  1. When done correctly kosher and halal style slaughtering is as humane as is the industrial slaughtering used in most of the slaughterhouses. Kosher style got bad reputation in early 2000s when it was discovered that many kosher slaughter houses were cutting costs which lead to needles suffering of animals. Most famous case probably was Agriprocessors, that not only perpetrated animal cruelty (Peta's article containing gory videos), but bribed USDA inspectors, used illegal immigrants as slave workforce, deposited its waste to local river, used its power in Jewish community to remove kosher certification form competing slaughter houses and used mafia style intimidation technics drive competitions out from the business.

  2. Blightheart last upgrade, according to the wiki description : Nearby enemies will become Distracted after killing an enemy with the weapon for 20.0 sec But it is not really true. In the fact, Corrupting Beauty give an Aura (1.5m base radius) to the wearer that cause Distracted for 20s every 3s (pulse). Because the attack is from the weapon, that proc in the AoE Avenging Storm each 3s. As beneficial effect (15s base), that can be extended, and on top the effect is not cleared when switching to another weapon set.

  5. And about Corrupting Beauty, like Heartbeat (20% damage done by the weapon returned to healing over time), they are not cleared when combat end, and can be extended over and over with SoF. The funny part is the effect is still active while unconscious, like Avenging Storm. My dead wizard in the middle of the battlefield have kill some enemies

  11. I replayed a bit of Kingmaker after WotR, and the writing has improved, IMO. In Kingmaker, it was sometimes just so horrid... The background plot I felt was better in Kingmaker, WotR is pretty standard D&D fare, with demons and all that. I'd still claim that WotR is one of the best D&D games, not because of the writing, but because of choices it starts giving you and how they're realized in the game. Spoilery stuff, so won't go into it too deeply.

  15. @Zoraptoryes Russians are so ****ing stupid, that they bomb themselves at ZNPP, just go look for some pictures of craters and look at their directions… there is even a video of IAPP being on site and discussing the shell, which came from the south and the Russian clown is trying to convince them that the shell did 180 before the impact. Impact craters are good enough evidence, which even you cannot dispute, even as you try to point it how ridiculous it is… Russian soldiers are ridiculous and ****ing stupid idiots who dig trenches in radioactive soil, defecate where they sleep and bomb their own positions… so no need for you to be as ridiculous with your statements as they are…

  16. Got my FireFox sorted out (backed up favourites, uninstalled, deleted everything in the three AppData subfolders that had Mozilla and or Firefox in it, then reinstalled and imported favourites) Also got my gfx card repaired... mostly because it was two and a half years old and i had forgotten it had 3 years warranty One of the fans had started vibrating so badly I could hear it upstairs (my pc is downstairs). I.e. not good. Ordered a replacement fan from a company that specializes in gfx card fan replacements (no kidding, such companies exists). Replaced the card, pc and... black screen. I'm sure the left over screws I had from the gfx card were unrelated to it Pulled out the card and put in my old 1050 card, using that for a week and a half while mulling over what to do. A new card was definitely not on the budget at this point in time (I really would have expected it to last 5 years before upgrading my 2070 to something more contemporary. Took the card apart again, touched and wiggled everything, reassembled the card (still without finding a purpose for my new spare screws) and put it in my pc. Magic! Now it works again and I can hopefully wait at least another year and a half (at least) before splurging a small fortune on a new card and or pc. Off to the local Games Workshop store tonight for a few games of 40K Kill Team with some new found friends.

