Step 1: CRT is only taught in a university legal course. Step 2: The instructional material under review is for K-12. ∎ quod erat demonstrandum ... ... Oh were you wanting more? Actually we have no proof that any materials were rejected, much less rejected due to CRT that I can see. As far as I can see on the links from the press release, none of the materials that were rejected were identified, so there can't be any verification of why they were rejected. You could make an argument that the lack of data could indicate that a government that has been touting CRT as the devil is now showing Floridian's how they are keeping their children safe from the devil. Without any data, I'm erring on the side of them finding something objectionable, and that thing they found objectionable they're calling, incorrectly, CRT because CRT has for some groups become a lump category for "that thing liberals are trying to shove down my kids to make them feel sad".2 points

Yup, lockdowns never made any scientific sense anyway and were all political decisions. What the Chinese are doing now is staggeringly stupid. But I'm good with countries like China and Russia doing stupid things, because why should it only be my country (which I love) suffering the consequences of doing stupid things. Our stupid policymaking needs to be offset my stupider policymaking in rival countries.2 points

Antipathetic field is a great spell, and deals damage every second so it really can hit hard if you set it up right. The challenge is the set up. You need to cast it on another enemy, with the one you want to target between you and the enemy your casting it on. Like POE1, it doesn't affect the enemy you cast it on, but affects everyone in between, including allies, so care is needed. For the blind, as @NotDumbEnough indicated, you'll need a PER inspiration to counter it, which is why you want a priest. You difficulty harming it may be mainly due to being blinded. You might consider using weapon modals to debuff its defenses as well.2 points

I think the writer means the "education in the field of education" phenomenon (first PH.D in Education - 1893, IIRC). That said, a couple of random thoughts that I don't think I posted when this cropped up before... I'm not sure that the first can actually be stated with any confidence. The second is wrong because (regardless of whether they're talking about society or educational attempts) they've left off theocracy, since religion was oft one of the earliest educators for many societies*. The oldest university is a mosque turned university in Morocco that's been educating people since the 9th century or so (and most mosques have acted as places of education as part of their role within their communities) Students aren't supposed to learn from testing. If educators misuse tests or disregard what their data says, that's a different problem. But if you think students learn from testing, you don't understand testing. *People will argue - "but they were teaching the wrong things!" which is patentedly irrelevant to the argument.2 points

Spam Slicken with a Wizard, and bring a Priest to counteract his passive aura which applies Blinded to everyone in melee. If you don't leave melee range and re-engage, he won't re-apply the Blinded to you. Even though he has high fortitude I also find Tekehu's Chill Fog quite useful as it is probably going to hit eventually.2 points

So you're right, I fired up an old save, these are the PotD fully upscaled stats below. Which is really weird because I had done my homework to answer your question but I had fired up another save and looked at the Deathguard Fanatic entry in the bestiary to guide my answer above. And the bestiary shows different AR weaknesses, while everything else seems more or less in line... Anyway, Antipathetic Field could be quite effective against it (Corrode + Reflex) and weakness to Pierce is actually great... if you have the right weapons (firearms, stalker's patience, rust's poignard etc.)2 points

Not all Chinese companies are operating in China. A lot of them, especially if they are in business with components, which can be used for weapon building, has ceased the operation in Russia, due to them, not willing to risk secondary sanctions against them. Same with a few biggest Chinese Banks and Chinese companies in energy business. China might be acting like a friend on the outside, but Russian defeat would open much of Russian industry for them to take.2 points

Another news from our media, Russia has allegedly ran out of stock with components needed to assemble guided missiles for BUK batteries, which significantly cripples their AA defense in short-middle term. Also Huawei announced on 10th April, that they are stopping operations at their network component branches in Russia.2 points

Indeed it's what those living in the colonies were familiar with. The only real distinction was making their democracy a Republic and electing their head of state, which was something they also got from the Roman Republic in addition to the representative democracy. (You can see praise of the Roman Republic in the Federalist Papers) As a minor aside, one of my pet peeves (and favourite things to correct because I'm a pedant) are people that like to insist that the US is a Republic, not a Democracy. I can't be 100% sure, but I have a feeling that a lot of people that lean heavily into that supposed distinction do so because of the familiarity the terms have with the two primary US political parties.2 points

How about giving England credit where credit is due? While Magna Carta (1215) wasn't democracy in the 21'st century meaning of the word (that's another debate, what people think it means), it was one of the first steps towards forcing a delegation of power from a single individual to a group of people in the western world (not that any of those barons were elected by their serfs mind you).2 points

