  1. ps am moderate embarrassed we didn't mention the aztecs. pretty sure we linked on these boards in 2014 or 2015, explaining our shame for not mentioning this time. is short and includes peter weller, so perhaps deal with a commercial if need be. https://www.history.com/videos/aztec-ingenuity#aztec-ingenuity stuck with terrible soil for farming? well, ok then. make land for farming. 'course you need a really big and shallow lake to pull this off-- is nevertheless awe inspiring impressive but also unique. producing enough food to support a thriving population has been the largest obstacle to human advancement since... forever. rare and recent has such obstacles been overcome with any regularity beyond the handful o' famous rivers mentioned previous. HA! Good Fun!

  3. lets have a price comparison to see how far off the mark i am. a panoramic x ray of your teeth in a private lab costs 20-25 euros here (just under $30) and its the full price with no cover from health insurance. how much does it cost in USA? to make the comparison more apples to apples, i'll include the minimum wage which is 3.5 euro/hour

  9. Nice idea. Maybe the summons are too good though to use them as Chillfog fodder. But if the are about to die anyways... Since I played a Berserker/Beckoner and annihilated everything but the strongest enemies in seconds with Grave Calling + Ancient Brittle Bones I won't touch that thing anymore. One could do something similar (but less powerful) with Hel Beckoning + Noxious Burst and Beckoner whisps or exported figurines which summon shadows/shades by the way.

  11. I bought hundreds of pieces of eating plasticware and stopped washing any dishes - because doing such daily was causing too much joint wear and tear and pain. And a week later, the 'trigger' aspect to my right thumb, at least, seems to be slowly improving instead of worsening. Dunno if it'll ever feel as flexible/not stiff, but it's nice to hope I won't be Velcro-Hand forever. I guess washing dishes is now evil. Well, it always was, but now even more so. Btw, velcro wrapped around most of your fingers is murder on bed blankets and robes. Just saying.

  12. I have played furyshaper/ancient, berserker/ ancient and corpse eater/ancient and they all are really fun to play. Because blood thirst triggers with dot spells (plague of insects, infestetation of maggots, insect swarm) you will have a lot of time with zero recovery and also good healing spells( moonwell etc) and storm spells which helps the squishiness of barbarians. Spirit frenzy also lowers fortitude which helps you to land your spells. Stag garnage (community patch) and barbarian carnage stacks which is also nice or you could go melee with whispers of the endless path and use taste of hunt aoe dot. This is all borrowed from @Boeroer posts so credit where it belongs.

  14. Madoka Magica is probably what I'll watch after finishing Sailor Moon since all y'all watched it and it's pretty short, but I'll be on at least a little bit of a break in between. I have totally exhausted my TV watching abilities over the past 5-6 months, in between rewatching the first three seasons of SU, piles of Sailor Moon, Speed Racer, Evangelion, Hilda, OK K.O., Infinity Train, and some odds and ends of other shows. There was once upon a time that I had only ever watched exactly two shows all the way through - I'm still adjusting, .

  15. Nah. I've started too many things now and had too much going on at work, and checking out the Madoka movies made everything worse because... I originally only planend to check out the beginning of the first film and then go do something else (manga, Steven Univere Future, JoJo's or... work, I really should stop procrastinating) but I'm completely hooked again. The surrealist pieces look amazing.

  16. I like it. I liked S3, it is hard to top ****ing Dracula in ****ing Castlevania (even with the stone mask from JoJo showing up), but I thought it was good for what it was. Like S1 tho, it did feel a bit too much like sequel bait and not enough like it's own thing. Oh yeah, have you met the cyborg in JoJo yet?

  17. No, I can't, because brain, but I appreciate the information. Didn't you say you wouldn't watch the films though? As for what's next, how about some 80ies bad movie action schlock. You could try MD Geist. (well that's mostly a joke). @BartimaeusShould you choose to watch Madoka Magica after Sailor Moon (or in between), it's probably better to take the movie trilogy. It looks a good deal better than the TV anime, and the audio quality is better too.

  19. good lord, no wonder I didn't have a strong impression of Minako prior to R, who the hell is this girl and what has she done with my Minako
    1 point
  20. Minako is technically... two different characters in the manga. In the first arc she's this dead serious leader type that's been fighting evil for a long time. She takes charge and helps everyone remember their past lives and get their act together and even gets to pull out the Master Sword LEGENDARY SACRED SWORD from its resting place on the moon (you'd think it would take Makoto to pull a sword from a stone, huh, but no, we're doing the Excalibur thing). And once Metalia is out of the way she increasingly becomes a goofball because her Sailor V persona starts bleeding into Sailor Moon. It's the sort of thing that happens when you're under a lot of pressure to deliver and are working on both your regular normal series and the sequel at the same time. You can see that in the anime as well. In the first season when she has her backstory episode and asks Usagi to help her possessed friend that stole her love from her Usagi even wonders about how much more mature Minako already is, compared to them. Look at this... Just take care not to watch it until the end because that goes all the way to Sailor Stars. It's pretty obvious where the first season ends and the second one starts. The Sailor Stars episode you haven't seen yet starts at 15:29. Makoto falls under Dark!Endymion's spell and tells him all about the secret underground control bunker in the arcade's basement, a couple of issues after falling for Dark!Motoki's lovespiel to drain her energy.