  18. One more try 32. black woman with white hair, in the style of Rembrandt Too realistic 33. black woman with white hair, wearing fantasy clothes, portrait, in the style of Rembrandt (bolded=changes) 34. portrait painted in the style of Rembrandt of a black woman with white hair, dressed like a fantasy RPG character "painted" changes a lot, but the style is usually way too matte (like an acrylic painting or flat-looking digital art). Its problem is its light and dark values lack a certain depth—I can't believe I'm judging the art style of an A.I., a computer, unironically. It just occurred to me. Well, at least a computer can't take it personally, I think. 35. realistic portrait painted in the style of Rembrandt of a black woman with white hair, dressed like a fantasy RPG character, hyperrealistic digital art I still have 11 credits left until the 17th. Not recognizing Pillars of Eternity is a real kneecapper for this AI. Not that these are bad. It's just, having it instantly recognize Pillars of Eternity makes it so much easier, like with DALL-E Mini aka Craiyon. That was a weaker, less-trained AI, yet look at my profile pic compared to these and tell me which one matches the artstyle better. Probably squeezed DALL-E 2 as much as we could. Stable Diffusion is definitely the way to go in the future. At least you won't need to spend $$$ or go on a waitlist. Better have enough VRAM tho

  19. It's not even like all the pressures are external. Europe's economic system relies pretty much completely on a constantly expanding population* to service its constantly expanding old age population. Europe also has a lower than replacement birth rate. So you have an increasingly old, ill and non employed population with less taxpayers not just relatively but absolutely to pay for them. You can try and fix that by cutting the benefits to old people (good luck, since they vote unlike the young) or by bringing in more young people to pay taxes, or by increasing tax burden on the remaining taxpayers, or by constantly increasing debt. Practically, and in most places, it's a combination of all those options. If you're bringing people in they're not all going to be doctors and web designers, you need garbage men and sewer cleaners as well. *only one type of person believes in constant expansion in a finite system: idiots, economists and politicians.

  21. If by "review our immigration policies" you mean let's create systems that help integrate adult migrants into society, that help avoid the creation of immigrant ghettos, and that focus on the effective education of the children of immigrants, sure, I agree with that. If by " review our immigration policies" you mean close the borders, then no, that's plainly stupid. If there are pressures that create large population movements between countries, be it war, climate, crime, or whatever, people are going to move across borders, whether you want them to or not. https://comparativemigrationstudies.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s40878-020-00213-1

  22. Immigration is inevitable and it will become increasingly more inevitable in the coming decades. Europe will be flooded by refugees whether we like it or not. So you either prepare for the people that are coming accordingly, or pretend "closing" borders and sticking your head in the sand will solve the problem.

  23. I tried another idea for prompts 29-31 The Rembrandt run ig my 'blue orc' idea wasn't as effective this time. It was something from the DALL-E Mini series on pg.1, the jokepost about 'how to make coastal aumaua'. Now it's smurfs lol I was trying to see if I could recreate any of these stylistically. 24. Maybe this is a bit of an off-kilter topic, but I hope people see it, haha. AI-generated custom RPG portraits in one minute. How ridiculous is that for real Could also use it for tabletop characters too Here's what I did in DALL-E mini. btw this isn't the only website or software out there. 1. I entered my own prompt "Black woman with white hair, Pillars of Eternity portrait" (don't need an account, eyy). Waited ~1 minute, and this was the very first result. 2. NOTE: You can probably come up with something decent-looking after doing enough runs, but I used GIMP to speed things along and for my personal adjustments. Chose the top-right creature for its outfit and the top-left square bc I preferred the head(look at the other choices) 3. The actual work. I went into GIMP and quickly just slapped on the left's face to the right one. Warped the stank mouth, bit of nose, slight brightness adjustments, and that's it, image done in like 10 minutes total. Probably could've been even faster. Can someone make something better than my rushed test job? Maybe. Probably. Better yet, make a quick AI portrait and commission an artist to use that as a base/reference to make something better and less crusty-looking. Artists could use the money anyway. Either way, it's easier than making something on your own from scratch, esp. for multiple characters.

