  1. Looks like inxile is part of Microsoft now too.
  2. With my evil playthroughs i didnt accept all quest or sometimes i did accept but didnt finish since there was no resolution for my character in game so i had to roleplay one. I did playthroughs that resulted in evil actions (one we would consider evil) but were understandable. I played a hearth orlan slave stolen from glanfathan home in the dyrewood trying to find his way home. So he was mean, suspicious, manipulative, thieving to those he perceived as part of the culture that stole and enslaved him and he was appreciative, understanding, helpful to the glanfathans he made contact with. So it was a matter of perspective if the character was 'evil'. I dont like thinking those terms good, evil like dnd system and i think POE supported that. Here are some other characters i made. I did a wizard who lost his mother do to some disease and swore to find a way to conquer death at all cost (i based this character on dr frankenstein from penny dredful on netflix who didnt start evil but slowly justified more and more bad actions because of his goals). He traveled to dyrewood to learn about new science animancy to see if that would be the answer since his magic didnt work. In this framework, he can justify 'evil' acts as furthering his study or getting money to support his study and he can ignore pleas for help since they are irrelevant to his goals. This means i helped peoples sometimes because i thought they could further my knowledge or be useful and sometimes i would be cold, callus, and use the helpless. Like the animancer you find in Raedrics castle Osrya. She was trying to cure the hollowborn through study but used evil means to accomplish the goal. You see this alot with people having higher goals and think that the ends justify the means. I also did a berath priest judge dredd i am the law run. In many circumstances i did evil things because they were lawful. I basically forced myself to respect whatever law that city or area adhered to instead of my personal conception of law since i believed this is what my god berath wants. This gave rise to stuff like killing Kolsc and leaving gilded vale in hands of Raedric since he was rightful ruler but doing so mean that town continued to suffer. This one though did good stuff to so it was a mixed bag. To me evil is a matter of perspective for these characters. They believed what they were doing was right according to their ethos but their actions caused a lot of suffering and were evil from an outside modern observer but they didnt view themselves as evil and this made for more interesting characters instead of the usual i am just an evil prick give me all your money runs. Again with these playthroughs i didnt take or complete all quest. Some quest didnt fit my character and some after getting to a certain point my character didnt think completing them furthered any goal they had or there wasnt a resolution that matched my character so this also played into the roles for me. These characters help me roleplay more instead of power game or try for some completionist run and made my experience with the game more fun.
  3. Josh Interview this is an interesting answer . - Hadn't heard josh say they were ready to leave obisidian to do kickstarter if obsidian didnt do it.
  4. The first time i play obivion i enchanted all the pieces of my armor with chameleon , i think that is name, basically making me perma invisible and untargetale and beat the at 1/3 -1/4 of the game including the end boss this way . to tell the truth i was tired of game and just wanted to get through it so this was a relief for me. never played it again
  5. This is what is hard for me right now. i havent been able to finish the game and it due the to main quest/side quest dynamic. its to open. The main quest seems so urgent but then you hit nekataka and with tons of content and the game kinda just stalls. Before playing i heard the main story is brief so im afraid if i follow it the game will end. It would have been better to have a long main story and dont really like one giant city like this with all the content. I agree the first game felt more like you could stretch your legs for the most part and not feel the main story suffer and i was more interested in POE1 story. I put over 1000 hours into POE1 and for me it was because i really enjoyed the story and tone and world. I liked that your character was understated and the world didnt revolve around you. no one really cared about you at least not in the beginning. The hooks into this story are not as fun for me.
  6. I wouldnt be surprised if you can do this through console commands. you can add talents abilities through consoles already.
  7. No you are not dumb for putting on ranged character. Might increase damage for any type of attack so its fine. Strictly from mechanics if you are putting ranged then the "Preservation: +50 Defense while Stunned, +50 Defense while Prone" enchantment would be better. There is a +4 might helm out there and there is a helm that gives you +3 might on kill and others that gives you +2 might. Check the wiki if you want to see what is out there.
  8. I am actually annoyed with these two axes should have been one handed. we needed more one handed axes not two
  9. I think for wizard a cipher could potientially replace it. Cipher has lots of nice CC options. For priest Druid has nice heals and armor buffs / Chanter has choices for buffs to stats and protections for armor and enemy debuffs but cant cast right away like priest. However, if you remove your priest make sure to have at least one or more characters with good lore skill since you can create prayer scrolls to counter enemy debuffs. These prayer against scrolls are basically the priest spells that do the same protection from stuff.
  10. How you finished the game before? Also something to consider is the favored weapons of each priest. Berath - Mace/Greatsword Margan - Sword/Arquebuses
  11. I agree with the OP i really didnt like the camera in DOS 2 found it limiting but there is a mod out there to expand the camera view to help. But i also dont like combat that much either especially the armor. but theres several mods out there im eyeing to give DOS2 a try one day.
  12. We migrate to an unofficial forum? Strict forums seem to result from large populations where cheeky conflict devolves into groups bludgeoning out other groups or individual voices. We all move to the Codex. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo...
  13. Here is info about Shacknews documentary video series called '24 'Til Launch' starting with PIllars deadfire and '500 page behind-the-scenes details that recount the making of Obsidian's contemporary RPGs and classic titles such as Baldur's Gate' from shack news tomorrow. Here is a round table with obsidian right after deafire went live from shacknews.
  14. i usually take the two animal talents over something like Accurate wounding shots. Its really easy to buff accuracy especially for ranger
  15. You can get them there but its random loot and you will have to save scum to get them
  16. The beginning can be tough. One easy way to make it easier is to find / hire more companions. You can have 6 party members. You will eventually find some but you can also hire them at an inn. Another thing to remember is that you can come back to tough areas. Sometimes you can only go so far in an area or dungeon and may need to wait until you level up and get stronger. You dont have to complete every map before moving on. For instance there is a dungeon in the first town that i usually wait until i get the first 3 companions or so. You can find 4 companions in the first act with some levels. Also hint once you get those first companions i would go southward and complete areas and quest moving that way. As far as abilities i would be on the look at for hard CC / debuffs . So for instance wizards get a great first level debuff chill fog which blinds enemies . blind is a great debuff. CC and debuff and for you counter to debuff and buffs is a big part of the game. Early on you dont have tons of choices but you have some.
