It was weird that nobody did crpg with pathfinder, even if dnd was moderate succesful. Even Vampire Masquarade and Shadowrun had some success (as crpg from pnp rpg). Other universe is Warhammer 40k, which deserves proper crpg. Current situation is heresy.

Warframe, Path of Exile. This are f2p, but if you want something fun for a while, should be enought. Dead Space on Origin also free for a moment.

There is a Humble Bundle with "classic returns" including Shadowrun Retuns & Dragonfall DC, the last one is very good. There is also Tides of Numerea which is a bit Torment to play. Other fun games is Wasteland 2, Xenonauts which are quite good in niche. And some more.

The King of Fighters as giveaway on GOG. Looks really retro, but maybe for some. Also Chinese NY sale,

Cities Skylines, is a city builder similar to old Sim City. Pleanty of choices, but plot is rather predictable. No romance option, and all babymaking is happening off screen. It is safe to say that it is one of best citybuilders on market (not that there is much of competicion).

There is total war 2 game, which at least uses mediterenian map. Or Europa Universalis series XIV century. There is probably civ 6 community map with real earth, however i am not sure if the locations are more or less right.

Wargame: Red Dragon - tactical (and a bit strategical) RTS with late 80 weapons around Korea. Quite cool game, since it feels real with all different weapon types. Can embrace inner psycho when sending infantry to napalm aoe. On the worse side game is a bit hard, and have front step of learning how good each weapon type is. Bloodlines is good, with unofficial patch even better. Unique mix off crpg, action, stealth. Also setting is original. Fantasy crpg are also cool but sometimes you want something different.

This is kind of problem that I want to pick one of the serries (lets say Civilization) but which one, the first one, which defined genre, the other one which popularized it, or the last which is still rising in power.

Yes, and we are proud of it! As for DAO: epic story, cool companions, origin gimmick, spell interaction, nice character graphic for a time. At time it was good.

That is a lot of Bioware (and Gaben), it is tragic story of good devs slowly devaured by corporate vampire. Classic. On the bright side CDPR, Larian and Obsidian fill the niche. Nature is amazing.

Life is Strange is a niche game, big deal is that it is different from standard gaming. It is adventure genre in times when such games are very rare. It also offers different challenges and cotex than standard game. Not an another zombie open world game. And it fells better when played once all episodes out.

Some classic games get on the list, Starcraft, HoM&M 3, NWN, Bioshock, HalfLIfe 2 That is really something to be anticipated.

Somehow forgot to add Dragonfall on my list. The struggle is real. It is a choice a game which is genre defining or just one which i have a lot of fun with. Maybe next time will fix that.

Dragonfall DC was best. Great mix of epicness, tempo and mood. Also Glory is bea. On side note they have interesting developing sheme with pumping new game in 2Y cycle. Which is cool, since it is enought to polish, but short enought to not get hungry. Who needs MTX when you have full games.

Keep up good work. There could be some off list summarise of "most meritorious series" to somehow tie up all Fallouts. There is challenge in measurment of games from 20 years ago, they ware great at time, and are influencial for sure. But i havent played them recently, and not going to, so it doesnt even matter.

NieR Automata. 2017 was a decent year, with a sour drop from some big companies like EA. However EA is horrible at least since 2012, so at least you should not be suprised by now. Also Destiny 2 was a poor mans full price Warframe, but againt big companies doing mediocrate games is normal. List of Awesome: Switch, Zelda Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Horizon Zero Dawn, NieR Automata, NioH NioH Nioh, Torment, Persona 5, Prey, Divinity Orignal Sin 2, Elex, even Assasin Origins, Wolfenstein New Colosus, Player Unknown battleground, + more, even more hip games. (hellblade and such) Not a bad year.

Weird move, popularity of Switch and mobile games should show that there is market for portable gaming, as long as control is right.

Actually TotalBiscuit (and steam) make a better yearly awards with totally made up categories like "one which step out of early access" or "game much better than it could" or "AAA title which doesnt make gaming worse". That are a real heroes.