Not exactly, The Soul Blade mod does not affect the On Kill event. It is just raw damages. It is not related to Cruel Blade (except you can't have it at the same time as the upgrade "Ghost Blade"). It Ghost Blade on Kill that is universal while Cruel Blade is not. Which is a bit unfair for the alternate upgrade. So I'll make Cruel Blade universal, for the reason you named.2 points

is why we gave up on bruce. is no different than blm. bruce is looking for the answer which corresponds with what he wants to believe, so he finds convincing and latches onto any story or headline which confirms his bias. he will keep coming back to crt until he gets the right response or answer. is exact why we don't give him a simplified definition for crt 'cause you know he will twist whatever definition is provided so as to legitimize his own preconceptions. am guaranteeing this is not happening in hurl's classes, or any other middle school classes... though admitted am not aware o' any law school prof who requires students to stand when responding nowadays, so that part is different. and in spite o' fact we don't know with absolute certainty, we would bet every cent we have that k-5 math classes in florida is not being taught like professor kingsley's example. is safe to say having students do the bloom taxonomy analysis, apply and evaluate at law school or grad school levels is so not happening at any public primary or secondary school in the US. have mentioned previous how impressed we would be if such were the case. explore banking regulations and fec rules through socratic method as a means o' considering the inertia o' systemic racism in the US is a common lesson o' crt and if hurl were doing legit crt in his classes o' snot-nosed crumb-snatchers we would applaud his edumacational skilz as beyond 1337. 'course the aformentioned fantasy is so not what is included in a 5th grade florida math textbook which perhaps mentions harriet tubman in a rando word problem... or lord only knows what is the actual obstacles florida identified in their textbook review and denial as they refuse to provide examples. however, none o' this matters, 'cause (and AGAIN, and again and again and again,) at least one boardie will keep coming back to this until he gets the right answer. HA! Good Fun!1 point

We watched the latest Dune movie and enjoyed it. The music is very moody but the visuals and effects are impressive. I could easily watch it a few more times. One thing I wish media movie releases would do is provide an option where the vocals are increased by about 15-30 Db. It's hard to hear them over the ambient background noises and music.1 point

My nephew is continuously sick (I don't think I've seen him without a runny nose), but then again so was his father when he was a kid, now he's the terminator. It can sometimes be like that with kids. Hopefully your nieces get better and stronger than ever soon. While we are on the matter of being sick, I have a fever for two days now, my head hurts and I actually feel sick unlike when I had corona. I guess the regular old flu is back and wants it's interest.1 point

Well, maybe next time. In a vacuum, if such a viewing would be possible at all, it would be an all right samurai fantasy action film with an appropriate amount of thematic exploration regarding isolation and loneliness when it comes to Hitomi's depression and Van feeling like he has to shoulder the weight of the world on his own, doing it in the only way he can: By fighting for what is by all accounts a lost cause. Not particularily something I would turn on because I want to see it, because there are other films to choose from that would be better watches overall (not necessarily more enjoyable, but this is an area where watching Japanese live action films clearly yields better results), but equally nothing I'd turn off immediately either. As Escaflowne, indeed, this is just terrible. It's character assassination of the worst sort, removes everything that made the original lovable and arguable unique and replaces it with an equal amount of serious, gritty and bleak. 外伝 (side story, sometimes used to mean spin-off, but literally more like outside legend, 外 is the same kanji used to spell the somewhat pejorative word for outsider/foreigner gaijin - 外人) stuff is pretty popular for a whole lot of things. I'm not sure, but the ones I encountered at least all had the sense to not be retellings set in the same universe using the same characters, but rather perhaps using the same characters in different settings or making actual side story in a similar or the same universe. One of my most favorite Gameboy games is one of those, Final Fantasy Adventure. It became the basis of the Secret of Mana series. Anyway, The End of Evangelion is more like an actual narrative ending to the series. It works as a replacement for the last two episode, it arguably works in tandem and/or parallel with the last two episodes of the show, I'm not sure I'd call it a traditional side story, and I also really don't think Escaflowne counts either, but hey, if people want to label it like that that's fine with me. It's still a bad Escaflowne film and would improve immensely by letting the characters - and the film - stand on its own. It might be that Perfect Blue looks like something else or was inspired by some other film, for that I don't know enough about anime films in general, it's mostly Hitomi's character design and animation, that did remind me of Mima a bit. It's not entirely fitting because the eyes are drawn rather differently, but everything else fits. As for many of the scenes and influences, if you want take a look at the scenes from The Seven Samurai. While that's live action, does that remind you of something? edit: I mean some of the action setpieces and general looks, not necessarily the plot or anything else. Escaflowne is still a fantasy piece with a bit of a sci-fi bend, all in all. Pretty much.1 point

Here is the video from the parade, I did not count it, but they are saying maximum 100 people present at the parade... And Russia being Russia, you never know, if this are real soldiers from Moskva or some propaganda muppets I would bet most of them are just muppets, because Putler was never before humiliated as much as with the loss of this ship, and they would never admit that Ukraine destroyed one of their crown jewels of navy and any casualty on board connected to it. Especially if the crown jewel is named after the capital of Russia. The ship was packed with dozens of rockets, so if hit at the correct place, the aftermath and cooking off could destroy a lot of people on the ship. And in other news, there was probably a tea party in Moscow Gazprombank offices Aaaand another interesting news. Remember the other ship blown up in Berdyansk port? There were two more ships running away from explosion and at least one of them burning. And today, the captain of one of these ships has been "relieved" from duty and joined the captain of Moskva.1 point

