  1. Per+7 Mig+5 Int+5 Dex+4 Res-2 Con-2 Accept race/origin for flavour. If CC only drop Mig for more Int If Melee wizard, even dex/res/con. Swap Int/Per
  2. If you want summoner class: Best deal is Chanter Beckoner. Could be pure bread. Could be slashed: With Animalistic Druid, for Blight and some buffs or heals. With Priest of Wael, for extra tankiness and party utility With Wizard Generalist, but mostly using conuration spells. Use your summons to position enemies and drop chill fog, or other duration aoe spells on them. With Paladin, for more tankiness, and some auras for everyone. Or Beckoner+Wizard, but focus on necromancy spells. Not really powerfull, but flavourish.
  3. hum but I don't like chanter...or cipher.... That's why I went for druid (cose no alignement restriction woot!) and ranger (cose heart something sub class sounded like a cipher thing without being one ) . well in combat , I get a ghost animal that I can unleash and the druid give me the transformation for one + spell . Not a tank for sure..but enough to hold my own and keep some busy . Edit: oh forgot to ask..but if you take druid + fighter or ranger + paladin..would that make you Tankish ? If took Ranger Ghost Heart that is not good for Druid/Priest since you could heal your companion even more with this classes. Thing to try: Stalker/Shifter. On Ranger ignore shoting, focus on pet and active attack abilities. On Druid focus on summons, buffs, and close abilities. Also Wildstrike. In combat summon, buff, and charge to gether with your pet. If you need cast abandon wildform do casting and turn beast again. Flavour should be right, power moderate, since you cant buff pet as much as character, and you are spreading think on buffs, pet and dps. Fighter/Paladin both could be tanky. Ranger and any of two could indeed go Ghost Heart and mostly ignore pet, but focus on shoting. Bleak Waker Paladin has higher dps. Fighter could be plain, devoted (favorite gun) or black jacket if you dont mind firearms jugle. You could always go pure Druid and just use summons as your pet. You could take stag or bear or boar form for extra tankiness. Even have weapon/shield as one weapon set. If you are beggining then pure Druid could be safe bet.
  4. Not very synergetic. You could use Stalker, and pikes/staffs and use pet as tank throwing spells from second line. The problem is that you can do the same with Beckoner and Priest/Druid. And just summon bunch of summons when throwing buffs/heals for everyone. There is this thing that some combos are just outclassed by something else. Ranger/Chanter could be good, chanter auras have larger aoe than priest spells, so you woudl reach pet, and you still can shot, there is Ilya and Flame weapons chant. Which could buff your shoting.
  5. One thing OE could do is to allow retraining companions to the level of picking class combo. At least once i picked one MC but it havent worked out so well. Happens. (Xoti PriestMonk, Maia RangerWizard, maybe they are good just havent worked for me). As building character, you need to decide what you plan, and look for synergies, or accept that synergy is weaker. For starter avoid very unsynergetic builds like Cipher/Priest. If you want dps rogue you look for classes which open sneak attacks or give good passives for dps. SO Fighter or Cipher are first calls. If you martial dps then look for classes with good passives and actives for dps. Tanks are nice, since you can pick class for tanking, and class for buffing/healing. Paladin/FIghter with Chanter/Priest/Druid Nuke wizards are generally better single class. Cipher wants MC with good weapon dmg so barbarian, fighter, rogue, bleakwaker, monk. Try not to mix roles, at least keep the same stats. DPS is Per Mig Dex. But buffing is Int.. You could selfbuff, but at this time you could swing a sword, when buffbot will do the job. Overall i like the system. Gives more freedom than poe1 and opens this whole discussion "which MC is worth it". What i regret is that some classes have like 3 abilities at lv 1 (and you pick 2) and neutral abilities are high up. More neutral abilities could be level 1 or 2.
  6. You can run Druid:Wizard. You could even run: Evoker+Lifegiver+Stag. If you want to watch world burn, wizard solo is better, you dont need 28 spells when after 18 everything is dead. But you may want some healing. You could use Nature Godlike with FleetFeet, Infuse with Vital Essence and Nature Vigor. to offset MC. Sorcerers blooms after level 7, when you start having too many spells.
  7. Soulblade/Stalker... this is not perfect. Since cipher wants alot of dps on own weapon, but ranger splots power on pet. If you want melee cipher Soulblade is good call. It is beneficial if you slash it with something with boost to attack power, like: Barbarian, Rogue, Assasin (since melee), Fighter, BleakWaker, You could pick any and it will be good. Black Jacket is not that great on melee, you could get extra weapon slot anyway, and constant recovery is helpfull. For races: Death or MoonMoon godlikes should be ok.
