This game is overrated. It is just a dice roll generator with a bunch of oversexed 1-dimensional companions. Jagged Alliance 3 is way better.4 points

Here's a funny thing. I was actually not a big fan of Skyrim or Fallout 4. I mean, they were decent open world games, and I got my money's worth, but the story totally fell flat with me. Same with Oblivion and Fallout 3. The gameplay was so-so. The world building was pretty good and that was basically why I played them. Starfield, on the other hand, is way more up my alley. Tons of gameplay options and a much more palatable story. It's probably my favorite Bethesda game since Daggerfall (or maybe Lost Vikings?) Maybe it's too early to call it, but I'm comfortable with it so far. Between this and JA3, it's been a great couple months of gaming.4 points

I would make sure that said company at the very least took me out to a fancy dinner before it tried to romance me.3 points

With a name like that, I would not publicly admit ever coming across that development team. What would people think of me!3 points

It is. And it has many annoying features like lack of party formation, missing content if you don't long rest enough times, companions walking over traps and poison clouds, the main character stepping on lava instead of jumping over it, for example. A pretty good game, but not nearly as good as some people say, imo. @majestic said it perfectly:2 points

I saw this comment recently: "Starfield is like you're over 40 years old. There is a universe to explore, but you're already tired from work and it's time to sleep." ...I'm not over 40 years old (or even particularly close to it), but it still struck a chord.2 points

Damn, I kept playing Armored Core 6 since it instantly moves you into NG+ and ... there are new missions now. Was playing one of the first missions when suddenly a popup shows up and I get a choice to betray my allies. Also some other missions later are swapped out with something else. So while the difficulty isn't that different from my first playthrough, I'm still getting new armor parts and weapons, AND there seems to be more story that unfolds.2 points

Starfield setting definitely appeals more to me. Fantasy world need to put in work for me to care, where is semi grouned SF is easier for me to connect. I haven't played enough to make up my mind on the gameplay loot. I just broke free of the rigit tutorial. So far, my only wish would be for it to be more immersive - allow me to feel like I am exploring space, but maybe I will find a way to feel that.2 points

I explored more of moonrise towers, explored the town outside moonrise and killed the three siblings with dialogue, got jumped by Githyanki, and helped reunite the spirit of nature for the area. Halsin's joined the gang officially and despite being jacked he's got 10 Strength, I guess he uses animal stats when shifted so that's not a big deal but it's a little weird. Spoilers for Dark Urge2 points

TESIII: Morrowind. Watched a wizard experiencing falling damage, explored slavers' cave, talked to the locals. Also realised that I do not remember how to rest, fast travel, or sort the inventory by weight or whether it was possible at all. Still, I like the dialogue system with random NPCs (the new information becomes available to ask to elaborate) and the consistency of the replies (so I do not have to parse them only to gain the same information). While it is not what I would want from a party-based CRPG, it works well with the sandbox design of TES. The story so far - I was told to go to Balmora and find Caius Casades.2 points

I love the travel. It's a throwback to Daggerfall. In fact, more so than any Bethesda game since, Starfield is like a spiritual successor to Daggerfall.2 points

I watched some gameplay and want a refund for that time. The facial animations are shockingly bad, bad for 10 years ago tier, and it's baffling that it got a pass to release like that. They're probably banking on modders to fix it for them, along with the performance issues and everything else. Everything else looked like what you'd expect from Elder Scrolls with Guns and also in Spayyyce, Bethesdajank that was old over a decade ago with some **** space travel tacked on for you to poke around planet sized BG1 wilderness areas. This game is the Tom Hanks live action pinocchio movie of cRPGs.2 points

As always with this gen the issue is the price inflation and associated naming scheme stupidities. Comparing like to like the '7800'xt is a pretty decent improvement over its actual equivalent, in the 6700xt. Trying to sell them for the same price you could get a 6950xt for a few months ago though, as here? Taking the absolute mick.2 points

I grilled some chicken thighs over the weekend. Marinated them in a mix of mayo and hot sauce overnight then slathered them with a homemade Carolina Gold BBQ sauce while they cooked. I made 10 thighs for 5 people but by the time I actually sat down 10 minutes later there were none* left. I'm assuming they were good. * I told them to go ahead and eat without me because I wasn't that hungry and was still manning the grill2 points

Don't worry, Bethesda is probably going to release the game on every device with a display at some point in the future. You can get the 1st, 5th, 10th and probably 15th anniversary edition on your next smart-fridge for only $ 99.99 in the next years, with upcoming releases on the Playstation 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 as well as XBOX SERIES Y, Z, AA, AB, AC, AD, AE and the Nintendo Switch 2, 3, 4 and 5. There's bound to be a sale coming at some point. Or you can just sub to Gamepass for a month or so.2 points

