I think the story itself is fine. The only thing that is lacking is the main characters involvement. And I mean actual involvement. Hunting part of your soul is kind of out there and doesn't really do antyhing because the game doesn't focus on the lack of it either. Also the open world gives no incentive to continue the story. It's not as bad as Fallout 4's: "Where's my baby!!!!! Ooohhhh let's grow some crops.", but it is still bad. hey everyone get the munchie ! especially since the road is long and there is no taxi !

I read that (on the wiki) . Why did he interfer though ? the wiki doesn't say .. edit: oh and why after he got crushed by the moon , she sort of celebrated honoring him ? shouldn't she be pissed instead , he got in the way of her throw ?

Deadfire vs Tyranny
E.RedMark replied to rone's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
When the Scarlet Chorus takes a village, they do 'the culling'. Every able-bodied man, woman, and child is given a weapon and told to murder their family or be murdered by the Chorus. Those who survive, join the Chorus. The Chorus is known to loot, murder, and rape anybody they feel like during the conquering stage prior to the culling. Kyro's Peace doesn't cover people who aren't part of the Empire, so there are *no* rules limiting what they can do to the people their conquering--and you find out this is a thing that happens very early on, if you have the Scarlet Chorus take Lethians Crossing and you get the line "The Scarlet Chorus flooded Lethian's Crossing with overeager and undisciplined recruits. In the first few days of occupation, settlers suffered under rampant theft, murder, rape, and arson." I don't know how you could think the Scarlet Chorus are "fairly good guys". It's literally a horde of murderous, rapist thugs handed weapons and shoved at Kyros's enemies. and their leader..didn't he steal soul or something too ? And think the other 'blue' were bad as well...just don't recall what it was . Voices of Nerat did in fact steal "souls", or minds or personalities or however you think of it, through a long process of flaying people alive. He even did this to Graven Ashes *son* just prior to the events of the game. The other side, the Disfavored, are genocidal racists. They're both *really* ****ed up. One of the disturbingly well-done aspects of the game is how very easy it can be to identify with either one of these groups, and even come to like or admire them, even *knowing* how terribly, horribly evil they really are. I personally found Tyranny to be a very nuanced experience of trying to be a good person and making good choices in a world that is ran and administered entirely by bone-chilling evil; every decision you make ends up as some sort of moral compromise, and there's really no way to progress through the game with a "clean" moral slate. yeah I know.. Got to read some bickering about who was the best to side with hilarious reading! I usually go with the rebel and kill everyone else . The only one I had alot of hard time with (as making me doubt)...was..uh...Talon? that Judge guy ? But while they were screwed up evil...gotta say , they did paint them well though . I mean that Nerate was close to Sith Lord of twisted voices like creepy.... I kinda enjoy in a game seeing 'new' (Sort of , if you live under a rock like meh) sort of vilain and those 2 were new to me . Not something like something else from some other game or book , y'know . -
not at all . But the way you wrote it..it really make you wonder 'why is he apologizing so much ? is he...Oh noe..........bad mod request!!!!! ' Considering the naked Orlan debacle, and the bathhouse, I wonder what you thought he was asking for that was bad enough to ban over to put flashy neon colored wigs to put on godlike npc ? so none see their uglyness ? I love godlike..so yeah that would set me on fire wait..what about oraln? oh noe! don't tell me someone requested to shave them! that's Horrible....all that sexy hair... yeah..totally slow day here...

Reminds me of the only ME3 ending that even distantly resembled something coherent. Is that the ending where a colorful beam shoots into space? no.. you get 3 colorful button..labeled : strawberry , blue berry and avocado and it's NOT Ice cream you gonna get!

nah.. even in old BG2..I never choose to become a God . (good or evil)..I have no interest in that kind of stuff . I mean unless you play as one say like in Black&White..sure , that's fun . But usually in games like this..it's just 'So you ascended at last , and from up there peoples worship you..and you are bored to tears ! THE END'' .

