  1. one currency, gold piece or equivalent. complex monetary systems are better for MMOs and such.
  2. I'm a bit concerned about the mentioning of roles, something I found incredibly annoying in MMOs, Dragon Age and D&D 4th edition.
  3. Cool although inb4 cries about boob-plate edit: doh!
  4. Anyone want to buy my account? I'll use the money to upgrade my pledge
  5. Could also have something to do with the fragmentation level of their soul as well I guess
  6. A struggle of class against class is a political struggle. There are always political struggles.
  7. Something I haven't seen much discussion on is the aspects of Death in Project Eternity. What is your opinion on death mechanisms? Would you prefer a Baldur's Gate style? or a more forgiving style? This is something I'd be interested in hearing about in an update (if Josh and the team have made any decisions on which angle they're going to go for the death system). I'd like to know whether it will be a brutal death system like Baldur's Gate or a more forgiving KotOR-like style. Perhaps they're going to use different systems on different difficulties? For example, on Expert or Heart of Fury mode, the BG style death? I think I'd enjoy the game if it used a KotOR style death system with party-joinable NPC deaths related to the story or as consequences of my choices in the game (but with some degree of avoidability, for instance, not a if you pick this option, Ashley Williams dies a la Mass Effect). if they're going that route that would be fine. However I wouldn't mind a harsh system like Baldur's Gate as well, that would also be fine. Do you think death should be permanent in Project Eternity? Should a Raise Dead or Ressurection spell exist?
  8. Is this a reference to Baldur's Gate? those automatic 20s on the first hit
  9. I'm sure if you asked someone who doesn't struggle with the IE games, they would be able to point out to you what you're doing wrong. They're really not hard at all, you just have to have a grasp of the mechanics and the 2E rules.
  10. Guarantee of Lossless music quality, announcement of who's doing the music and some samples Guarantee of an old-style Big Box with a fold-out front (not a small puny box with a slipcase and DVD) and a Cloth Map of the same thickness as BG2, not Dragon Age. Some better stretch goals (increased game length / sidequests etc)
  11. I like the extra cool items in Heart of Fury mode in the IWD series, but no extra experience please.
  12. To be honest I really hate games that make difficulty settings this way. I don't play easy mode so I don't care what they do for that, but I hope the harder difficulties don't just increase the hitpoints, damage and resistances. Some better ideas are adding extra monsters to encounters, better AI scripting, smart encounter design. One of the memorable ones from Durlag's Tower I remember was a set of platforms with bridges, the platforms contained Skeleton Archers (the stronger ones) and there were sleeping cloud and cloudkill traps everywhere, in order to disarm the traps you had to send your thief out ahead of the party, but you risked getting booked by the skeleton archers, so it required you to stealth in, disarm the trap, and then bolt back while you brought your fighters up into the fray. That was a good set of encounters that weren't necessarily hard per se, but required smart play to beat, rather than just laziness.
  13. I like the Baldur's Gate style the best. A line or few and the random comments as you walk by. A bit more voice for NPCs and Main characters in the story. You could turn that off in the options. There were 3 options for select and move. Always, Seldom and Never.
  14. I miss those really deep multi-leveled dungeons of Icewind Dale as well. Dragon's Eye cave was awesome as. One of my favourites.
  15. it will be an isometric game, most of the time you won't be paying too much attention to the spikes on your armor, unlike a 3D game where you're watching your rear view most of the time.
  16. I assume there will be some kind of random encounter system because they said they are going to make some skills related to getting around the world map more efficiently (avoiding encounters, increasing travel distance etc).
  17. As much as this is a lot like a D&D feeling. I also appreciate when you arrive at a tomb and it's already been looted :D
  18. The Witcher 1 swamp forest was awesome. +1 for an area like that. I think there's going to be some bog land kind of place but I don't know if it will be in the campaign. Something like The Neck from ASOIAF would be good too.
  19. "Throne of Bhaal style" NPCs solves this problem (I don't think I need to explain what that means). One of the mods introduced this into Shadows of Amn. However I'm sure the writers have an idea of what NPCs will be skilled at, so their skills will probably be pre-determined.
  20. And also due to the habit of projects getting a peak towards the very end of the campaign, some people just want to wait and see whether the game is worth the pre-order. There may be certain deal breakers that make people with this mindset pledge earlier, like upgrades to tier rewards or new features. Most people I've tried to convince to pledge are interested, but would rather just wait until it comes out, despite the price difference. Whereas they were right on Planetary Annihilation because of the gameplay footage.
  21. feargus stated in the faq that paypal will be available as of october 3rd. guess this will be announced with one of the big updates later.
  22. Still 20 days to go, I think it will do 3-3.5 if the updates and reward tiers are good. Someone did post earlier that Feargus said paypal would be open on October 3. Don't remember the thread.
