enormous and inspire fear. Then again, I'm Scandinavian, so I'm a bit biased about my trolls.
  10. Monster, those were my tears.
  11. I have badges for kickstarter and backer listed on my profile but nothing is showing under the actual avatar.
  12. Seems im missing a K as well.
  13. Great logo, great backer site, but most of all, that magic nuke and protective sphere looked ****ing awesome.
  14. One of the best soundtracks I've heard is Dark Soul's final boss theme, also known as Gwyn - The lord of cinder's theme. Throughout Dark Souls you overcome incredibly powerful foes occasionally picking up the back story to it's broken world. Walking into the kiln of the first flame at the end of a long and arduous journey, you expect the worst. I easily overcame its guardians, the remains of Gwyns vanguard against the dark. Then i stepped through the fog, expecting the most difficult boss in the game and instead saw a decrepit old man lunging at me, a melancholic piano the backdrop to a very one sided fight. I felt actual pity for this character, this god who could not stand against the approaching darkness and was left a husk in its wake. This is also why i love this song. Its so melancholic and so atypical to what final boss themes are usually like. Because its not a boss theme, its Gwyn's requiem.
  15. Yeah you have to remember that since conversations here are stripped for all sorts of body language you can only rely on grammars and particularly the charge of your words. "Lying" is a negatively charged word. You used it about a developer, on their forums, among fans who willingly donated money to fund the game they are developing. Of course anything is gonna set us off. I'm not saying they weren't obtuse about their reasons, this is just how it is, people are protective when they feel they have something invested, which may be the same reason you posted your grievances.
  16. Finally the firefighters come to hose down this flamewar.
  17. I personally prefer a minimalist, but stylized approach. But as long as it meshes with the game i guess i can adapt.
  18. Dragon Age 2 was not a bad game. It blended into DAO's shadow like a black chameleon but compared to other non-Bioware titles it was pretty good.
  19. Thankfully, this game isn't based on D&D in any way. I'd rather have them do their own thing.
  20. A non-cliche/obvious, "i do bad things because I'm bad" antagonist would be very much appreciated. Its among the pillars that makes the distinction between a mediocre and a great plot. Make him sympathetic even and you've gone a longer way than most developers do. I just hate it when all i do is steamroll the antagonist and feel nothing about doing it. No relief, sympathy, sorrow, anger or anything. Exactly because an antagonist is the bad guy, they tend to get left out in terms of character development. Make us invest ourselves in the antagonist and it will pay back a thousand-fold in immersion.
  21. I disagree, better to standardize and balance power according to level. I dont see any other point in this besides the aesthetic of having a bigger number than your companions. If they are equally strong but not on the same level, or equally strong and not on the same level is a difference in ease of implementation, the former being the better in that regard.
  22. Thank you for your transparency. A failure of the games industry is its obsessions with keeping secrets, which inly cultivates resentment, particularly when fans are dissapointed by an aspect of the end-product. Being clear in your communications with your fans about what will and cannot be implemented would be great too because i think most gamers have grown extremely cynical and only ever expect any PR to be glorifications or outright lies. On another note, am i late for the "Big Update" or is it still on?
