Way back in the day I played a game called Sentinel Worlds 1: Future Magic. Here are some of the available portraits: They didn't even try to change Sigourney Weaver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. As an aside, this may be my finest thread derailing ever. I regret nothing!4 points

Look on the bright side, that means there is a real woman that looks like that... or did 20+ years ago. @KatphoodLet's be real here, the real star of the show was Miranda's behind. The camera was practically glued to it.4 points

The original Neverwinter Nights avatars were patched out because many were traced over Hollywood celebrities. That bard chick was Catherine Zeta-Jones3 points

It's okay to be racist to elves, because they are unashamed racists themselves. And if they existed, they'd surely out-racist you, lowly human of the lesser races. Miranda's behind was patterned like a soccer ball and I always wanted to kick it. Double so because Miranda was awful and I'm still bitter I couldn't yeet her outta airlock.3 points

I am not gonna lie, if elves did exist then I'd be absolutely racist towards them. I mean you gotta face it: we are humans, they are elves. I'd poop in their mailboxes every night. Thank god elves don't exist, they'd make me into a horrible person.3 points

She sounded like an old lady in the sub. Honestly I thought Fish Eye was a lady until he was referred to as he. There's a lot of close brothers and cousins in the dub.2 points

lmao you weren't kidding, that really was a short "trailer" I definitely get that - if someone's voice is bad enough, I often immediately close out of a video regardless of what they're talking about, even if I'm super interested in the content. Just can't listen to you, pal - sorry! There was a poster (not here) who used to write some more long-form essays on some more interesting historical bits of American football, and I, being an American football watcher, used to read and enjoy them; then he stopped making the written essays and started making VIDEO essays on it instead, and while most other people seemed okay with it, I tried multiple times and could never hack it. Real crappy, but I just can't listen to you! Reading, both regular and visual novels, in general is lot more forgivable/what you make of it experience, I think. If a book is bad, it's not like your senses are being directly assaulted by it in the same manner as when you're watching a show or playing a video game, and you can skip or skim exactly as much as you like at whatever pace you feel like - the experience in general is much more in control of the reader. The worst things that usually happen for a reader in books is when you're already super invested into a book or series that you enjoyed and thought was well-written and THEN something really poorly-written happens and the whole thing sort of deconstructs and invalidates itself, .2 points

I'm jealous of all the COVID long hair stories. Thanks to receding hairline genetics that has my forehead hairline and my back of the neck hairline rushing to meet one another at the back of my head, all I looked like when I couldn't get a haircut was someone trying to get by with a particularly unconvincing comb-over.2 points

Yes, it's also annoying that you'll only have 1 cast of that 7th spell tier without using Grimoire oVW - which then requires you to use Blood Sacrifice more often (because Zandethu's Draconic Fury is on the same tier as Wall of Draining for example). It may be cool with a dedicated melee Druid/Wizard Spiritshift build for a party (where you might not need WoD that often) but I guess not great for solo.2 points

Don't get me started on haircuts... I currently have what can best be described as a "fro" although mine is part grey I did have an appointment with a hairdresser a while back, but then Brisbane got hit by a snap lockdown as it escaped the quarantine. Didn't really have time to try again until tomorrow. Need to get at least 10cm off! As for vaccinations... the situation in Australia is a complete mess (courtesy of our notoriously incompetent federal PM). Even BBC is making jokes about it now... I'm going to see my GP in a couple of weeks time to renew my prescription (for high blood pressure, otherwise I might just instantaneously explode in a shower of red goo), a good time I think to inquire about what the situation is regionally and when to expect/prepare for and what vaccine is/will be available. Would prefer Pfizer/Moderna over AZ/JJ anytime. Willing to wait a bit for it too.2 points

Amazing how the latest round of Israel/ Palestine broke out so close to Lapid being offered a chance to form a government instead of Netanyahu. Barely 3 days after Bibi lost his mandate and the Israeli Police were storming the Temple Mount and injuring hundreds, so very coincidentally making it impossible for Lapid to get a majority via Arab parties. Man would do literally anything to avoid seeing the back of a prison cell, including provoking yet another pointless conflict to boost his popularity via Rally Round the Flag. This time the damage is likely to be even worse thanks to the significant inter communal violence in Israel proper. I strongly suspect he'll try pulling an Erdogan and get the Israeli Arab political parties banned again for 'disloyalty' before the next election.2 points

dr. fauci might need to have a sit down with korgano and masaka. the judge in rachel powell's case were more forgiving than she deserved, and admitted am not believing it is possible for the masaka avatar to spread a human virus, but is no reason to be a jerk 'bout mask wearing just 'cause you is a divinity... or any o' the many thousands o' middle-aged male republicans who drive large pickups, wear hats to cover their receding hairline, and have a star-spangled bandana perpetually tied around their neck as if to flaunt the fact they is only pretending to comply with mask mandates. HA! Good Fun! ps is entire possible the yankee players is all extreme unlucky. +90% efficacy is not 100% after all. multiple vaccinated folks becoming infected in spite o' vaccination is gonna happen. nevertheless, one hopes this ain't an india variant (or some other variant) issue.1 point

