  1. Music to my ears all this. GF gone for the weekend, I think I'll take the sailboat out...
  2. I know there was a recent confirmation that something was coming SoonTM, but I'm just wondering if we can expect a new beta update in the near future. No pressure, its not my day off today...
  3. No such thing. If a goal is reached a new one is added. I wonder how far the pre planned list of potential strech goals went, what was on it and what the team would have made up at even higher goals. I feel like they had those preplanned up to $4.0M and after that was an improvisation. Soulbound weapon was a "meh" goal (though I am looking forward to it!), and Ship Crew & 8th companion were direct responses to fans' inquiries, with Obsidian being rather clear they would prefer to not make the 8th companion and figuring out what ship crew will work like after the campaign ended. Sea monsters seemed to me like the most legit addition, though hopefully it was an extention of existiong feature (I so do wish to fight some big, sea monsters!) I might be completely off, but that was my impression during the campaign. You are not alone, I was (and still am) under the impression that the stretch goal was additional sea monsters... The list they showed with the polpovir and the kraken seemed to indicate such. I also reallllllyyyy want to fight some sea monsters, even if only in ship scripted interactions.
  4. As for that wiki, dont trust it. There as been no indication that there will be return companions. Honestly, for the most reliable info, this forum and the Fig page are the most reliable.
  5. If POE's development is any indication, its fairly certain there will be significant patching post-release. Probably not in the vein of patch 3.0, where lots of (welcome) change was introduced, but there will be at a minimum quite a bit of balancing. If this is an issue for you, I suggest waiting a bit. It would be a shame to drop a game because of a bit of necessary patching.
  6. This. You can make a point without using clickbait titles.
  7. As someone who used to work as a journalist, I can assure that yes, you MUST know what you're talking about before interviewing someone on cam. That was possibly the worst interview i ever saw. I feel bad for Obsidian because whenever I see them in interviews, the "journalists" seem clueless as to what type of game POE is. I also worked as a eSports journalist for about a year a while back, and as a cameraman for an gaming channel for another year too, and my experience is that while knowing what you're talking about is the ideal situation, when you're covering conventions and the likes it's hard to prepare for *everything* you will cover there, as quite often you'll even be asked to cover things on the spot without prior plans of making said note (say you're asked to cover A-B-C and prepare a bit for those, but at the spot the editor also finds out D-E-F is happening and requests you to cover these as well). And this is especially true in my experience if it's about a site or channel that's only barely getting started, and has a limited amount of journalists who are not even professionals necessarily and are getting overtasked too. I can sympathize with the journalists in this case, even if it doesn't make for good work. Edit: And yeah, having seen the video I can agree that it's pretty shoddy. Were it me, I would have tried to edit out the multiplayer question and try to cut a few of the "umm" moments and the likes. The video editor hardly did him any favours there. Clearly the interviewer hasn't been at it for long, but oh well, you start off somewhere. They could have at a minimum asked the basics before the interview : multiplayer or no, type of game, etc. I admit that I don't know much about the deadlines in video game journalism, but if journalists can pull it off before going live on national television, I don't see why they can't there too. Especially considering its not live. Anyway, pissed off journalist gripes, I'll just carry on.

  9. God, another "games are being sabotaged by SJW's" post. yay
  10. Probably would be a good idea before going back to the drawing board.
  11. i agree that spellcasting and its ineffectiveness is so far my major issue with Deadfire. I'd start by reducing casting time for most buffs, CC and cipher spells, as previously mentionned. I'd also like to see spells with longer cast times hit harder. If that doesn't solve the issue and make casters interesting, well, I think we should return to POE vancian casting. I for one dont understand why they ditched it. Balance was fine in POE, for me, POTD was enough of a challenge.
  12. Built a berserker/bleak walker and so far it is extremely strong. At lvl 5, I usually one or two shot the weaker lagufaeth with Frenzy and FOD. Next, I think I'll try a GHL/swashbuckler, I really like their concepts.
  13. I've only fiddled a bit with it, but I couldn't seem to find a conditional "at the start of an encounter" or anything of the such. I'm pretty much only interested in having my party buff themselves at the beginning of an encounter, after which I like to manually control their actions. Such a conditional would be really cool (for auto frenzy, disciplined barrage and such). Also, maybe put the conditionals by alphabetical order or by group ? There are quite a bit, not so easy to go through them. Apart from that, it looks really robust !
  14. Hey ! I won't be able to listen to the stream, but if anything cool or interesting is mentionned and someone reports it back to the forum, well, that would be really cool. Thx !
  15. I don't have a screenshot of this, but from the mainscreen, the UI keeps flickering and disappearing. I mean specifically the middle box with the pause, formation, ship, inventory, etc. buttons, the character ability UI (spells and such) and the tooltip boxes when hovering characters, enemies and NPCs. It's quite annoying. Thanks ! Edit : just noticed this is in the known major issues. Carry on !
  16. I actually like the longer cast times, if spells are sufficiently powerful to warrant them. The whole cast time/interrupt mechanic is good, but spell damage, the length of effects and penetration need to be revised. So far, I haven't had any difficulties either with the retargetting, it works (for me) fine. My 2 cents
  17. ?? Not sure what you're referring to, I mean't the graph in the text with the power lvl break down and the number of abilities per level
  18. Check Update 40, it should answer your questions : https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=480#updates
  19. So far tried a dualwielding Streetfighter/Stalker, nice comboes with the pet getting sneak attack and the bonuses for both PC and pet being close and in the thick of it being in the thick of it.
  20. My first impressions (in no particular order) : + nice art (needs a bit of tweaking, but my rig is also bad) + good character creation + new skills are cool (although haven't really used them yet) - way too many sound effects on hit, inspirations and such. Even with the volume down, it was overwhelming - combat can become even more confusing then POE1. It's actually hard to distinguish a downed companion from a healthy one. It needs to be clearer when companions are down. Also, in fights, enemies and companions seem to often become one big blob of colour. Hard to see. - removing universal talents was also a bad idea, there should be active abilities, passive talents and universal talents. - Lots of missing text (very forgivable at this stage) - the deadfire archipelago background is missing its bonus - the UI flickers in fights when the game has been running for a while (making it very hard to select spells or abilities) - a few random crashes here and there (especially when going to the main menu) - the level up sound keeps ringing every now and then for no reason - many icons (specifically items) are a bit too small... (I'll admit my monitor isn't too big) So yeah for now, that's where I'm at. I'll give another run soon enough. So far, I'm 6.5 on 10.
  21. Great news, its downloading. Thanks !
  22. Hi, so I generated my steam key, registered it in Steam, and, nothing. The backer beta doesn't appear in my library. A couple other forumites seem to have the same issue, all on steam. GOG seems to work fine. Any word on this ? Thanks, I'm looking forward to help make this game great !
  23. Sorry mate, got mine on GoG and seems to be working just fine Damn... Maybe it's karma because I've got a chemistry exam later tonight
