What would make you pledge more?

Hell, if I had the money I'd be pledging 10k, even if I can't make use of half the rewards. -

Free shipping. I might be able to stretch my wallet for the $100 tier, and thats breaking the bank a bit, so the extra 20 bucks for shipping makes that a no go. I understand why, cross border shipping is a bitch, but it still sucks. -
In a fantasy world where a great deal of opponents are beasts in the wild, I would like to see heavily armored forearms and lower legs, which would be frequent targets of animals and such.

Not so much of late. The cinemas charge around £9 for a basic adult ticket nowadays. So about $15. Add ridiculously overcharged popcorn/drinks... Throw in a summer of really good weather, and most folks have been staying out rather then going in places like the cinema. Yeah its between 10-15 bucks here too. North American box office this weekend was considered terrible, and there was still pretty much a 3 way race for number one at about 13 million each, and the number one movie in the UK made about as much as the #10 movie in North America. Crazy. Shows the difference in cultures. NA obviously much more media driven.

I still like my idea of an inn. Start with a slummy inn or newly rebuilt burned out husk, and you need to do quests or just pay to get it up to snuff. Depending on the character you could rebuild it differently, but it would all essentially be reskinned versions of the same building. A mage could maybe turn it into a small college by recruiting teachers and such, or you could recruit cooks and bartenders and turn it into a functioning in. You could build trapdoors and make it a front for organized crime, etc. Each companion would get his own room customized to their individual character, etc. Would cut costs by essentially just re-dressing the same model for the customization options rather than having unique buildings for every class. Keeps the lower level/early adventure atmosphere of the game better than a giant castle or noble manorhouse would, and allows for a great variety of quests depending on the people you recruit for it. (Cooks/Bartenders/Musicians/Teachers/Criminals/Customers/etc.)

Christopher Lambert should voice a faction leader. You could probably get him for a box of oreos these days. -
Week last couple of weeks in the US Boxoffice + a deserved R rating was probably stacking the odds against the film a good bit. I'm not sure I buy the idea that the Stallone film from a 17 years back really had any effect which I've heard some people mention. I also gather from what I've read of US critics that they largely didn't get it. I don't see why they wouldn't get it, its not rocket science. I haven't even read the comics and I get it. Last I checked it had a 77% on rotten tomatoes, so largely favorable reviews. Still sad that a 3d re-release of a 10 year old movie gets more money than it though. Throw it in the pile of movies that deserved more money with Serenity. Really sad thing was it debuted in the UK at number one. Making 1 million pounds. Do Brits just not go to the movies?

watched Dredd on Saturday. Very much enjoyed it. Sadly my theatre didn't have any 2d screenings so I had to watch it in 3d. Too bad there won't be a sequel. Producers said 50 million domestic would get a sequel, it made 6 its opening weekend.

Norway appoints Muslim woman Minister of Culture

You have an odd definition of multiculturalism. That is not how it works at all in the diverse regions of the US. Honestly listening to some of you makes me feel like I live in a Utopian society or something. People in the Bay Area are immensely proud of being Americans AND proud of their diverse native cultures. I'm a 30-minute drive from any type of community I am looking for. If I want authentic Japanese, Indian, Persian, Russian, Vietnamese, Greek, or French food I can find it. I get to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and the 4th of July every year. I can go to a Buddhist temple, a mosque, or any Christian denominational church and feel welcome. This is why Canadians are starting to reject the "Mosaic" idea of multiculturalism rather than the "Melting Pot" that Americans have. America welcomes immigrants and embraces their differences (in theory) as long as they all become "American" in Canada its "come on in and do your thing" and what that has lead to, at least in BC, is all the immigrants gather and form their own cliques where they speak their own language and celebrate their old country. Its quite common to have people live here for up to 20 years without learning either of the official languages. The idea that Americans can embrace other cultures, but still have a common "American" culture is a very appealing one to a lot of us who see the "mosaic" idea as one of our own culture disappearing as the immigrant population grows and the natural born shrinks. Also, why is it that when western countries try to preserve their own culture thats ignorant, or intolerant, or racist, but when other countries do it its anti-imperialist? -

Age 30, fave RPGs, Fallout, BG series, PS:T, Witcher, Final Fantasy 6, and the Quest For Glory series. -
I say have the equipment make sense. I don't want to see Katanas in every shop because Katanas are popular with the gaming crowd. Foreign weapons and such you might see in some sort of curio shop or something, but its not like these foreign countries across the world are mass producing weapons for export.

Project: Eternity and Characterization

re: Influence meter, I don't mind having it, but don't show the player. This is something that should be a background mechanic. And as to player initiated vs companion initiated dialogue, these should not be exclusive. You should be able to initiate dialogue with your companions whenever you want, but your companions should be able to do the same. -
Its already settled that its isometric. Hence camera is already restricted, whether they use real-time rendered 3d backgrounds, or pre-rendered 2d backgrounds. This is only an issue playing it 10 years from now on holographic screens. Since it will be optimized for todays screen. Dynamic shadows and lighting would be easy enough using invisible meshes. They aren't rendered so they don't use up too many resources, but they cast shadows. Effects and such would also interact, so smoke and particles would bounce off them as well. If they can have 3d character models, they can have 3d props too. No matter how good 3d tech is, in a year something will blow it out of the water. The only way we can have backgrounds detailed and beautiful as the IWD and BG backgrounds to todays standards and have it run in real-time 3d, is to have a $1000 video card.

Story vs Choice

The way the Fallouts and Dragon Age: Origins handled the ending was good. Having one real endgame, but with blurbs afterwards that outlined how your choices affected people and places in the near future. -
I think you have to edit the first post.

I don't mind if they have cycles, so for instance a shopkeeper is in his shop during the day, then when his shop closes he goes to an inn to socialise, then goes home to sleep. Next day repeat. Adds a little realism without being a huge hindrance. Edit: Way to not read the first post and basically repeat it word for word. Anyway, yeah, cycles should be in.

Whatever people may think about the movies, I really liked the armor designs in the Narnia movies. Fancy enough to look like fantasy armor, but not so silly that it wasn't functional http://costumes.narn...group3hires.jpg http://images1.wikia...z-armor-art.jpg