  25. Winter's Touch bonus (+10% freeze damage with weapon attack) proc on hit or crit. Most of friendly spells have to hit for giving their effect, but without hit roll. However, that is counted as an hit. So, with the Pollen Patch by exemple, every 1s every ally in the range take an hit, triggering the Winter's Touch lash if the ally (or the druid) is wearing the Horns of the Auroch. For the SC druid himself, this is nice for a second lash when spiritshifted. In the same kind of idea, Hand of Weal and Woe trigger also each second the effect. But the beam last for only 10s. Multiple pulsing spells in the taste of Moonwell or Consecrated Ground work very well too. Of course, Healing over Time effects doesnt work .

  27. The battle axe Slayer's Claw is also a good option, you can upgrade the strong inspiration from Frenzy to tenacious in a first time, then Energized when re-switching to Slayer's Claw. On top, the upgrade Stelager's Rage, giving at max +3pen, is not limited to the Slayer's Claw attack, but everything. So, to Spirit Storm, Dazing Shoot, or spells (via arcana for SC barbarian). The effect stack with other pen bonuses, to at less penetrate, at better overpen (+30% damage). Because Bleeding Cut, contrarely to Carnage, take into account all the attack (including might bonus etc) that can make a little difference. Because battle axes deal slash damage, a backup weapon set can be useful for you : Morning Star deal crush/pierce damage, have a modal that low the fortitude by 25 on hit (not stackable) and Saru Sichr's DoT work at the same way that Bleeding Cut do : on hit, all the instance are applied.

  28. VVER reactors are much safer than Chernobyl's RBMK reactors in case of failures of cooling system. As water around of core is used as coolant and moderator, which means that in case of technical failure of coolant circulation, water around the core will evaporate and form steam bubbles, and as water in steam form does not moderate neutrons this will reduce intensity of the reaction intensity. So only loss power from cooling aggregators will not lead to nuclear disaster, but if for example core shell is damaged by artillery shell then there is possibility of nuclear disaster but not in scale of Chernobyl. But as ZNPP has six VVER-1000 reactors, there is possibility that if they all suffer damage that combined effect will lead to significant nuclear disaster.

  29. You can protect your Barbarian vs Charm with the Harmony ring, weared by himself or another character. For confusion, switching for Modwyr clear the effect, and you can back to your primary weapon set. Food can also prevent Intellect afflictions. By the way @Boeroerthat work also with the chant Old Siec, but without the healing green numbers ! In the combat log, you can see that Old Siec return some health on DoT Tick. In fact, Bleeding Cut (and other stackable DoT) apply every instance in progress on a new apply (so on hit), like a big lash increased on each attack. This is very strong. An other really quick and funny spammable ability is Spirit Storm (0.6s cast, 0.0 recovery). With skellies around you, you can refound rage, and the freeze AoE is not bad! I like HoF with Wohai Pogara, but it is not super effective as like Driving Roar or Dazing Shout.

  30. I agree, Zora's argument that the Russians wouldnt target ZNPP is unconvincing. The Ruskies have done several stupid things and made bad decisions in the interest of getting certain military outcomes Its not about them " bombing themselves " so much as its a deliberate strategy where they arent concerned about the consequence

  36. Uh hmm. Kind of difficult to be too specific without spoilers, though if plot armouresque contrivance is a put off... I would say that S2 is not in and of itself bad, just disappointing. The trouble is that the problems which make it bad only get worse, and it's very difficult to say 'well watch S2 but then stop'* as S2 isn't satisfying enough compared to just pretending S1 ended the way it should have. There are only two things about S2 I remember as really enjoying, and they both involved Villanelle shenanigans, so there is that though. *Kind of like... having a nice soup for an entrée. Followed by an adequate steak for dinner and rancid custard for desert. You can't really recommend anything after the soup, because the temptation will then be to see if the custard really is rancid.

