  1. I like the idea of handcrafting grimoires. There could be a special vendor. Which allows to buy empty books. And write spells 1by1. But not delate. You need to buy new empty grimoire, that is what we call business model. And you can name your tome of course. the cost is like 100*PL per spell. If you take wizard + druid/priest you could have a lot of spells if that is a priority. No complain for overall caster system.
  2. Combination of Fighter/Rogue/Cipher is good start. Paladin Walkers or Goldpack could also work.
  3. There are abillities which appear in more than one class, like Beer Fortitude, Toughness, One Handed Style. And they are avaiable with power level. But there is a problem with multiclassing, since you cant take a individual twice from different class. Also you probably not interested in taking both One Hand and Two Hand styles. With some multiclass combos (lets say Rogue/Fighter) it looks like you have many abillities to choose at low levels. But in fact you are limitted. Morover: Swift movment, and Monastic training are very niche passives. This is not equal for all classes. CIpher or Chanter have a few low level abillities, so there is a chance at least 1 will fit you. Rogue/Fighter have very few class specific.Ranger is another example of class with wide selection of abilities to choose from level 1. Solution: Rearange neutral class abillties to generally lower their level, maybe even keep them all at max 7. Also give 9 neutral abilitties at level 0/1: 4x defensive 4x weapon spec. Toughness. Especially Toughness is something you would really want level 1 (litterally scales with level). Bonus to elemental damage also could be leve 1. Generally all neutral passives could be just -2 power levels, and sometimes even more. "In other crpgs" it is common that at level 1 you get bunch of neutral abillities as an option, and you can pick them up whenever you want. Limiting most of neutral feats to medium/high level is hipster design. I do not think they are that powerful, to limit their avaiability so hard (at least most of them), but maybe im wrong. Solution 2: Man up, there is a balance reason it is that way. There is a case that Great Soul and Prestige could be really strong on MC, but you will sacrifize level 7 class abilities for it. Also for single class having them 4 levels earlier is nice bonus to. What you think?
  4. You may take one of your higher level saves, and roll 4 hires. And try different approaches. That way you will have more insight from single run how each class works. I rerolled once. But then stick to it. At least for one run i will just push forward. The temptencion to try all the options is high.
  5. There is a thing, that some classes could use some extra level 1 passive/active. Like FIghter or Rogue. You have some choice but not much. Monastic Order is niche, Speed is questionable. Arms bearer is ok, but sometimes you dont really need it. Could be something generic like 4 defenses. Or +2 health per level. Even 4 weapon styles. It is easy to find some good powers on Cipher (many options) but harder on rogue.
  6. I suppose that Wizzard + Priest/Druid MC should provide alot of spells. Since you can jugle grimuars. And get 1 free from deity/tradition. And still pick some more. Too many spells and some will be clearly inferior, so just will take place. The current system is easy to get used to. All classes get very similar amount of perks per level. So it feels balanced.
  7. So far i prefer current system. In case of casters it could be better to go single class, for more power level, and higher level spells. Martial classes are more tempting, since single may offer not enought cool abilities. There are some combinations of subclasses which are really good, but it is also a joy to discover them. As long as there is over the top difference of ease of playing vs enemies let it be. The prospect that there is 55 combination * all specializations is great. Really encourages to just roll 5 mercenaries with player builds.
  8. Anything you like. Companions you get very fast: Eder (rogue/fighter) Xoti(Priest/Monk) Aloth (Wizzard/Fighter) The rest you will get under 5 hours (depending on sidequesting). Companions could be single class or multiclass. See wiki for all combinations. You can make eder multiclass rogue/fighter with weapon and shield. Rogue is not essencial, any class can just specialize in mechanic/stealth/pickpocketing. Single class is ok. Ciphers are fun. Wizzards are also ok (you will get Aloth early but could have own). Cipher/Wizzard MC does not look good, but maybe there is hiden synergy. No focus from wizz spells.
  9. There is always a problem of balancing staffs and sticks. Hitting one enemy really hard is cool, but hitting everyone in the room with falling sky is a bit better. One solution to that is to make spells look cool, but in terms of power keep them mediokey.
  10. @playersexualcompanions On the other side i could imagine horror game, where in prologue player is asked about fears, and then game change itself to be more scarry for that player. So we dont discover already defined game world but we focus on experiencing the story. Other example is that in prologue we are asked about friend from the pass, and can decide some details about him. Changing him (or her). We can change perspective that we it is not about world, but player story.
  11. It would be nice to have option to play slenderman. But it is very far reaching pc customization. Also isometric view is moderate at showing character details. Im fine if there is no such feature.
