  1. You know it! Rogue has high starting ACC, your build has very high Per for more ACC and if you flank attack as the 2nd wave you don't need talents like Reckless Assualt in the early game. It's easy to look at ability/talent descriptions in PoE and think 'Wow! That's awesome!' But then feel very disappointed when you constantly go down for the count. You will get hit in the early game if your a Rogue so give yourself some staying power.
  2. Also note that if you pick abilities/talents that lessen your deflection like Reckless Assualt in the early levels then you are making yourself even more of an easy target. Pick Savage Attack or Weapon Focus first. Or anything else that doesn't reduce your melee survivability.
  3. Make him the second wave. Engage with others first while you strike from a distance with an Arquebuses/Arbalest. Then flank. Fights will end quickly on Easy. Continue this theory even after you get Tallgrass.
  4. It is quite easy to out level the game. Just clear the first act and Raedrics, then tackle the paths. By the time you emerge from the paths the rest of the game is a breeze except for the Cancelhaunts a few select encounters in the WM/WM2. Or go back the opposite route and just level up like crazy in act II. Either way it is EASY lo iut level the game. The addition of WM/WM2 makes it even easier to do so. I hope PoE2 corrects this. BG2 was the same.
  5. you have obviously never played with a wizard, priest or a storms druid then Yep.... you got me pegged...
  6. I find Ciphers to be no fun as I think they rule the day. They make the game way too easy.
  7. When building my own party, not using in game NPCs, I like the MC Barb, Druid, Druid, Rangers (x3) with Bears. Barb wielding Firebrand then Tidefall. Druids releasing lightning death then shifting and charging, Rangers with Bows and Sword n Board setups. This party is both woodland themed and very effective. Not big on buffs but hits hard from round 1. When using the in game NPCs it al depends on your choice of MC. I like using Rogue as my MC, with Eder, Durance, Aloth, Sagani and Kana. Usually dumping Eder for Meneha. She is my favorite warrior NPC. High level Barbs rock in this game. They only struggle with bosses but that is what your MC is for!
  8. I would use Sagani over Kana since you're already using a Dragon Thrashed melting Chanter. As you melt the foe Sagani can rapidly finish off specific foes, especially enemy casters, while her pet fox ties up other enemy DPSers.
  9. That's funny. 'Hey guys.. I couldn't feel your first mega sneak attack with that huge sword that drains my life away let alone inflicts many other painful affections. May I have another?'
  10. Oh, some can be important. Two examples: - With high RES you can talk Serel into giving her the amulet for free. This will spare you thousands of pands. Depends on your financial sutuation if that's important or not of course. - with high RES you can talk the Alpine Dragon into giving you Ryona's Vambraces. That means you can get them very eraly without a fight (and come back later to kill the dragon ). Good for builds who want to specialize in DR bypass - like retaliation builds of blunderbuss builds or wizards with focus on spells which benefit from DR bypass and so on. ... and some others. But nothing crucial, it's true. You won't get anything that you also can get otherwise (but in a more difficult way). Most of the time it's just more dialogue options and flavor. So, more a roleplaying than powergamer thing. Any build that has high PER, INT, RES and MIG can do a lot of special dialogues. So things like chanter tanks, paladin tanks and such come to mind. One of the builds that can do this is the following (although I never intended that ): The Golden Dragon Shameless promotion.
  11. How do you stop cc like Prone, Stun, etc., effects?.... won't the Lagufeth take this guy down quick? I love the build for a party DPSer/Frontliner but not sure about solo. Which was your intention? Solo or Party? You buff him with a high level Priestt and he becomes a Steamroller. Did you boost Strength with Drugs?
  12. Simply.... Yes! It matters. Some of us are fools blinded by Nostalgia and a need for continuity and what merely makes us warm and fuzzy. Dont be a Hater.... be a Understander!
  13. Imagine attempting the PnP version! "Break out your TI-80s boys, were going to need an hour to figure out attack round 1!" I can't wait for tabletop...
  14. This is simultaneously the beauty and annoyance of the game, as RPGs go. That makes the game playable for players new not just to PoE, but to RPGs in general. It helps make character and party make-up less important and forgiving. I gave up on my '10s across the board' Average Joe party playthrough, at least on Normal and Hard. Over all play-ability just wasn't affected. It was actually kind of boring. What makes this annoying to me is that I want to play a character that is a hero, not someone who could be anyone and still accomplish the quests. A hero to me has something or at least becomes someone that few others have or are, something extraordinary about them (not just the chosen quest and being "woke"). The Watcher skills/talents are all kind of meh. I would have liked for at least those things to set my PC apart from the rest of the party. The only thing this game suffers from is too much balance on the PC/class/race characteristics at all levels of play. Hard should at least make certain choices more important. Then at PotD it is both choices (of attributes, skills, talents, weapons, defenses, etc) AND tactics (as in a deep understanding of the mechanics) important. Not just a few battles being tougher. I mean, I don't consider myself all THAT skilled at cRPGs. I'm above a novice, but I am only truly experienced in BG, NWN, and Diablo (I've played others but boredom quickly set in). So when PotD was a whole lot easier than I had expected, There appears to me some serious scaling issues. I get that a game needs to be playable by a broad range of experiences. I don't know what the answer is. I enjoy the core game well enough. I kind of wish the expansions were separate quests. Once I get through them, even scaled, the rest of the core game gets far too easy, though the story is still enjoyable. Joe I agree the watcher abilities are subpar and don't make the PC stand out as the hero. Hopefully Deadfire adds better Watcher abilities.
  15. your telling me that a two hander can out dps dual wielding????? no way.......how is this possible Dual wielding isn't necessarily two attacks to a twohanders one attack. You are taking the terms too literally. Attack speed Closes the gap on attacks made with the. Varying weapon setups. Just test it. Console level 1 characters with the same stats and abilities and attack a naked Eder. Then do the same with lvl 16 guys. Chart the results. Like Boeroer said... it's in the math.
  16. You don't really see the meta gamers/build posters saying that about DoC's stats. Her built in Armor limits how you build her. She still makes for an excellent companion when used as a frontliner.
  17. I'd like to see the ship be the players stronghold.
  18. Has anyone recorded the various types of DoTs and their effects? I mean do ability based DoTs and/or spell based DoTs perform differently than DoTs from items? To me it would make sense that they would. DoTs triggered from items should be a set value. INT should only be a factor if the effect is directly initiated by the characters ability or spell.
  19. To be honest INT shouldn't be the gauge on item based effects. It should only effect character based effects. IMO of course.
  20. The damage doesn't change, but high INT 'stretches' the time it takes inflict the damage. It's one of the few misses in this engine. Hopefully OBS corrects this in Deadfire.
  21. Kind Wayfarer all the way. The PoE spin of a KW Pally reminds me of Gandalf in a way.
  22. Ive always liked set bonuses and how they get progressively more powerful as you acquire more pieces to the set. Even the unlaboured blade? Bigtime Level up BS for a 3% firebug pro?Not in that way. UB was the one they screwed up. I mean a unique belt, sword and shield. Equipping more items in a set would make each open up more item abilities. TSR did this in the Ruins of Myth Drannor pop boxed accessory. The Arm of Valor had 5 pieces. Each made the others better. The complete set was powerful.
  23. I would like to see soulbound item groups. Gathering a combo of items would make them all better. A belt, Weapon and shield combo for example.
