  1. Damn, visually looks really good and still true to the original. I'm just really damn scared about all those other changes they are making...

  2. From what I read, the Algerian and Taiwanese boxers werent disqualified until they beat specific boxers (a Russian and Bulgarian) at the IBA championships but the disqualification was on failed results the IBA already had from earlier tests. Further, the IBA has denied requests to provide the Algerian boxer or her coaches the test results, have not described what test were done and if translations I've read are correct haven't been consistent with what the tests showed. If that's true, seems like there's more reason to be suspicious of the IBA here than 'lol Russians'.

  3. As the conversation is unfolding, I will remind all community members that OBS' fora are grounded in an understating of inclusivity and celebration of diversity. Do indeed debate but also remember that discriminatory or (ex)implicit argumentation that diminishes the dignity of others is contrary to the ethos of this community and the Forum Guidelines.

  4. I miss more pets, I wish some "neutral" insects were tameable. Like bees, ladybugs and many others. Not to mention that it would be great to be able to move around the garden more, in addition to teleports and rappels. We need mounts, it would make pets more interesting. Not to mention that as they are neutral insects, they could help us in battles, when another insect attacks us, they will get angry too, just like the mechanics of neutral insects.

  5. Kengan Ashura I do not say this lightly, but I think this may be the thing that unites this thread in sheer disdain. This feels like it was made in a lab specifically for me to hate. Some of the worst CGI animation I've ever seen combines with a stupid ass tournament arc and the worst Shonen tropes you can think of. The first 5 minutes sees a middle-aged office worker see two gym gods fight and his response is to go have the secks (for the first time in 15 years, as the narrator makes sure to tell us) because of survival instincts. Thankfully we are saved from a cgi secks scene, but instead there is a very unsettling closeup of the office workers face and at that point I decided that I will never take a Netflix suggestion in my life. I'd like to say it got me to cancel Netflix, but I don't pay for it anyways lmao. The one thing I'll give it is that I did not hate it so much to go pick up a shoe to throw at the TV, but if I had been wearing shoes you can bet your ass that I would have thrown at least one at the screen.

  6. Finished the Lost Valley in Solasta. Did not expect the plot twist. Sided with the people and failed the actual job your party is originally hired to do. Had fun.

  7. Finished Pumpkin Jack. Not recommended. Review: --- Started Unsighted. It looks like a post-apocalyptic Souls-like in the pixel art style. Slightly reminds of Hyper Light Drifter. --- The Shrine was reasonably good with the unique longbow, which was somewhere in the castle (I think, shortly before Nashandra's portrait). Poison arrows helped against the sturdier foes.

  8. Little bit more of DS2 again. First in line was Duke's Dear Freja. For some reason, despite Tseldora being pretty annoying place to run around, and you have to Homeward a lot if you want all the loot. Especially the easter egg Pickaxe , I had zero wipes while traversing to her. Summoned two summons and had a chill fight The next one was Lost Sinner. And again, despite not in love, with the exploding mobs, I have managed to survive the walk to her up including the fight with her with no wipes. Again, no wipes, but before the end of the game session, I have decided to fight with Vengarl at his new position. I have lacked Fragrant Branch of Yore up until now. Of course before landing at his place, I had two comedy wipes again, due to me missing the landing point on a bridge to him Both bosses on first try. With summons, but that's OK for now. Plan is to have a little bit more challenge at NG+ The third one was the Dragonrider duo. The fight was again pretty fine with the summon helping out, but the road through Drangleic Castle was pain in the ass I have been surprised few times, with few changes from vanilla. The mob placing is completely different, so I did not knew, what awaits me. That's why I ended up with 8 asskicks before finishing the session. I have also tried to get the complete Ruin armour set, before venturing forth, but after 5 or 6 rounds with Ruin Sentinels, I am still missing the chest piece. But this one actually helped me a little bit with leveling up. 101 wipes. Next in line, Looking Glass Knight and Shrine of Amana... And I have found myself to put the next session off few times, as I hate this area as much as a flatearther, hates a geography book.

  10. There's a fairly big question whether 'ghoul' is appropriate there..

  11. Yeah, Ross' campaign (Accursed Farms) didn't really need to be gaming-specific here, the right to be able to use the things that you've bought seems like it should be pretty obvious and inalienable.