  8. This could be very micro intensive in rather repeating way. And point of range is that you could dont need stealth. With Assasin you could hit harder with melee weapon and faster. If you want guy with gun: Ranger+Rogue is decent, since Ranger has abilities which trigger sneak attacks. Also ranger pet could deal more dmg with sneak attacks. Ranger + Bleak Waker is another aproach. You are more supportive for team. Ranger+Chanter does same but with more support to party. You could also get rid of ranger part and go with Chanter Bleak Waker, if pet is not for you. Other aproach is Cipher Beguiler+Rogue. Both cipher and rogue have some skills to open sneak attacks. Stats: Perception, MIght, Dexterity are best, but you cant dump Int if you want abilities for sneak attacks or support auras. Resolve and Con could be at 8. Races: Death Godlike, WildOrlan (resolve buff) or Pale Elf.
  9. BoB are great idea, especially starting money and level up, could make rerolling more fun. More stats could be good for experiencing all dialogue options. You are not forced to pick any BoB. There could be Skaen Curses which will make game harder.
  10. They could make sidekicks regular taskgivers. We need some minor tasts anyway, so if you could recruit him to party after done, or to help, that would make sense.
  11. Going below con 8 would require meta knowledge or very carefull play. I wouldnt recommend that. Cipher needs some might, generally a bit more of it, since you load your focus with basic attacks. If you want ascendant slash something like rogue, fighter, paladin, for ranged or barbarian, monk for melee. You just build focus faster and that is cool. If you want troubadour you could go with wizard transmutter/ilusionist. That way could dump mig. But low mig also means no heals from you, which is very limitting character. If you want support character you can recruit Tekehu Chanter Druid. DPS companions: Eder Swashbucker, pallegina Templar, Maia Scout, Serafen Barbarian/witch.
  12. From playing /wizard and /chanter (but not together) Chanter works well with most of things, unless you really need weapon dmg. (for that there are better slashes) The power of build is that you could take most of spells from grimoires. And just cherry pick your favorites from both sides. Generally wizards are suprsingly good slashes (grimoires) if you are ok with some casting. You could go tanky route with illusion or enchanting. CC, debuff route is easier. (could focus on Int and Per) It is not power build. But fun enought. Flavour: Chanter Beckoner, and wizard conurer, enchanter or transmuter. for sudo animancer. You can go Nature Godlike and use infuse vital energy on self for some power level. You can tell what you desire, like nukes, cc, buffs, heals, summons.
  13. I think OE need to make heavier research what is minimum for players and sidekick, for me it is something like: 10 min of text (like BG2) some backstory some barters with Companions but not other sidekicks some opinion about our big buddy personal quests would be an asset but if no idea it is also fine no relations. This could be an advantage, since i have enought judgy fellows already. Other aproach: Create hires background templates with tags like class or race, and when you roll a hire just attach backstory. More aproaches: make more portraits, add some barters to voice templates, since this is as much personality as sidekicks go.
  14. One way to indirect buff wizards: Give them (and all classes) Deep Pockets passive as option at level 1. It will help wizards greatly since you can always store more grimoirs to jugle or some scrolls. It will be overall beneficial, since players like options, and are immune to argument Rolling Barb/Monk drug user is not how you are supposed to play, peasant! Generally it will be nice if more neutral passives was front loaded. (level 1-3) Other than that casters are ok in general. The fact that you can give your caster dual pistol/scepter helps. Or pike/staff.
  15. Ascendant if you want more dps. Beguiler if you want more CC. MC: BleakWaker for Ascendant Rogue for Beguiler. But pure cipher is also good. You want big guns, so Barbarian, Monk are more melee oriented. Chanter is nice, but it could be other companion,
  16. I like Pallegina (and Sagani) Dont like Durance (no love for fanatics). Some people dislike Eder as "clown companion, garrus wannabe" Dont mind a bit cliche. Worst case, will pick someone else. Any idea, event the best, orignal and everything... someone will write "Worst character EVER! I hope writter will die in pain".
  17. What was the issue with her design? There are none. But some players spotted she wears glasses and has white hair so must be smartdonkey tsundere goth waifu bait. Which is a bit racist against pale elves and unfair towards shortsighted folks. But here we are.
  18. Creating full companion (with relation interaction) is kinda hard. Creating sidekick OE still need to find golden balance (put 10min text and maybe some personal quest) . Creating extra box in pick class combo for companion menu is moderate easy. Reusing assets is essencial skill. Eder could materialize as Rogue, FIghter, Kind Wayferer, Priest of Eothas in doubt... or any combinations of these. And it will make sense. And if for you does not, then... just pick combination which feels right for you.
  19. Was thinking about sorcerer. Primary DPS/Healer (both use might). Lifegiver Druid for heals. Generalist Druid for best use of others grimoirs. Stag form when run out of spells Normally Scepters/Pistols for range support. Nature Godlike for extra Power Level. Using Infuse Vital Essence for selfbuff. (Godlike trigger) Party: Eder Fighter/Rogue DPS, Xoti Priest/Monk dps/buffs. ( i like these two) Rest i am open to suggestions. Could Always go Sefarian CIpher/Barbarian and Pallegina/Chanter. Are there some good con/dex/might buffs i should pick up? Which DPS spells on Druid/Wizz are too good to miss? PS Rolled Sorcered Nature Godlike Generalist Animalist (had Xoti in party). The results are... good. So many spells. Dual wield Pistols/Scepters. When in trouble go beastmode. Fun.
