  1. As I pointed out in a different thread, even though I dont like cooldowns and they are a departure from the IE system, they could work if they get the numbers right. Dragon Age was really slow and clunky combat that just felt plain terrible, but the game doesn't want to be as fast as Diablo 3. I was thinking more along the lines of something you'd see in an RTS would be about the combat speed that you'd want. I will reserve my judgement until after I have seen the combat in play but I have to say I really, really hope it feels nothing like Dragon Age or an MMO.
  2. The first line for normal NPCs The first piece of dialogue before the first dialogue choice for party NPCs Fuller voice for major characters
  3. Actually yeah I am going to chuck double stress on more assets such as monster models that's something that REALLY went down the drainpipe after Baldur's Gate 2.
  4. Cooldown systems such as Dragon Age and Diablo 3 make me shudder. On the other hand ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldq1afiKQb8 If the game felt more like DotA except with waaay more abilities (not the look, but the smoothness / flow of combat), slower combat, move speed and pause .. that could be interesting. Although it wouldn't feel like an IE game I don't think ... (well who knows really). Dragon Age combat is too slow and clunky Diablo 3 is too fast.
  5. I prefer the BG1 system over the IWD1 system. For instance in a previous IWD game where I got a certain item I enjoyed but didn't get it in the second game, and got a worse one (or one that I didn't want), I reloaded and fought again until I got that item. If they're trying to reduce reloading (a la use of cooldowns), why have a random item system (unless it doesn't involve magic items, but I assume it might).
  6. **** political correctness. It would be cool to play a game like that, but perhaps not this game.
  7. I'm probably just going to second a lot of things already mentioned - More assets (weapons, monster models etc) - Major sidequest / faction quests is a good idea - Hire extra artists / programmers etc etc - like the Wasteland 2 Chris Avellone thing, that was a good money booster - Orchestral soundtrack - Hire some of our old voice actor favourites from Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, PS:T (Kevin Michael Richardson, Jim Cummings etc etc, you probably know who your favourites were) - Documentary - Russian, Polish, Italian translations is definitely a good idea
  8. I always used the To Hit rolls option in all the IE games that had it. I thought it was weird at first that your character would only do damage on 1/10 swings of his sword. Turned on to hit rolls, oh right, useless animations.
  9. 165 backers to go. Hopefully by the time I wake up in the morning. Wonder what Update 13 will be ! Besides changing an element of the game, what surprise are you hoping for in the next update? I'm hoping that they post some concrete information that they've decided on such as races or classes, or (dare I say it) a look at something they've made with unity already.
  10. Am I the only one who interfeered in that fight? I did the first few times as well lol
  11. The one where Garrick was speaking on behalf of the gnome was funny too. There were a lot of good comedic moments like that.
  12. Vas - A Feast of Silence (will link later) would be a good fit for the above comment Whoever mentioned Lisa Gerrard. Great live voice, not quite as good recorded. And she's EXPENSIVE. She declined the offer to sing on the Gladiator soundtrack at first, and only accepted when they offered her more money. That said, seeing her live in 2007 was the best musical experience I've ever had, and I can't wait to see Dead Can Dance next year
  13. The way I interpreted it was Expert mod is like 'classic mode' : ie - no help, no babysitting. think Baldur's Gate 1 / Icewind Dale 1 style. Normal is like : modern features included so that non-IE gamers can relate to the game (quest markers, numerical reputation scores, feedback, max HP after rest, max HP during level up, stuff like that)
  14. Hopefully the 50 Thousand surprise is good, I'm on the edge of my seat, ~ 280 backers to go. Get the word out
  15. Being DotA player I'd hate to see the 'holy trinity' as previously mentioned, seep into a cRPG like this (tank, carry, support).
  16. They also seem pretty keen on trying to keep as much of the big roles in-house as possible (I don't think we'll see a freelancing composer or portrait artist etc). May not necessarily be a bad thing.
  17. BG2 was basically completed in a year. They've already started the work, they don't have to submit milestones to publishers or have to work on an E3 playable demo that halts production. I doubt they'll need to postpone the release, but I don't care if they do.
  18. Gold won't have weight. So essentially you're not carrying it around. I don't care if it's kind of like digital money Not really an important aspect (or focus) of the game.