The default GOG version (GOTY, v.2.0.0.7). It did not require any additional configuration (as far as I remember - it says that I installed it on 2022/05/03) and runs reasonably well on Windows 10 (the window outlines appear if I switch between applications, disappears if I switch between resolutions).1 point

Look it'd be one thing if this was a lofi game or something but if you're saying stuff like "the game runs fine, it's your computer that's the problem" and the characters look like a badly animated thing someone made while drunk then you should get roasted over that. Tears of the Kingdom has better looking characters and it's on Nintendo Switch. But even all that aside, it's an intentionally boring game with janky ass gameplay. **** that.1 point

I don't know that I can compare them that way. It compares well to Daggerfall because it is a massive world that relies on fast travel and randomization. Morrowind is my favorite of the Oblivion/Skyrim grouping because it is a very unique setting, instead of generic fantasy, but it's still not the same scale as Starfield and Daggerfall.1 point

I've not played either game yet, I have Starfield installed but I'm waiting until I have enough time to dedicate a solid minimum 3 to 4 hour block (read: the weekend) to fiddle with the character creator and go through the prologue. However, if BG3 really did set a new standard then rather than cry about how they shouldn't be expected to reach such levels maybe these devs should instead step their ****ing game up, no pun intended. They can use whatever excuses they want but what I hear/read is "we're just not good enough".1 point

I was not comparing the games, that would in fact make no sense. I was talking about people's reaction to the conditions involved in developing them. According to many devs, BG3 is an "anomaly", a game that is incredibly good because of how much money/people/time was available and we shouldn't expect the same result in other games. But now we have Starfield, developed by more people, for a longer time and with more money, and even so nobody is afraid of the expectations it creates. Clearly, it should have been much better at launch.1 point
-
I wouldn't compare BG3 to Starfield on a lot of stuff, but what they can be compared on (like voice acting or animations) BG3 absolutely beats Starfield. The conversations/facial animations looked like they'd fit in a vanilla New Vegas or Skyrim and some random goblins reacting to Quentin Tarantino's guest writing is more memorable than anything I've seen from Starfield. Mediocre.1 point

I defeated the forge boss easily because he somehow stayed in the middle of the map. Then I wanted to change the forged items and I discovered I didn't save after the battle. I had to do the fight again and this time the boss was smarter, avoiding the center area. Hasted Karlach took care of it. Revisiting the Myconids, I discovered an area I hadn't visited yet and, I swear, it was another failed attempt to avoid a battle against some Kuo-Toas. Now it's time for the mountain pass. Edit: I almost attacked the Myconids when they started to dance. I thought they were turning hostile.1 point

would try new aaa game like armored core or starfield if they don't have such ridiculous size stick with text based game just seems far more convenient1 point

I know this is an Old Post, and I hope necro-ing it like this is ok... but how would this sort of build work today? I know that there were rebalancing patches that changed lots of stuff between release and the current state of the game, and I'm not sure how much that would have affected this. I did see Boeroer's comment on a similar post from earlier this year which linked to this one... And there were no caveats in it, so maybe that is answer enough? I did also see Boeroer's lovely build for Counselor Ploi, but I'm interested in a ranged paladin for no really good reason.1 point

I always hate views like this, because it assumes that the person in power is not an idiot, but we know how easy it is for an idiot to get into a position of power. /Edit: Or not just an idiot. It could simply be a terrible person who will only look out for their own gain. There's more than enough examples for that.1 point

I feel like a traitor. I live in Cackalacky, sweet & tangy vinegar-based BBQ central and yet I tend to go to hot mustard for my BBQ sauce needs.1 point

when we make pulled pork, which is too often, we typical regret not also making carolina gold bbq sauce. am a fan o' the tang from the apple cider vinegar mixed with mustard... although am liking less sweet than it is traditional prepared. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I don't know if you can fly into the atmosphere, but you can fly around space and dock with stations and other ships. I think it is just that everything is so far apart, they decided to make it easy to skip around via fast travel instead. I guess I should try to fly around in the atmosphere, but I've mostly been just running around everywhere. I could use a rover in this game too.1 point

