PoE-saga MMORPG? Please?
Gyges replied to senturion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Christ's undead balls, hell no! Honestly, do you know anything about the costs of and how mmos are made? And you are asking this, in a forum dedicated to a game specifically tailored to the crpg market? The idea of this couldnt be more offensive if you suggested it got an fps spin-off.- 139 replies

Update #79: Graphics and Rendering
Gyges replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
I dont understand anything of this but those environments are works of art.- 192 replies

This. Daggerfall had a similar system which allowed you to choose special advantages and disadvantages, and the net effect of these then affected how quickly you'd advance in skills. That being said, I'm definitely one of those people who'll handicap themselves just for the challenge, especially if the game in some way acknowledges the handicap in e.g. how NPCs react to you, as opposed to it just being a stat penalty. Definitely, if i find an rpg i like i tend to really wring out as much of the dialogue and references as i can by choosing character variations over several playthroughs.

Sales Projections
Gyges replied to PillarsofEternity's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
They should definitely try to maximize exposure in the times before release for the least amount of money possible. Which means word of mouth and giving advanced copies to reviewers and youtube LPers and reviewers such as PDP, Totalbiscuit, Angry Joe, Yog, etc. -
Update #77: Art in Alpha
Gyges replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
That's probably some of the best 2D environment art I've ever seen. Armor looks great too but will there be unique looks to unique pieces? Also, although I'm not certain this is the topic for it, will unique gear be quickly replaced by more common gear a few "levels" above? Its just a bit of an annoying mechanic that seem to have crept in from arpgs.- 338 replies

No True Turn-Based?
Gyges replied to Christopholis's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
Just played replayed a patched and modded NWN2, was it the d&d based combat system that made it feel so sluggish? -
Great update, but one thing that irks me ever so slightly is the presence of red flesh on the zombies, indicating fresh tissue...on an undead. The other thing is the cat's upright position on walking even though its legs are better suited for either a hunched or prone prowl.

I never really liked playing druids but this one sounds pretty awesome. Kudos for making stag form look badass too. Paradox is better than almost any other alternative publisher out there as well.

Combat demonstration
Gyges replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
From what i recall, a dev said since they finished with South Park: The Stick of Truth they are getting a few more people to do animations, so i suppose we aren't gonna see anything until its up to par with what they consider "close enough" to the final product. -

Gyges replied to juanval's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This is why i love this project. People getting antsy because of a trailer, developer comes to the forums and soothes the masses. /thread -
A genetically gifted giant's thumbs up. I particularly loved the part about the companions dynamic development. The lore was very appreciated too because a factor in bad world bulding is using magic as a cop out for explaining why certain things exist. This, on the other hand was an interesting and satisfactory explanation.

Sheathe the swords.
Gyges replied to amarok's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
That would be nice, but its a few extra animations and polygons that might be better spent elsewhere if it hasnt already been implemented. -
For the complainers, remember we are probably getting an expansion. So douse your fiery breath and understand this will just give them more time to polish up and implement the many stretch goals we already won.

Update #72: Death Godlike and Expected Ship Date
Gyges replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
Looking great, are those helmet-like chitins actually horns? How do they actually see anything? I don't worry about the extra stretch goals, make great the many you already have and note down things for future expansion packs. Release is either November or December then. I'm not gonna hold you guys to that though .- 253 replies

New Interview with Josh Sawayer
Gyges replied to GrayAngel's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
It's been mentioned that they are aiming to reach level 12. The fact that they are about half way there is news to me; that may mean it's another year away. Fortunately there are plenty of other good CRPGs coming out this year to fill the void. It is encouraging to read that he speaks positively of future games if this does well. I'm also glad that there will be a large variety of monsters. But it was also mentioned that once South Park is done, they are going to take in more personnel. -
New Kickstarter incoming

Lets see the pitch, then we decide. But before that i would like to see some proper previews of PoE to convince me they are on the right path. -
Excellent, i was hoping there was room for personalized builds inside classes.