  21. SU spoilers. The first three episodes of SuperS weren't so bad, except for having two of the top three horrible assault scenes. It just went downhill fast from there. Usagi yelling at her mother and storming off after Chibi-Usa ate all her lemon pie was a first warning sign, I guess, but... strange. Were we talking about something? Seems like I don't remember the topic. Isn't it strange tha they only made 161 Sailor Moon episodes? I could have done with a few more. I'm not entirely unhappy to have watched Crystal, in part for the same reason that I'm reading the manga now. It's better than Crystal because less adaptational weirdness and some more character stuff, but it's not really... good, and it's only going to be come worse in the next arc. It puts certain things of the anime in a new context. Also kind of looking forward to seeing more Tuxedo Mullet action in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. I've read that Minako and Rei will be fighting with each other in that one. That seems to fit a good deal more than whatever the anime tried by making her have a conflict with Makoto (twice even). There's one thing I haven't complained about in the manga chapter I read recently. It's that Makoto is the only one who falls for Dark!Endymion's mind control. Why? Is there some unwritten Sailor Moon rule that Makoto needs to be used as punching bag at least once per arc? Is that because it's easy to do?

  22. lmao - neighbors (OR HER SCHOOL OR FRIENDS?!) ask Ikuko about her after she's left, she's gonna be like "uh, no, I don't have a pink-haired daughter...UNLESS YOU MEAN CHIBI-CHIBI? but no, I'm pretty sure I would know if I had some other pink-haired daughter..." *next month after Chibi-Usa has come back* "what are you talking about, she's always been here!" *next month after she's left again* "sorry, never heard of her, I only have one daughter...if that" @majestic

  25. I'm pretty sure everyone under Luna-P's hypnotic spell forgot about Chibi-Usa when it wore off. There's an episode in R that sets this up. The girls and Mamoru aren't affected because they never were under the spell in the first place. Why? Because the plot demands it, and there was no time to think it through when it came up - and no time for Naoko Takeuchi to spend an issue or two on dealing with the aftermath of Chibi-Usa going back home. Or maybe everyone just treats Chibi-Usa like Deanna Troi's older sister, and if you haven't seen that episode and wonder what now, yes, that's exactly the point.
    1 point
  26. Once Chibiusa left, the hypnotic effect ceased and Ikuko probably forgot about her. However, it must be really weird having friends and neighbors asking where is the daughter you never had.
    1 point
  27. Now that you mention it, what the heck does Ikuko think of Chibi-Usa suddenly disappearing? Early into SuperS, Ikuko was talking about how she was so happy with and proud of all of her children, Chibi-Usa included, and was looking forward to all of them growing up and getting married. It was actually one of the sweeter moments of the season, especially given it happened right after Chibi-Usa had actually legitimately wronged Usagi (which is like the only time that happens in SuperS) and wanted to apologize. There are literally still photos of Chibi-Usa around - I've seen at least one of them in Usagi's room within the past few episodes I've watched. @majestic Ugh, I remember your description of this from the first time you watched it, . In regards to Crystal...yeah, just play the Riker video again: it was all a mad fever dream, don't try to think about it or make sense of it.

  29. Fun fact, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction ran on our TV stations under the title "X-Factor" - imagine my confusion when I found out that talking about X Factor on the internet made people think of casting shows instead of Commander Riker telling us whether silly coincidences that were believed to be magic actually happened or not. The show is also responsible for one of the hardest laughs I ever had watching TV, there's an episode where a couple talked to another one how lucky they got after their wedding - they were supposed to board the RMS Lusitania to go on their honeymoon, but their wedding bands got messed up over night and had to be repaired, so they missed boarding the ship. The other couple they talked to were all like: "Wow, you had such luck with that, OH MY GOD!" and then the camera pans out to reveal that they're all on the LZ 129 with the Statue of Liberty visible in the distant background. Sadly that was one of the "NOs", but you can't have everything. It was also probably not intended to be funny, but hey... almost felt Final Destination-ish. If that didn't come out before Final Destination. Which it probably did. Or not. It's not even that easy to find out because another fun fact, the show was so much more popular in Germany that new episodes premiered there. Season three in particular aired in '99 here, while way later in 2000 on FOX. More SUish spoilers mixed in:

  31. Hello guys, I am here again But I will not start another char, I am happy with the Warlock. But there’s one thing I want ask you. I am playing with a party, on Veteran upscaled no blessings. But sometimes I am feeling the solo play is more fun. Do you guys think that for a first run is better to play with a party (in lore and completion), but playing solo I can try achieve the same stuffs as party?

  32. For Balance : Firebrand isn't viable as an ultimate weapon as it is. It is good but not enough. The spell is perfectly fine as a Tier 2 utility spell to get a weapon that deals elemental damages (very important Vs certain foes). That's why I won't change it. Parasitic Staff isn't as strong as ultimate Weapons, but its unique enchant makes it suitable for certain builds. Such as Bloodmage indeed. But that's why I think it doesn't need a buff. For Wizards, it is fine to use it sometimes but switch to other Conjured 2 handers such as Citzal Lance or Warding Staff if necessary. Power Level scaling is a tempting idea but I'm conservative about Keeping the char level instead since it is way easier to balance (PL stacking and differences between Multiclass and Single Class would be a pain).