  13. Basically anything with a computer suffers from similar issues. The one that got a lot of traction (ohoho) here was John Deere being able to brick their tractors' control/ management computers if you decided not to pay their annual licensing sub or got an unsanctioned repair. Certainly not a recent phenomenon even outside gaming, eg here's an article from 2016 about John Deere's shenanigans.

  14. These thing have quite literally happened in other industries (See Fisker cars sunroof), and will likely happen again, to physical objects. There is a reason why Louis Rossman is constantly angry. Sure, I don't think anyone can definetly prove that the other industries aped gaming, but it's highly likely that they did. And "always will be non-aaa gaming as well", I'm sorry to say, is an asinine arguement and you know it.

  15. Not quite gaming, but I finished the Fallout TV show. It's good! Way, way better than I expected. I was quite surprised how tight the script is, with good set ups and pay offs. I wish violence was used with a bit more purpose - as it is, it just style, and as such I numbed myself to it rather quickly, but am weary to recommed the show to some folks that I know might enjoy it otherwise. As for the future - there is perhaps an overarching consipracy thingy going on, that I am not a fan off. I fear the interesting potential of the wasteland (Fallout's wasteland, not The Wasteland) can get lost if there is a big, bad pulling the strings of the ENTIRE WORLD! I also feel like some lore might not be matching up, but frankly it's been so long since I played a fallout, and I skipped couple recent titles, so who knows (not me!).

  16. Outside of the cases @Boeroer mentioned, melee + ranged is only useful if you really want to only attack with a specific weapon and also get the dual wielding speed. And if you are not using full attack abilities as the core of your build. It's not like you'll be regularly alternating between swinging the sabre and shooting. For example when fighting vessels, using Grave Calling + ranged weapon is something I often do. Since there's hardly a better weapon in this scenario, why not attack with it all the time. Scordeo's Edge is an all-purpose weapon that's also probably worth doing this, Adaptive stacks significantly faster and Blade Cascade triggers more often this way.

  17. So the Italian boxer was... bribed by Russia to throw in the towel to get eastern Europeans upset? Doesn't seem overly likely. The last boxer Khalif beat at the 2023 IBA WC (?and the one who got upgraded to bronze after her disqualification?*) was South Korean. She did beat a Russian in the 1st round, but went on to box twice (*) after that. What the tests showed has certainly not been consistent in the press since both elevated testosterone and genetically male chromosomes have been stated as being the cause there, but the IBA chair has specifically said it was a chromosomal result ie XY/ genetic maleness which caused the dq in the last day or so. That is ~trivial to disprove if it were false, and neither appealed to the CAS which you'd expect as a matter of course. The wikipedia article is actually kind of funny in retrospect as the dqs were not considered enough to even make the 'controversies' section. End of the day the issue is caused by the IOC not having the courage to make actual Olympic wide rules about the issue and just issuing an extraordinarily wishy washy "Framework" instead. If they did make actual rules it wouldn't matter whether it was them or the IBA or World Athletics deciding eligibility and all of Lin, Khalif and Semenya would be free- or not- to compete based on rules everyone knew. But they can't do that, because any decision they made would inevitably offend someone and cut down on their commercial opportunities. *for extra confusion, the official results have the ROK boxer winning 5-0 instead of by dq, and Khalif is credited with coming =5th. Unlike Lin who does have a dq result and isn't placed at all, but obviously did box since she progressed to the quarters. Everyone seems to agree Khalif was actually dqed as well though.

  18. Well there are far more games coming with each year. If that's the reason, than it is an ok one, especially if devs can find the use of the extra time (Hey, Obsidian, if the game is finished in November, I am more than happy to test it for you :-P). And being part of Game Pass lineup, it should important for XBOX to utilise it properly. Releasing Avowed in the crowded pre-christmas did seem like a risky choice. Or maybe XBOX is happy with it's 2024 and needs to pad out 2025 Maybe they got a word that Silksong is dropping before the end of 2024 and know better than to compete

  22. She is a genetic anomaly, which around 5 percent of the population is. But she was was born female and didn't ever transition, which people seem to be struggling to understand. But that's the whole issue with all of this gender politics stuff. Genetics are not black and white. They are complicated.

