Eagle Rock Shorter hike than I anticipated. It felt like cheating. You shouldn't get a view this lovely for such a short hike. https://imgur.com/a/2xdzyoq4 points

Well, my murderhobo (aptly called Murderhobo) drow bard is working his way through the first part of the game, lying, cheating, intimidating and being generally obnoxious. Stepped on a squirrel, killed a wounded bird, a lame woman and caused a venomous viper to bite a child. All with that stupid grin on the face the game does. I didn't bite Gale's hand off though. Companions are useful. Lae'zel loves me, but Shadowheart can't stand me. Some cleric of Shar she is. Pfeh. Not going to lie, kind of looking forward to the acts you guys keep complaining about. Being smaller in scope and having less to do and less to explore is certainly not going to hurt my enjoyment of the game. Far from it.2 points

This is a compilation of all skill checks found in the game. How it works The number on the left is the skill required. After that, there are three lines. The line associated with the skill check will be the first or the second; the others are there to provide context. The flow of the conversation is always top to bottom. Sometimes there isn't a line because the check is at the beginning/end of an interaction or it's a ghost node that immediately sends you elsewhere. Because of how conversations can diverge and converge, sometimes there are several options. If the text is in red, it means this is what you will see if you fail the skill check. Have this much skill to avoid that result. Scripted interactions only. The wrong line of the three may be highlighted, but it generally holds. What is Party Assist? Essentially, the party member attempting to pass a skill check uses their full skill plus a portion of the rest of the party's skill. Read more here. Future work Update current data with alternate ways to pass the skill checks. Update current data with additional requirements - some checks are AND/OR constructs. Proofreading info A skill comparison can be <=, <, > or >=. Or =, but it's never used. It can also be negated, so not <= means >. This is a minor brain bomb to parse, so it's possible some stuff ended up wrong. There are also checks that are unreachable (no sequence of interactions will lead to them), but still get found by my parsing and end up in this thread. Some lines will also look strange or not really related to the skill due to the trigger/result problem I described in the first paragraph. I will not be fixing individual errors, but if a pattern emerges that speaks of a programming mistake, I will try to fix it and post the info again. It's half an hour two hours of work, so... I'll just make it clear here that both the data digging and the formatting are automated, so "minor adjustments" are not really a thing, just code fixes. It's very cumbersome to edit these posts - their size alone slows my computer down. Think then what happens when added info makes a post too large for the forum to accept it, and I have to redistribute everything. Thanks to @Kvellen and @Noqn for helping me make sense of the data!1 point

I had to reload several times after stumbling across a phase spider queen who shoots venom. Ended up killing all the minions and luring her into a place she couldn't snipe from high up, and it only took all of my Bard's and Shadowhearts spell slots along with Wyll's warlock short rest slots. 10/10 encounter. Now to explore the cellar and then explore more of the west side of the map. Maybe I'll go beat Auntie Ethel's ass first though. I'm rolling a Hu-mon DU Bard and have done almost exactly the opposite of what you're doing, going for more of a(n anti-)heroic swashbuckler instead of an outright villain. All the companions seem to like me but Astarion and Lae'zel consistently get the most disapproval. Though Lae'zel was the first companion to come onto me, unless you count Astarion calling you "Darling". I'm enjoying it a lot so far, but I was also a fan of both DOS games. I played for 2 hours last night and I feel like I didn't do ****. Act 1 is very dense so far. About your irrational hatred for innocent bards...1 point

I used to drive to Wisconsin fairly regularly when I drove over the road. It is a fairly flat state. Lake Michigan is lovely, though. Also, cheese curds are awesome. We're not immune to wild fires where I live, we had a fairly sizeable one 3 or 4 years ago, but it's pretty rare because of the humidity. The flip side of that is that said humidity makes July and August oppressive. I'm with you on the speed of life. I used to live in Connecticut and everything up there was go go go and everybody is crammed together and stressed out. It's not quite as laid back here in Cackalacky as it is in the midwest, but it's waaaaaaaay more laid back than Connecticut, that's for damn sure. Much lower cost of living too.1 point