Deadfire vs Tyranny
E.RedMark replied to rone's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Tyranny had some unique things , which I did enjoy (even if I screwed the 1st time) .Like the companions system...like make them fear you or loyal would unlock x ability . Also...while I like the companions of deadfire.... I like seriouse companions . And seriouse isn't whiny !!! they are 2 differents thing ! And the story was good . Sorry , but as far as I can tell : open world (do whatever) usually hurt the story . Haven't seen a game that could balance the 2 without one or the other taking a hit . -
Deadfire vs Tyranny
E.RedMark replied to rone's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
yeah , all the factions have that whole 'I like this about them..but on the other hand they do this real evil thing' . Then you go to the next faction and it's pretty much the same . Kinda feel like the witcher 3 on that front . Where in the end , it isn't about choosing the good or bad faction or guy , but the one that has the less bad things going for them . Also..Tyranny had that whole lie and make blue hate red and laugh you ass off as they go at it , which I just Loveeeeeeed so much . Wish we could do the same here -
I have to disagree completely with this. You SHOULD have to go back to your ship to manage your party. Heck, I don't even think you should be able to do it at an inn. You SHOULD have to go back to where your entire party and its reserves are. (Oh, I suppose one can make an argument that if you're in port, your reserves would be at the nearby inn on shore leave, and thus accessible.) I'm honestly quite tired of reading all these arguments in favor of laziness. Boo-frickin'-hoo. You have to travel back to your ship (or inn) to get to where your party's reserves are hanging out. Too frickin' bad! This is a role playing game. And part of the role playing is doing some of the grunt work, like going back to where your reserves are hanging out to change the party's lineup!!! I don't see this as a problem at all. If there is a problem, it's that the devs aren't telling the players to stop being lazy and deal with the role playing aspect of having reserves!!! You're lucky that when you remove someone from a roster that they don't just head back to their personal home base, like say, Pallegina heading back to the VTC HQ, or possibly having all removed party members just hanging out at the Wild Mare, either way forcing you to head back to Nekataka to find them. No reason to be a jerk about it, man. This is a game, people want games to be fun. That's what games are here for. With the smaller party size, I find myself swapping out TONS because there are four faction-specific party members. It would be nice if it was easier, so I didn't have to go "crap, the Vailians are involved here, I probably want Pallegina along" and then run across the world to pick her up. I'm not being a jerk. I find the people defending laziness to be the jerks with the offensive, me me me, self-entitled attitudes. it's not laziness . You want to walk all the way to the port everytime , cose it's role play ? then do so . But if someone want to click a button and switch companions , they should have that option .

AFAIK she's from the Vailian Republics and in 1 she questions the motives of her superiors if she thinks their decisions will be bad in the long run. In Deadfire all she seems to care about is bitching about godlikes/gods and has lost all ability to question the Republics. Maybe this is supposed to reflect her becoming embittered or maybe it's just because she could have different endings in 1 and it was too complicated to create one character with different personalities depending upon the POE ending. Aloth also seems to be designed to fit one POE outcome. Her dispositions of anti pro godlike and anti racist also seems a tad conflicting to me. she is the weirdest Paladin I ever met . It's like being a paladin doesn't even matter , she is a soldier above everything else . And the way they treat her..like a Pawn... *Shake head*....her loyalty...piss me off to be honest .

we meet her outside of her land . Maybe that's the difference . The deadfire are her lands after all . And I guess..how you solve her quest may also be a factor... But if she wasn't like this before...(don't recall her being soo...bitchy to be honest)...then yeah , make you wonder . -- Personally , I think often the tone of a game set the Mood . Like for exemple : Koto 1 and Kotor 2 . Kotor 1 was more light where Kotor 2 was very dark and that set the companions being more....angtsy . They won't crack jokes as often and such . Oh? I thought she was from Vailia? Also idk about her quest. I solved it as she wanted although my own character was godlike and I did not agree lol. Didn't even get any approval from her xD I don't know where she is from But the Val are in deadfire no ? So.. Honestly , don't know . the real question is : Is she patriotic toward her country or 'patriote' toward the Val ?