That's like getting a participation trophy. Public holiday today. Got four panicked e-mails about a "bug" in our system that we really need to fix. It's the sort of customer that refers to problems as challenges because problem has a negative connotation. The times, they are a-changing. Used to be that newspeak was something Orwell thought the authoritarians would force on people, not the people on themselves. Well this particular challenge isn't a bug... everything's working as intended. If I ever find a way to fix operational handling issues through software you guys won't see me again, because then I'll build a castle on the moon and retire forever with the oodles of cash I'll be making from it. Heh. Yeah. Not very likely, huh?1 point

more false equivalency. it was the f'ing US Capitol. many o' the rioters were purposeful attempting to interfere with the legislative confirmation o' the results o' the Presidential election and it were more a matter o' luck than anything else that more people were not killed, especial when one recognizes that dozens of law enforcement officers were injured, some grievously so. one Congressman gets killed or paralyzed or blinded? the mob was within a couple dozen yards o' a few legislators. some ass backwards alt-right radio junkie from kentucky manages to use a stun gun on nancy pelosi and she dies. not a complete shocking result considering the chaos which were taking place. unlike seattle, we weren't talking 'bout an empty court house after hours or somesuch. US freaking Capitol. how is that difference not sinking in even now? you think the patriot act were good for democracy? what do you think is the response if nancy pelosi or mike pence died? when we saw the towers go down on 9/11, am ashamed to admit our first thought were as a Con Law guy as 'posed to a human being. we felt sympathy for those dying, but we were terrified what would be the US response to the attacks, and the freedoms which would die along with the thousands o' innocents. so, while America is losing its collective mind on january 7th after at least one Congressman dies, trump who were already having folks such as general flynn telling him to impose martial law over election results... write the rest o' the narrative from this point and be certain o' a happy, peaceful and democratic resolution. am not sure what some o' you folks witnessed on january 6, but if you saw a relative nothing burger which had zero chance o' affecting american democracy, then your reading o' history is perhaps not as deep as you believe. a mob, by its very nature is unpredictable, and this mob were inside the Capitol while trump were continuing to tell 'em what a failure were pence and how unfair it were the election were stolen. more than a few o' those happy not insurrectionists were armed. clearly weren't a matter o' having a good plan and airtight security which prevented the situation from being worse. situation coulda' gone much different and much worse and results woulda' made the patriot act response look positively pedestrian by comparison. january 6 were way worse than most americans is willing to admit or realize. given what happened on january 6, one dead Congressman woulda' shocked few. edit: added the sen. murray video today would be much different if the very plausible had occurred. oh, and pence, in spite o' refusing to interfere with the ceremonial electoral college ballot confirmation, has been silent regarding the january 6 attack. the post january 6 cowardice o' pence and other republicans only concerned 'bout 2022 and 2024 makes us far less confident that the choice to confirm the election results on january 6 was a sure thing. HA! Good Fun!1 point

I had the most incredible and beautiful experience this morning on my walk, their was low cloud when I started at 7 am and it was dark and gloomy. I live in the city in the shadow of Table Mountain and the area is very much impacted by clouds and erratic weather patterns that I have never experienced before living in SA Anyway I always walk uphill to the bottom of Table Mountain and then come back and this morning my walk took me through the cloud cover and their was sun and I had this amazing view of the whole of Cpt city covered by this lake of clouds. I dont take my phone with me but the photos below basically are the same sight I get to see everyday. The first photo is what I would normally see and the second is what I witnessed today1 point

While I'm probably a good chunk younger than you are, I'm not that young... but I only know Andy D!ck from that Voyager episode where he played the EMH Mk. II and just assumed he was a random actor, not a guest star, until Rich asked which famous comedian guest starred as EMH Mk. II on Voyager. It's a combination of not really liking most comedy and not being from the US. I've seen Zoolander but can't remember his part, but that's pretty much it.1 point

When I was a lot younger I had naturally wavy hair with very long curls that was well over a foot beyond shoulder length (kind of like Jason Momoa, just with a scrawny, MUCH less buff frame ). Then came military service, and it never grew back the way it was, and the curls are almost completely gone. Such a waste. edit: Will be getting my first shot of Moderna next week.1 point

That's a bit of a process. Once the other Guardians show up, you'll very often have a lot of transformations on screen just to pad runtime out - showing the full team transform even if only one of them actually does something, Sailor Moon R being the worst offender, I guess. Then the seasons progress and eventually you'll end up missing the full team transformations and kind of enjoy seeing whem when they come up in a special. It's like with the attack scenes. They're nice at first, but... endlessly repeated. Overall that's a minor issue and it never bothered me, but I can understand when people complain about it. The budget of the show was what it was, and stock footage is a decent way to stretch runtime. If you like the Tarot card stuff you can also eventually look at how much Astrology hokum there is in Sailor Moon. There are some things that these early episodes have that will eventually phase out. In a way, the show progresses in certain chunks. There's the first 13 episodes with a lot of little things that quietly get dropped, then everything up to episode 24, then everything leading up to the final Guardian showing up, then the final stretch of season one plus the filler arc of R, the rest of R, then there's S which is... widely considered to be the single best season of Sailor Moon, then there's the season none of us want to ever talk about again (but will, for your sake, if you stick with it that long) and finally Sailor Stars, which was mildly divisive*. Yeah. *On the board here. In the larger fandom that season sees a split between love and hate, with very little in between. edit: @Bartimaeus I don't get people who say crystal's reboot animation is so pretty. There's a pretty decent showcase in the Netflix trailer. @LittleArmadillo0 minor spoiler for a later Guardian... it's pretty safe to click and all, but still. edit 2 (actual spoilers):1 point
