Chanters are awesome summoners and have max deflection. Give them W&S style, high Int, Per and Res and they are quite a front line tank. Even without Dragons Slahed they can dump Ogres and Drakes into combat, explode corpses, stun, buff, heal. Pretty much they do everything but top tier weapon damage. But you can even build them to be a two hand sword monsters if you want as they already have the deflection covered. Just add healing resources like Shod boots, Vet's Recovery , etc... I like them better than Pallies (...sorry Torm51

But this kind of power does not come without Chanter stacks, right? I don't want to use more than 1 of each class (2 at most, but if then with different builds), so I don't know how strong Chanters are individually. Can they, say, replace a DPS Fighter or a tank Fighter? Oh, so that is not an end-game dragon? I cannot believe people solo this game when I am struggling so badly on normal. I really must be doing something wrong. Do you enchant everything and continue to upgrade those enchants - and do you abuse consumables? Any early game, newb advice would be appreciated. I believe the path to success is learning what defenses your enemy has and learning what attack types they use. Then you juggle equipment/spell selections accordingly. For example the Shadows in the Eothan Temple in Gilded Vale. Casting Bulwark versus the Elements makes your Wizard much sturdier versus their attacks and able to engage in Melee so he can then cast Fan of Flames to easily destroy them. Read the Beastiary, it helps. I've heard that; but that kind of "gaming" is way too much micro-management for me unfortunately. Besides, will you have enough crafting material to enchant that many weapons and armor? Yes, you get that many materials. Only the endgame weapons get limited chanting materials.

No dice. The Saber/Sabres in Eternity have grips that are going to make sure you are using them one handed. Also Obsidian should just stick to their guns, if you want to use a sword two handed get a great sword or an estoc. Concerning grips in PoE.... it is only a picture of a weapon that shows you the grip. Easily fixed with a new pic. I am fan 'historical sense' in the games I like to play. Two hand sabres doesn't fit the bill for me. But single or dual handed Katana or Scimitar like weapons would be an excellent addition as would bastard sword types.

Which imo a game doesn't need to be. It just needs to be consistent. Those that want to do the math should be able to reverse engineer the formula with a little trial and error.I disagree. It shouldn't take a degree in engineering to calculate my DPS, which it does in PoE (see MaxQuest's thread.) That said, Josh did say Deadfire would be more transparent with how these things work, and DPS should be easier to calculate. In a general sense I would think that those who actually care about the math behind the scenes can actually do the math. I realize there are some who want to know but struggle with determining the math on their own. But I think they would be a small minority.

Yes, I know. This thoughts are only my first idea which way I want to play a Character in PoE and how much I can adapt my play style as I have descriped with my Dragon Age Origins experiences. ^^Maybe, I could play a Dukemon styled HC. I still have no idea what I can create exactly in PoE. Not yet.^^ When I am already at asking, what you can do in PoE. Is Gamepad gameplay available on the PC version or will it be added into the PC version after PS4 release? That pick looks like a modernized Kane from The Shining Force. I got a lot of mileage out of that game... good times.

I was using a Dwarven DW Hammer Rogue with high Stealth. He was excellent. Don't overlook weapons with better Interrupt values. When dropping a BS on a spell caster the longer interrupt period is pretty sweet and usually spells doom for said spell caster. Though I was switching to 2-handers for the Dragon fights/Higher DR foes.

But he summons otherworldly beings, which would be summons, not necessarily minions. And since he is a WM add on for higher level characters I don't see an issue with his encounter. But I will concede that he is purely a challenge encounter for experienced players. But since we already had other Dragons in game that fit a better in game role for the story line I don't see a issue with that personally.