  38. I've started Pathfinder: WotR. Not posting in the main thread because, well, just started and lots of spoilers there (no complaints about that, the game isn't exactly new). I'm not sure whether that is the best or worst start to a 'D&D' game ever. It's certainly the most stereotypical in pretty much every way. Stilted cutscenes, immediate great disaster, Chosen One Has Been Chosen etc. Then an hour later go fight 5 guys with your 4 member party where the lowest level of them is 2, the same as you, the highest is at level 5. And he's a raging barbarian immune to a bunch of statuses and with extra HP from the rage. OK, so core rules rather than wimpy 1st timer rules, but that's harsher than the Nashkel Mines. Prologue end fight was easier, since winning that only relied on making a single saving throw vs Bane. OTOH, after the prologue in most games I'd be hauling around loads and loads of potions, scrolls etc having used basically none. Not the case here, probably used almost all the useful ones I found (and I guess 20x inflict light wounds at least --> some cash to buy useful items).

  39. As you said, this was on the No-strike list, so it was individual failure of some officer deciding to bomb it. And you have also omitted, that there was immediate ceasefire for all sides of the conflict, including ISIS to repair the damage and clear this **** up, and save the dam from collapsing. On the contrary, Russian continue to shell the NPP, and think, that all of us are completely stupid to eat their bull****, that the Ukrainian missiles are doing 180, just before the impacts, so it looks like their have been shot from the south…

  41. As Boeroer pointed out, Heart of Fury is actually not that great. What you want to do is to just spam the shout that dazes and damages in a large AoE. Turn on your battleaxe modal and wear heavy armor, and just stand there and let enemies crit you. Hopefully they'll underpenetrate due to being dazed, and Barbaric Retaliation simply bypasses all of the recovery time maluses you have. In case you didn't know the retaliation attacks also have a massive accuracy and penetration bonus so they're really really good.

  44. Owlcat doesn't seem to do DLCs well, then. I think they were really quite poor in P:K. I haven't bought any of them for WotR. The difference in DLC quality between the Pathfinder games and PoE games is huge, in my opinion. (The White March is superb, The Beast of Winter is superb, SSS is OK and the FS is good.)

  45. Having played through a decent chunk of Steelrising I can share some impressions: * The combat feels really good, easily the best of any Spiders game. I've written this before, but this game very much plays like Bloodborne. The controls are maybe not quite as crisp and refined as Bloodborne, but they are still responsive and combat is fun. There are times when an aggressive approach is optimal and times when it pays to play defensively, it's very important to know your enemies' movesets and tells. You can absolutely get killed by regular mooks if you get sloppy. * The enemy variety is impressive. I've encountered at least a dozen different enemies so far and that's not counting bosses. It's not just reskins either, the enemies have completely different movesets. * Sound design is top notch with wonderful period appropriate music that stays far in the background when you are exploring. During combat the music comes to the forefront, especially during boss battles. Voice acting is well done and I appreciate how Aegis sounds unnatural when she speaks while everyone else speaks like a normal human. The metallic sounding clanging and grinding of gears of the automatons is spot on for that steampunk feel. * Graphical fidelity does not quite reach AAA, but it's relatively close. In particular, lighting effects are fantastic. Animations look good and appropriately robotic. Little touches like the gears in Aegis' back glowing when stamina drops low (stamina takes the form of Aegis overheating when she's "tired") are appreciated * I can't speak for any other platform, but the game runs like a champ on xXxBOxXx. I've encountered one graphical glitch which I've written about previously, and nothing else; no crashes, no frame stuttering, it's been rock solid. Side note: You can walk through shallow water but deep water is instant death.

  46. I defeated my first true boss of the game, The Selenite of the Louvre: These are known as Titans and defeating them grants you a power, air dash in this case. There are 3 phases to the battle. In phase 2 she sets her shield on fire and rapid fires electric projectiles at you from time to time. In phase 3 she electrifies her sickle and becomes much more aggressive. I defeated her on my second try. As an aside, this game has a multitude of difficulty options to tailor the experience to suit your taste. I haven't touched them and am playing on the default developer intended difficulty. Beating the titan also had me saving the life of Jean Sylvain Bailly. In real life he got the guillotine eventually, but since this is alternative history, who knows?