  23. I just read the story on this. Your hot take is dumb. Imane Khelif is not transgender. She's not even new to the Olympics. She lost in 2020 in the semi-finals. https://time.com/7006338/imane-khelif-lin-yu-ting-gender-controversy-olympics-women-boxing/ Genetics are complicated. Should Michael Phelps be disqualified because he has a freakish wingspan?

  24. Next two bosses in DS2 defeated. Old Iron King and Congregation (yes i know, I know ) Pretty straightforward this time, although, as always, I have messed up few times Both Iron Keep and first half of Brightstone Cave Tseldora, were more like training in patience than anything else, as the mobs have been pretty aggressive again, but doable. In between running from a bonfire to a bonfire, I have visited the Belfry Sol for Mad Warrior Bell Keeper Covenant grind, which is needed to be leveled to rank 2, due to one spell needed for Platinum Trophy is available only by this means. Pretty boring grind... And what makes it even more boring is, that you cannot predict when he spawns, so you have to run up and down the ladder like a clown, until it spawns. On PS3, you can hear the Blu-Ray spinning loud every time, he spawned, so all you need to do, was to spawn Rest at Bonfire button until you heard a loud noise. Not anymore on other platforms Anyway, Old Iron King has been defeated on second try with the help of local summon, due to me typically dropping to lava due to losing focus for a second or two Congregation on the other hand, has been defeated on first try of course. The only issue were the Falconer Guys running and sniping around first bonfire, which are new in SotFS version of the game, and me forgetting how to spawn Bernhart of Jugo for his quest. So I had to backtrack a lot a clear the road to the boss room few times, before I could finally enter the fight. I have also picked up few of the loots around the second bonfire at Tseldora, and asked Blacksmith Ornifex to craft my first boss weapon - Dragonslayer Spear, whih I loved to use in my DS Reamster walkthrough. Unfortunately, I will probably not be able to wield it this time, as it needs much much more Dexterity to use, and I am investing more into Strength and Faith this time around But we'll see. Lightning Heide Lance+4 is fine substitute for now.

  25. Finished Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Purgatory It has a "Bash the Fash" achievement, so it gets a 100% rating from me just for being openly and unapologetic antifa. Which works well for the Werewolf setting, as that has always in a way been the left-leaning part of the World Of Darkness with its theme of eco terrorism and thus anti corporate greed. As a sequel, it loosely ties into the story from Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart Of The Forest. The main character and some npcs from that game appear in this as well, and part of the game takes place in the same forest. You do not need to have played the previous game though, as this is an independent story from that. The story features two divergent branches as your character chooses what matter to investigate. I have only played one branch, but I expect both do lead to the same finale. What sets this WOD visual novel apart from Coteries/Shadows of New York - its otherwise closest kin - is that, while you play a set person, you choose your skills, tribe, and auspice (class). These don't affect the story in a major way, but allow for an s experience slightly more tailored to the player's preference.

  26. I've already explained to the team how to do a proper Flight effect for Bee's They have Stamina, Going Up spends considerable Stamina, Going Down spends no Stamina, and Going Horizontal spends a very small amount of Stamina. This way you can ensure people can't just get a bee and fly everywhere, and if they want the bee to be super useful they can upgrade it with Higher structures for the Bee to start on. Along with armour and food buffs. Edit: and leaving them somewhere for longer than 1 minute will cause the Bee to return home with a message saying *Your Bee Returned Home from Boredom* - so you'll need to build Nectar stations to keep the bee happy while you're off collecting stuff Maybe they could also help you avoid Fights? Where Only Mosquito's and Wasps hate you, and from a smaller distance.

  27. I agree i was thinking the same thing. if we could have bees or ladybugs as rideable mounts that'd make the game a whole lot more fun . but so it isn't OP they'd have to put the recipe for the saddle or the taming thing in the upper yard or smthn

  28. They are not attacking Algeria, they are attacking "the Western conservative values". It has absolutely nothing to do, that she is Algerian, it has everything to do, to further divide the people in the EU. Especially in the Eastern European member states, where this has turned into abomination feeding on hate, misogynia and LGBTI+ hate. Which further fuels Russian hybrid war goals...