What I'm saying is that the "CRT" they reference is not CRT, but other items the people object to they're lumping as "CRT", like the 1619 Project.1 point

Man, that's my thing, I can't believe I didn't think of it, . Yeah, it's not exactly bad in a vacuum...but it is pretty bad as Escaflowne. As you said, who the hell is this made for? Certainly not fans of the original show, and people who didn't like the show might enjoy this...but if they didn't like the show, they probably wouldn't want to check this out anyways - even if they did, they're still not going to want to go back and watch the show. So what's the point? I heard someone describe it as a "gaidan" (alternative/side story) film in the vein of (coincidentally) The End of Evangelion, because apparently those kinds of films were popular around that time period. So not exactly a retelling nor a continuation - only thing is, The End of Evangelion was...um, you know, a little more true to NGE than Escaflowne was to TVoE (and also, while The End of Evangelion doesn't continue from the end of the show, it does at least serve as a direct ending to the show as an alternative to episodes 25 and 26). The Hitomi/Merle scenes (and there weren't very many) were about the only part of the movie that I liked. The art style was pretty out there - lots of influences, and I can see what you mean by saying it looked a little Perfect Blue-ish. I'd be willing to forgive it if the movie was better...but instead, it just becomes part of a long laundry list of Picard facepalm-worthy inexplicabilities in the decision-making for this film. Ergh.1 point

A lot of places are using CRT as a catch-all term rather than how it is intended as a legal topic for university classes. you can very much ban and prohibit things that don't exist in books or subjects. The point would be to ban 'it' (whatever 'it' is) BEFORE it gets into books or subjects and is encountered by students.1 point

Well, that is a strong indication it's a fantasy. First, they teach CRT, then white genocide.1 point

I am still truly stupefied by the Chinese response to the virus in Shanghai ...its so counter productive trying to control this variant like they going about it. Its almost impossible to achieve a " zero Covid " policy when people need to travel and work in your country One of my UK family members works for a US hedge fund that has a very lucrative Shanghai investment presence . I think he has lived their for about 15 years or so. We not close but we get updates sometimes and he was saying how much this lockdown is hurting all businesses in Shanghai. He never talks politics or ever criticizes the CCP because they are contractually bound not to do that because of the possible response from the CCP towards foreign companies which I understand But he did mention how frustrated Chinese and foreign business people are with these lockdowns1 point

This is it exactly. China is angry at the "arrogance" of the West, but ultimately understands that if it has to choose between doing business with Russia or the West but not both, there is no real choice there at all. This is especially true right now when China itself is going through some very tough economic and fiscal problems at home. Furthermore, as the world continues to de-globalize as a result of Covid, China stands to be the biggest loser under de-globalization. So China's strategy here is to "help" their Russian ally as much as they can but only while staying well outside the sanctions lines the West has drawn around Russia. They will never flagrantly cross those sanctions lines, even while publicly loudly talking a good talk about how they don't and won't accept or recognize those Western sanctions (just like they have done with Iran and North Korea for years).1 point

Thanks for the screenshot, it definitely makes things clearer whilst discussing. I can't remember using Antipathetic Field in Deadfire, does it still hurt friendlies? (I don't trust the game descriptions). I use Serefen with Mortars/Blunderbuss' so he's near the front so could be possible if its enemies only. I think Kitchen Stove is the only unique Pierce weapon i've picked up so far except for a few Swords. I could use them with the modal to get there penetration up I suppose, my Ravager's deflection is already bad so the penalty probably won't make much difference. Ah yeah the blind, I wasn't sure where that was coming from. IIRC it didn't have a timer either so Clarity of Agony didn't affect it. I think the high Willpower and Fort really hurt Serefen as a Cipher and Aloth couldn't hit debuffs like Expose Vulnerabilities either. I should probably give someone a Club with the modal to help setup those spells.1 point

For all his other failings, Putin is a devout Orthodox Christian, bowing to the Patriarch. Even if he had deposed of the Patriarch and declared himself the head of the Orthodox Church (at least inside Russia), Henry VIII has him beat by almost 500 years.... when he declared himself head of the Church of England.1 point

Sorry I keep posting these, I think I have a bit of a girl crush on the wife. She's so adorable and she has that rock music video dance down pat. And riced cauliflower is indeed not rice. Huh, so, this is... different. Or at least, the trailer makes it look a whole lot different than what came before. Might be a good thing, as much as I liked the first season and thought the other two were still good it was getting a little stale and more and more ridiculous - but this season seems to drive the ridiculousness up to eleven. This could be the worst thing ever, or an awesome 80ies horror revival. It looks like Stranger Things, Nightmare on Elm Street and Hellraiser went on a date with Stephen King's It.1 point
