  1. I'd like a mix between BG2 and Torment. While BG/BG2 probably had an XP balance of 60% combat/40% quest completion, I'd like it to be something like 30% Roleplaying rewards, 30% quest completion, and 40% combat. I'd also like it to be based a lot on character class, though I understand thats not likely feasable.For example, fighters should get xp bonuses from combat, thieves from stealth and thievery, clerics/mages from various related activities (turning undead, learning new spells, etc.)

  3. As long as they don't do it like swtor where they left out "normal" and only have gaunt, skinny, beefcake, and bodybuilder santa.
  4. I am not arguing that it would affect my experience. I put an argument that in spite of this reasoning there are more minority groups that PC should be optionally part of, only those groups are not as demanding as LGBT, despite being probably more numerous (i am pretty sure there are more allergic people nowadays than transgender). You'd be right about that. Approximate numbers put 0.3% of americans are transgender.
  5. There should be both joinable and non-joinable factions. But I would have many of the joinable factions be aligned with one or more non-joinable faction. So you could do missions as a free-lancer for the non-joinable faction, while showing your allegiance by joining an aligned joinable faction. Your influence in that faction should then be recognized by the non-joinable faction. For example, say you do freelance jobs for a national government, but don't hold an official position in that government. But you are able to join a nationalistic organization and rise in the ranks. The national government should recognize your commitment and your position of influence, while not being officially associated.
  6. The site flat out says its a trend, not a projection and to not take the number seriously. I'm estimating that it will bring in another 1.5 to 2 million. Edit: nevermind, didn't click on the link.
  7. Since they're financing the game essentially through non-refundable preorders, rather than using their own money, wouldn't anything they make once the game is out be pure profit?
  8. Hehe, the first part sounds pretty familiar, haven't been talking to the Dusties have you? The Dustmen don't actually interact with the living that much. They're not that well integrated into the rest of society. And they certainly don't have a nation of their own where both the living and undead co-exist harmoniously. I would like to see a culture where necromancy and the undead play a big part in every facet of society from agriculture, to the economy, to industry, to politics, to philosophy, to religion, etc. Funny, I was working on a timeline on the althistory wikia site where Mexico had been taken over by benign necromancers who used zombies as a labour force. Most of the rest of the world saw it as an abomination and there were two crusades against mexico, but they were able to fight them off. The first necromancer Emperor became a Lich and still rules. Anyway, back on topic. With all the shows, movies, etc. I'd like to see them stay away from Vampires and Zombies, just overdone at this point. Maybe explore Ghouls and Ghasts, or even simple ghosts and spirits a bit more.
  9. Yeah, your role in the faction should be based on class rather than having factions based on class. For instance a criminal organization would have different missions for a thief than for a fighter.
  10. I'd like to see a good variety of factions. Some political that you can aid and influence but as a concept are too big to be joinable. Joinable factions would be things like thieves guilds, knightly orders, etc. Possibly tied to class, or your reputation with the political factions. These would be large and have more direct rewards for completing quests. Able to rise in the ranks, but I wouldn't allow the character to lead them. Then I'd like to see smaller factions. These could be village militias or small social clubs and such. These would be things that you could eventually lead, or get titles from, but are mostly roleplaying rewards rather than monetary and such. The smaller factions could also be used as building blocks for future games. Like perhaps you could start your own faction, that during PE is no more than a few members working out of a storefront or something, but when the sequel hits it has grown depending on what you did in the first game.

I'd like to know what kind of longevity people think a toolkit would add with needing to use their own 3d modelling program to build and texture new areas if they want to add new locations to the game. other games have had success with toolkitsbecaue of the ease of use in creating new content. this wouldn't be like neverwinter nights where you can just drag and drop props and terrain, it would most likely require simply adding quests and such to existing areas, similar to modding the IE games.
  12. Doesn't google have something like that? Wasteland 2 has one. People submit ideas and people can vote on whether its a good or bad idea.
  13. Well, simply based on that, any sort of "origin" type sequence could end with the PC travelling somewhere, and witnessing the event during the journey.
  14. Bring on a Renaissance setting. Gives me hope for that new world/colony building/exploration/diplomatic rpg I want so badly.
  15. I generally used the star formation because it was the most aesthetically pleasing. I found they didn't have much of an affect on combat.
  16. Well no multiplayer reduces the appeal of a modkit, and the pre-rendered backgrounds limits the usefulness of one. I don't see it happening.
  17. This is what I posted in a couple other threads: Customization = win. You don't need to do individual houses for each class, and it doesn't need to tie into the main story if they don't want it to.
  18. I would mostly like to choose background traits for my characters like say thay you had religious upbringing which would give bonuses to things that would make sense like lore or healing, or would unlock dialogue options or have npcs react differently and such.
  19. Looking forward to more forum participation too. Taking part in the discussions instead of just lurking would go a long way to easing peoples opinions of lack of communication.
  20. The most unsettling thing about Project Eternity is its created some sort of rift in spacetime that is making me agree with everything Volourn is saying. ITS MADDENING.
  21. The IE games did voice acting right. Enough to add drama and character without taking away from what was doable.
  22. Minscs line about not stowing thrones in grass houses wouldn't have been nearly as funny without a voice reference.