  20. Beguiler Cipher/Assasin Rogue MoonMoon Godlike. I like the fact thet cipher could just keep going no matter how long battle last. Not horrible build is also important, but not critical. I roleplay as trickster artisian. Such aproach results in most funny dialogues. Discovering the gameworld could be factor, ciphers have some unique interactions. I tend to pick jedi class. Which could be habit from old kotors, or it is just great mix of ease to play, and versalite gameplay. Planning Sorcerer. And BleakSoulBlade.
  21. I doubt it. It could be more complex to change old, than create a new. There is a problem in community with aproach "I dont like the Thing, and if somebody likes the Thing, i want them to suffer." which is not very constructive. If i dont like companion, i dont pick him/her into party and just move on. If DLC have new characters that could be interesting. But better 1 good, than 5 hires with portraits. With Sidekick there need to be found the golden spot with not so much work for devs, but enought text for players to feel "yes that is definetly a character and i like/hate it". BG2 characters had like 10 min of text. Personal Quest or relations net could be reserved only for some. Althought personal quest is probably easier than relations network. There is an idea of giving companions more options for class combos. So OE could make 1 companion and players will have freedom what class he will be (at least more freedom). Other aproach is to create background template for hires. You make custom hire, and then add backgroudn and companion premade. But this is too crazy idea, not enought people will have fun of it.
  22. Suggestion: Give Companions and Sidekick more class option, and class combinations. More than 3. Reason: It is more fun to party with companions with personality and something to say. It increases replaybility if you could alter companions a bit more. Explanation: Some companions need to have 1 class always, since it is part of who they are. Like Aloth always wizard, and Maia always ranger. But they could multiclass more freely without breaking the immersion. Examples: Maia: Ranger (always). Rogue. Wizzard, Fighter BleakWalker, Chanter. Eder Any: Fighter, Rogue, Kind Wayferer, Eoathas Priest in doubt, Aloth Wizard (always) Fighter Rogue Soulblade Barbarian (isemyr) Pallagina Paladin (always) FIghter, Chanter, Rogue, Monk Serafen: Any Barbarian, Rogue, Cipher, Ilussionist, Fighter, Skald Xoit ANy: Priest, Monk, Chanter, Rogue, Fighter Tekehu: any: Druid, Chanter, priest, Transmutter, Monk, Barbarian Ydwin any: Rogue Cipher Fighter Enchantress Beckoner There need to be some fancy pick window either as drop list or pick 2 list, but it is possible. Some companions could sport specialization for lore factor, like Ydwin Enchantress or Xoti Beckoner. With pick 2 list aproach there could be even option to choose subclass or not. (one class appears twice as pure or specialized) Some combos make more sense, other a bit less, the good part is that nobody is forced to pick "bad" combo. Could be meshed with POE1 endings, like Eder could keep the faith and have Priest of Eothas avaiable. Or Pallegina could abandon duty. Other idea: Each companions has 2 favorite classes, but could MC more freely. So Xoti is generally Priest or Monk, but could mc with paladins, chanter, fighters, rogues if players want to. It is not a priority, but someday could happen. Sideidea: when retraining companion move them all the way to picking class. Since making "mistake" is very easy, and otherwise is hard to fix.
  23. Are casters frustrating to play in Deadfire? Not really, fact that you dont need to rest untill you are heavy injured or run out of Empowerment makes game more smooth. Are casters weak? Dosnt look so far, ability to unload everything you have at the start of encounter and then switch to weapon to mop leftovers is quite good. All without regrets that you will need that spells later on. Are casters fun? Fun is in the eye of beholder. There is a need fore some extra planning picking spells, like CC on different defensive, or nukes on different dmg types. But for others it is fun. It could be fun to use all your arsenal, not saving best spells for boss fights. It could be fun to MC with wizzard, and just get good grimoir, not powerful, but not so common archetype in crpg.\ Sorcerers could be super fun.
  24. It would be nice to have new companion in 3 dlcs. It would also be nice to sidekicks in dlcs, as long as they have some personalities and some lines of text. It would be great if companions and sidekicks could have more than 3 class options. Like could Ydwin be wizzard/cipher with Enchantress specialization? That would fit i suppose. As long as this extra classes would somehow make sense. Or Maia Ranger/Fighter. Xoti Monk/Priest/Chanter. (she is good with dead souls). I doubt in upgrade of sidekicks to companions, that could be more work than imagine.
  25. No problem with any accents. If some characters could make a specific accent and it makes sense. Like aussie mate, texan farmer, or bbc brittish for some high class smartdonkey... that is even better. But could live without such devotion.