  12. Philippa is also a bi-sexual character(or lesbian?), in Witcher 3 they don't really show that but Dijkstra mentioned it in his dialogue. Philippa is more bisexual (also power-sexual). She prefer girls and lesbomancy, but was flirting with Dijkstra in some dialogue. Unfortunetly the fat spy was more interested in plotting than hooting around.
  13. It is not the romance we wanted but the one we deserved. As for Bioware and "every ship is already in" is part of the brand, and it is somehow funny in own way. So sad Bioware soul was corrupted by EA masters.
  14. Are DOS2 and POE2 really competting? With cars you generally need 1 car, extra cars generate costs like inssurence or parking spot. Extra single player game have some opportunity costs, but no subscribcion fee. Unlike online games in SP you dont care about online playerbase. Single Player games could be more like Tirramisu icecream. If you bought one, there is a chance you will buy more in future. It could be interesting in perspective of the future of SP games in general. You risk less with SP games.
  15. Less is more. But in terms of sidekick the expectacions are low, and easy to cover. If sidekick would have 10min of barter that would feel like alot, when in comparison to whole game it is nothing. It is similar to history of items. You can just write lorem ipsum and give that sweet, sweet stats. But some people care about epic story of our boomstick.
  16. POE rippoff. To some degree we want more POE ripoff. The more crpg is there, the more of them will be good at some point.
  17. It may be the lost opportunity. In case of Durance i remember some barter from Temple and Salty Pole tavern. So that is several lines, and already gives a feeling of definetly unique character.
  18. Other point of view: All what matters what is "the value" of base game. And how much "value" each expansion brings As long as they are above "what is in other games" or some other abstract measure, it could be that way. OE is probably aware that chopping away story critical part to DLC would create bad PR. On positive side, this time the release shedule is tighter, so sooner you can play absolute complete deadfire.
  19. I prefer skimpy barbarians with high intimidation. Not really playing much games with skimpy gals option, it sounds as more MMO style. More often go with look of evil witch or full boobplate. Gothic could happen. More often picking one with best stats. Other look: impressive headfur, since in isometeric mode irokez or cable-dreds (golden or violet) is only way to stand out. Other than that, sometimes playing girl for (seducing Eder) extra content. It is interesting how many games offer simply outfit. It happens in MMO. And sometimes it is part of artstyle (Vampire Bloodlines). Not sure how if you can perv in mainstrean games.
  20. Thanks for recommendation, these are some great games. I have played all 3 of recent Shadowrun games, they are good. Especially Dragonfall, can really find Story and Glory in it. Vampire Bloodlines is one of my favorite games, great combination of rpg, action, stealth. It is sad that we dont have more horror, vampire games. Teen suckers was a popular throphe some time ago. Havent tried Arcanum, it seems to before the point when enought graphic is enought, but may be worth a shot. And there modern Deus Ex, i never asked for this but it is something else than another fantasy. I like Grand Strategy games (Galactic Civilization, Cities Skylines and such) this games are good example that you can have no story, but the history writes itself. Need to give a shot to stellaris at some point.
  21. Good story or The Experience. It is another medium, no CGI will cover bad story. The experience is when there is no predefined story but it is made up from components in game. Skyrim did it to some degre. The Moments. The small part which are very well planned and are somehow epic, or shattering. Some small bitter sweet substory, or the great revelation. Or just moments of feels. In the end with remember sum of Moments. Branching paths. Preffer games when problem could be solved in my way, by force, smooth talk, thievery, unspeakable rituals. "Clever" solutions, if i there is situation specific, logic solution, which player can discover. Like using environment against enemies, or preparation. Gameplay over simulation. Prefer if fun parts are numerous, and boring parts sparse. Being forced to enjoy travel gets boring after some time. Unless travel is somehow fun, but even then it gets tedious after several repeticion. Companions. They often offer own story withing story with personality and interaction. And they stick with us, so there is a reason to read their backstory. It could be connected wih cute waifess. ;-) Things i like, but are not necessery: Action rpg, acting under time pressure gives extra thrill. Consistent audio video. Especially if soundtrack is so good it could be listen alone. Graphic for me reached the point when it is no obstacle, so just avoiding glichess or goofy animations and it wil be fine. Copypaste design or empty levels could be a disadvantage. It is more about versality of graphic not precision. Different setting, there is not so many crpg, and the big one are more on high fantasy side. There is not even good Space Opera crpg out there. Some horror, vampires, Warhammer 40k would be a novelty.
