I say use various Germanic type accents for Dwarves, and Nordic type accents for Elves. Use different accents for different regions/nations, etc. Since celtic(Irish/Scottish) accents tend to be used for more rough characters, I say use them for the more advanced renaissance cultures with the high societies and such. Newfie should be the halfling accent.

More reactivity. If I do a series of quests aiding the city watch, I want there to be less crime and such at night and more people walking the street. Or of I aid the criminal element I'd like to see more corrupt guards and muggings in broad daylight and such. Or if I clear out some bandit fortress I'd like to see scavengers looting the remains, or settlers moving in or something. Just more ways to show that what we do matters.

I would like the economy to make sense somewhat. If I'm in a town cut off from everything with little chance of resupply, the merchant prices should be gouging. This is enough to show that a real economy exists without having to model whole economic systems. I would like the world to react enough that if major stuff happens the map changes too. The third conversation option is far too much. I would npcs to react to their surroundings, but if I need to re ask a question I'd rather not have the npcs ridiculing me on my lack of information retension.

I would prefer something like Storm of Zehir. Explorable overworld map with skill usage.

Where is everyone from
Oerwinde replied to Sales101's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If someone was from St Pierre and Michelon, would they answer north america or Europe? I mean you could spit on Newfoundland from there, and is further west than NFLD, but is part of france. -
New world accents... I vote for newfie accents for a culture!

I'd like to see dwarves with nordic or germanic accents. Dwarves are originally from norse/germanic mythology, so why not.

Is this Arcanum 2 ?

Who has the rights to Arcanum? If Arcanum 2 showed up on Kickstarter I'd be all over that. -
A thought on PE's graphics
Oerwinde replied to Posbi's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I reinstalled BG2 last night and loaded up the widescreen mod and it holds up extremely well. The character graphics, animations, and interface really show their age, but the environments are still beautiful. Having 3d characters and a modern interface would basically wipe out the major gripes. Also, after seeing the mock ups of the new Shadowrun, it definitely shows how beautiful handmade backgrounds can be.- 22 replies

But all the modding tools were developed by the community I believe. I think the best way to go for OE is to develop the game in a way that is easily moddable. For instance, Paradox tends to do their games where most of their scripts and events and game settings, etc. are stored in .txt files. So all one has to do to mod the game is to open them up and change some settings, or look at examples of events or how countries are put in the game, etc. and copy them with their own changes. If Obsidian could do something similar, then they wouldn't even need to release any sort of tools and could just rely on the community to do what they want.

Someone with a heavily fractured soul that deeply affects him/her. A good person, generally upbeat, and uses humour to deflect from the issues that plague him. Possibly has his abilities go haywire sometimes due to the unreliable nature of his soul. Also, a character that isn't awesome. Maybe some peasant farmer who tags along on your adventure. A sidekick type that needs guidance but can eventually develop into a well rounded expert adventurer.

Voiced NPCs
Oerwinde replied to Gezzas's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
BG2 used voice acting perfectly. Main villain dialogue, and the first line in companion conversations. Adds character to the major NPCs, without sacrificing story or dialogue.- 91 replies

Intelligent Evil Playthrough
Oerwinde replied to d0riangray's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Intelligent manipulative evil would be fun to play. Having only a reputation meter goes a long way with this, as to be really successful at being evil, people have to like you. -
If it was something like Dorns Deep (upper an lower combined), something that was a little more interesting than a simple dungeon, but with the same level of history and story woven into it, I'd be all over that. Especially if the reward is something more than just epic treasure. If it was like a quest to clear the dungeon out so a faction could take up residence (Mithril Hall style), and the result is a new faction that gives out missions (possibly related to rebuilding said dungeon) and such, that would be kickass.

I say since magic is tied to the soul, using magic should stress it. Have a fatigue bar. Only refills with rest, the lower you go the more fatigued you get and you get penalties for being fatigued. Fighter/rogue powers would use the same bar with the same penalties. If your bar is emptied, powers start using health, and are less effective. You could combine it with a reagent system, having applicable focuses for powers makes it easier to cast resulting in lower fatigue costs. Damn, beat me to it.

Number of available companions
Oerwinde replied to Mathusss's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You mention only BG2 (and BG1). Have you played PS:T? It is night and day. One of my fondest moments in PS:T was spending half an hour or more doing the Unbroken Circle stuff with Dak'kon. One character, one topic, half an hour. And having high wisdom and breaking and reforging his faith was extremely satisfying. -
Number of available companions
Oerwinde replied to Mathusss's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
To the comment about it being hard to have an all evil party, evil characters don't really attract a lot of trusted companions. It would be nice to have hirelings and such that could aid in evil party makeup, as that would make more sense.