When we were leaving San Diego back in...I want to say probably 2007, a large section of the county was being evacuated due to fires. It seemed like a huge fire at the time, but I was only in my early teens at the time, so looking back, I'm unsure how big of a deal it actually was relative to what's been going on in recent years. A few years later, we left the state entirely, and I can't say that I miss the constant fires. Love the ocean and the climate (minus any droughts) and the beauty of the state, but I am content with instead being on the shores of one of the Great Lakes instead, particularly as I find the speed of life to be more to my liking than what I experienced in California. But...especially seeing pictures like those, it's hard not to miss it nevertheless.1 point

the last two years haven't been bad for wildfires in norcal. nevertheless, more than a few insurance companies called it quits. if you wanna live in most o' el dorado, placer, nevada or sierra counties, it may be difficult to secure home insurance which isn't cost prohibitive... may be functional impossible for new homes in certain areas, although the fair plan does offer a kinda respite. our residence is foothills, so the mountains is a short trek removed. is amazing how much difference a fifteen minute drive east on highway 50 makes in terms o' surrounding greenery and decreased summer temps. HA! Good Fun!1 point

it is the same in CA-- the "basic check" is only involving an emissions test plus a check of computer + hud lights. if your car is old enough and you ain't got a computer to check codes, then the "basic check" is functional non existent. HA! Good Fun!1 point

Yeah, without a completed inspection, not counting the grace period, the car is considered to be out of spec and as such your insurance(Mandatory by the way) isn't valid. Come 17th of September, if I haven't passed inspection the car isn't allowed on the road except to drive it to a garage, junkyard or inspection site. I'm somewhat lucky though, my car is new enough to have an ABS-system, but it's not new enough to be inspected with an OBD2 reader. It's my ABS warning light, the ABS system still works from what I could tell testing it on my gravel roads here. If it turns out that it's not just a sensor that is misbehaving but the ABS module, I'm just going to wire the dashboard so that the ABS light lights up during checkup so that he'll see the light works and then stays off.1 point

@majestic Yeah, that all makes sense. I just hadn't heard of that before I guess - or per usual these days perhaps I just can't remember I've ever heard of such - hence was curious. California (I have no clue about other states) has gotten more like that re: smog checks, but there's no required general auto check-up yet. Edit: minor corrections1 point

Shouldn't that be nema problema?1 point

Standard procedure in (much of) Commie Yurop. If your car has ABS, it needs to work, and you just don't get a certification without it, and without certification you're not allowed to use your car on public roads. We're just anti-freedom like that, cars also need to have working brakes, tyres are held to a certain minimum standard and most states actually insist on you having to go through a lengthy and expensive course to get your license. If @Azdeus' actual brakes, not just the ABS, would not have worked, he would never have been allowed to drive home with his car. If you have an inspection and the brakes are found wanting you'll have to get your car towed. Brakes work without ABS though, still some cars without ABS on the market too.1 point

^ I still like to pull out Diablo1 once in a while. Although I also tend to play it for a few hours then go back to ignoring it. Running through the early levels with the squishy Sorcerer is always fun tho. I mean, it didn't take long (some hours) before the Sorc was an OP'd, teleporting, chain lighting, fireballing powerhouse, but those early more open MP levels. Having the Skeleton King out in the open to chase you all over the place. Good times. The fact I could play the MP levels offline/solo was appealing back then. D1's quest-campaign was fun, but I liked the MP design better. Although one couldn't leave all your gold on the ground/exit the game, like in SP. Heh.1 point

one hopes pizza is excluded. tar and feathers remains the prescribed punishment for putting ketchup on a hot dog w/i the city limits o' chicago, but pineapple on a pizza or lettuce/tomato on a taco will likely result in at best a condescending sneer. ... am also admitting a full nerd moment as literal the first thing we thought 'bout 'pon reading your post were that you share malcom reed's favorite food from enterprise... silent enemy episode? something obvious wrong with our brain. Fun (or at least I thought so) discussion between GN's Steve and Intel's Tom Peterson on a new tool and associated measures that should help identify bottlenecks between CPU and GPU in a more transparent manner, and possible expansion into even identifying specific causes of bottlenecks (e.g. too high resolution textures), which could be used by end users (and hopefully developers) to better optimize settings. Discussed at a mostly low level that should be understandable to all of us here, I would think. I don't really know that much about the whole "let's make a frame" pipeline, but they simplified it enough where I felt like I got the basic idea at least.1 point

