Polite request: better wall placement in game
dukeisaac replied to dukeisaac's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Obsidian could probably find inspiration in the old wall placement systems of rts games like Age of Empire.

Polite request: better wall placement in game
dukeisaac replied to dukeisaac's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Glad I still have my dictionary from 1790 otherwise I would have trouble knowing what you want! A circular wall would be useful Lol, I MIGHT have bastardised a French word... Then again : https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ameliorate

Polite request: better wall placement in game
Hi ! Love the game, almost 600 hours recorded. One thing though: I really dislike the wall placement system, its often hard to properly place one. Any way to ameliorate this ? Thanks

Modding the XP gain: would be grateful for input from those who've done it
dukeisaac replied to xzar_monty's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire: Modding (Spoiler Warning!)I like the mod that reduces xp by 30 %. It has really made my games much more enjoyable, along with the obligatory UI mod. That last one is heaven

Why are you punished so harshly for rotating companions in this game?
dukeisaac replied to Jayd's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I've experienced this too in my current playthrough. Maia left and Konstanten died (ok I gave his body for my survival), so I needed to pick up another companion. I guess I saw it has a challenge and it's turned out ok. Not a fan of leveling up from the start, I added the mod to slow it.

Difficulty choices question
dukeisaac replied to SweetMagooMagoodle's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)For me, POTD with crit path upscaling seems to be a good difficulty. I also added Woedica's challenge for extra joy. Most fights are balanced and every now and then I need to use all of my party's tricks and abilities to survive an encounter. I often get wiped and am forced to rethink my strategy. The DLCs in particular have been challenging in this aspect... I must have restarted the Burning Bridge like 10 times, at lvl 16. As for the base game, the difficulty is also pretty good. Overall, I'm liking the challenge. The only bore was fighting Concelhaut, which took almost 15 minutes because of his high defenses and my lack of resting beforehand.

Finally some sales evidence
dukeisaac replied to no1fanboy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)I still have hope for POE 3: - the tools and the engine are in place - the mechanics are established (hopefully) - there is a market for the game, albeit a small one A shorter, focused game with heavy modding options could be viable IMO. Honestly, I'm really impressed by the junior designers for BoW, SSS and FS.

How is the difficulty in 4.0?
dukeisaac replied to Ashray's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Huge fan. To me, it took care of the game's attrition problem, ensuring every fight counts. Resting is now a real decision, as good food is rare and there are a limited amount of inns to rest at (most being in Neketaka).

How is the difficulty in 4.0?
dukeisaac replied to Ashray's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)For me, POTD (main story upscaled) with Woedica, Ondra and Skaen's Challenges and the reduced xp mod is the perfect way to play. I'm having a blast in my current playthrough.

God Challenges Feedback!
they don't? (haven't tried beta) Well, I checked with the beta and no, they don't... shame because Woedica's challenge is already pretty rough with the no healing and only prepared meals counting for camping. Heya dukeisaac, Did you attempt to empower while out of combat while checking this? Empowering your hero should still refund resources in Woedica's Challenge if used while in combat. While outside of combat, currently it does nothing (but it also shouldn't consume your empower). There's a bug in our system for the team to look at this, but that should be how it currently works. Hope that helps =) I'll try it out tomorrow But if this is true, I'm one happy camper ! Thanks Andy Edit: I can confirm that it works and that its awesome. Many thx to the dev team !

Some feedback for Woedica's challenge: it would be great if empowers would still give for half resources (like in the main game). Please ?

Been Out of the Loop. Anything New Since Summer?
dukeisaac replied to Marigoldran's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)With Patch 4.0 and the third DLC out on December 13th, Deadfire will be in a very good state IMO. Pretty good balance, a multitude of ways to customise your experience (difficulty, bonuses, builds, etc.), so far excellent DLC... It's finally getting to what I was hoping for when I backed it. It still has systemic issues, but there is enough good and very good to make it a memorable game, which I hope to play for another 300 hours + Just don't tell my wife.

v4.0.0 is now available on the Beta Branch
God Challenges no longer disable mods or Berath's Blessings. Am I reading this right ? Does this mean I can have Berath's Blessings and Magran's Challenges AT THE SAME TIME ?!!?