You don't have to do anything to unlock the first level of a skill, but to level the skill up, you need to complete a challenge. For example, to increase my persuasion skill to level 2, I need to successfully persuade people 5 times. I had my first mission where I needed to actually be a decent pilot. It was pretty tough at first as I figured out how to balance my power levels to the shields, guns, and engines. Also thank goodness I upgraded my ship with missiles. Once I got the hang of the dogfight, it turned out pretty well. I'm curious how well an actual decent battleship handles in combat. Diemos has some pretty sweet looking rides.1 point

we don't follow ina garten... at all. however, at a cooking site we saw a link to an article where ina recommends store bought alternatives she always uses instead o' making from scratch. we saw pepperidge farm stuffing mix were included and figured we would give it a try. we were all set to find something to quibble 'bout regarding the dressing, but our post cooking concerns were extreme minor. the pepperidge farm stuffing mix is a bit salty but not excessive so-- am suggesting to avoid salted butter when preparing and make certain your chicken stock is low sodium... unless you like salty. proviso: we did not follow directions exact. after sautéing vegetables (we went a bit heavy on the celery and onion and next time would likely add mushrooms... maybe?) we added chicken stock and one egg yolk to the four cups o' stuffing mix and then cooked on the stovetop in a large skillet so we could better produce carbonized bits in the dressing. again, we tried to find complaints but is all minor. the bread cubes was small and we prefer a bit larger torn bread pieces. perhaps the dressing woulda' benefited from a smidge more thyme and sage? ordinarily our chicken/turkey dressing is a bit complex, but the pepperidge farm mix is easy and good. am doubting many posters make dressing frequent, but the ina suggestion is a time saver and results in a nice dressing which may easily be customized to suit individual tastes. aside, our new normal for making boneless and skinless chicken breasts is to buy those split and bone-in chicken breasts and then debone 'em our self. the resulting boneless-but-skin-on breast am finding is our ideal cooking option when am forced to prepare breasts. saw the method at atk. bonus: the leftover bones is great for making chicken stock. we pound the breasts flatish and then cook two-to-three salted/seasoned breasts skin side down in a large skillet. is becoming increasing difficult to find younger bird breasts here in california, so as often as not, even with a twelve inch skillet, am only able to fit two flattened breasts in the pan. once the chicken breasts are in a medium-high heat pan, we place a 5.5 qt. cast iron dutch oven on top o' the breasts, resulting in constant pressure and uniform pan contact. in our sooper-slick cast iron pan we need zero cooking oil as the skin renders enough fats to prevent any kinda sticking. with a stainless steel pan we require minimal oil. depending on thickness, we cook ~7.5 minutes before removing the dutch oven and flipping the chicken to cook reduced to medium for another seven-to-eight minutes. depending on the heat distribution o' your pan or hob, you may need rotate the chicken once-per-side so as to get even doneness. the skin helps keep the chicken moist and the pan leavings is perfect for gravy or any kinda chickeny pan sauce. if your dinner guest don't like skin, remove the offending organic matter after cooking, but pretty much all the fat from the skin is gonna have rendered out while cooking. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Alright, just finished AC6. As I suspected, the Sea Spider was the hardest boss in the game. Had to repeat a few of the later boss fights a few times as well, but not as extreme. Most of them I did in 2 or 3 attempts, only robot Malenia took me something around 10 maybe. All in all a good game, despite some annoyances. Kinda tempted to try NG+ now. Especially since I don't like the ending that I got. Oh, and since this is one of the few From Software games that I was actually able to completely finish, I'm guessing it's one of their easier titles.1 point

Ha, I was approached by a feral cat in DR. It was late night and my wife and I were returning from one of the bars when this skinny fellow darted out of the bushes right in front of us and stared meowing. I went back to our room, ordered two club sandwiches from room service, then brought all the ham and turkey from the sandwiches down to my hungry buddy that was still under the same bush. It was really rewarding to me to see him jump on the pile of meats like a starving beast and have a feast. \hugself1 point

Did more Armored Core 6. Looks like it suffers a bit from the same issue that Bloodborne had. Some fights are impossibly hard, while many of the other fights are super easy. Was stuck at the Sea Spider for a whole day until I finally managed to take that bitch down. Everything after that now was almost a cakewalk in comparison. Not sure if it's because the Sea Spider made me git gud, or if it's just a general balance issue. In any case, my go to strategy right now is to double-gatling into everyone's faces + missile spam whenever possible. The double gatlings don't have much ammo, but they are melting almost everything if I manage to hit. And most enemies don't seem to like it if I stay close to them -- so that's what I'm doing, just hugging them as much as possible. Some enemies are too fast, and they are dodging away from my hail of bullets, in which case I jump up and go into hover mode (tetrapod legs for the win), and splatter them from top-down. Ez.1 point

Watched the first episode of One Piece. Honestly was not bad. I mean, it's pretty ridiculous when Zorro puts the 3rd sword into his mouth, but so was the anime, I guess. Still, will keep watching. Nice.1 point