It was free, and I can like hidden-object challenges, so I tried it. It was cute, but it took me like six minutes, no hints used. Not even remotely a challenge, and only one picture/level. Once completed you can try to "speed run" it, but not much point to that imo. It looks like it wants to be a series, with others being a dollar. But seemingly same format, with each being one image. Maybe if it was 15-20 images and difficulty upped a bit, such might be worth a dollar. >.> Just my view, ofc. The art and meows when you find/click on a cat was cute tho. Edit: actually, I'd probably like the series more as a pencil coloring book.1 point

Is funny to send an email with an explanation, be told in a small group that I am wrong. Then see that person forward my email to a larger group and be told he's correct. Good thing my soul died long ago.1 point

I backtracked for the swamp to hit level 4 before going forward and checked out a ruined village with some goblins. There I found some Ogres who gave me a horn after I successfully persuaded them, rescued a gnome from a windmill, and walked in on an unusual couple in a barn. Gale also ate one of my rings. General thots: -Shadowheart without spell slots is still great for the Guidance cantrip, absolutely beats Gale or Wyll for magic support -when combat starts, Karlach is a beast at single target damage -Astarion can disable most traps on a 2 with Shadowheart's Guidance. Must have combo for dungeon delving imo -Bard doesn't have too much self-buffs for where I'm at and Healing Word is so much better than Cure Wounds Didn't they also do paid mods after Steam scrapped them? And yet somehow they aren't reviled for predatory bizness practices. Curious.1 point

Furries are killing people. Perhaps @HoonDing forgot to kill the Kitsune in WotR? Gale is jealous! And is that first option about Shadowheart's comment? The Barbarian has a teddy bear.1 point

Like many of the fights in the Seeker sequence, there is a trick. All of the shades are invulnerable except for one. Kill that one (and the sub-shades it spawns on death), then find the next unprotected one (when you kill the vulnerable one, the vulnerability jumps to one of the other ones), lather rinse repeat.1 point

I keep playing about an hour at a time and feeling like I made zero progress because there are far too many little things to do. I, too, am looking forward to less dense parts of the game. Though I am also playing the Dark Urge, I haven't done too many evil things. But true to my word, I did toss some awful bard that was torturing some squirrels(?) with her terrible music right off a cliff and she died upon impact, though she landed right in front of a bear who sniffed her and then went back to catching and eating fish. Yeah, I don't blame the bear for not wanting any part of that either. I rather appreciated that nobody else seemed to notice or care, which is just how it should be when it comes to murdering bards.0 points

The narrative in season two is a bit of a mess, but it is made up by Michael Sheen's and David Tennant's shenanigans. I just read that the season is supposed to lay the groundwork for an actual sequel to the story that Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman laid out in '89 before the book was published, so I suppose that explains a few things - the episodes are just there to explain how the characters ended up being where they are in a third season that might never get made. Ending spoilers:0 points

AMD Inception fix performance degredation benchmarks. Does not really matter for consumers, but is potentially disastrous for workloads. Databases seem to have been hit the hardest, with degredations varying from 12 up to even 40% on common applications like PostgreSQL and MariaDB (the modern mySQL). nginx performance is down 12% too. Image editing also seems to have taken a hit, at least with Gimp, up to almost 30%, depending on the task.0 points

Went and had my car inspected yesterday, and it's fine, all is fine. Second to last thing the tech does is some inspections underneath on a lift, when he drops the lift down the last few cms from the floor the lift does a sort of bounce, and my car starts rolling off the lift into the carpark. I managed to slam the open car door closed in the last millisecond, so atleast that didn't get sheared off. The tech forgot to chock the tyres. He drives it up the lift again to make the last check under the hood, all is fine. He jumps into the car again to drive off the lift, turns the key and the starter does two revs before the battery goes flat... Nema problema, he has a booster so we get the car going again and drives off the lift and parks outside. Hands me the key and says that the ABS warning light has come on, tells me that I have a month to fix it.. And has the nerve to ask me for 60$ for the service off nearly ripping my door off. I got a wee bit pissed when he asked for money, though I think the death glare I gave him at that time had him change his mind as he waived the fee the instant after the words had left his mouth. Spent the day tearing apart the generator, to get a look at the charge regulator and it was definetly worn out. Got a new one and installed it, and now I hope that was the only fault. The generator does look like it has been through 450 000kms. The ABS warning light is still on though, not looking forward to finding what is faulty with that. If it's the abs module itself I'm proper ****ed as a new one is 2000$, or thereabout. If I can find one.0 points
