That's making me sad. I mean I have no real intention of ever coming back - not to SWToR nor to any other MMO - but I really enjoyed my time playing it. The operations and even some of the flash points were among the best MMO content I've had the pleasure of being able to experience. If only a tiny fraction have cleared them in Nightmare Mode then nothing much has changed from the past. Not entire unexpected though, the player base probably hasn't grown too much, if at all, and the raiding scene was somewhat anemic even before SoR. Probably no way to pick up NiM operations now even if I wanted to. I remember we had a total of eight Conquerers of the Dread Fortress on the server (cross faction, even), and no Deposers (aaaand that's the reason the guild went kaboom). Had a good team going for a bit, lacked some DPS though. Had a good healing companion too. Really good. He had some family issues and couldn't play shortly before the reaslease of Dread Palace. Also a reason why we failed. Replacement was good, but... yeah. When he left after the guild drama I stuck around testing other healers for a bit, then left too. Massively increased project load at work helped with that decision too. I remember greenlighting a sorc heal for the main raid. Almost flunked him out after the first test run, but he did all right on the second (said I don't think he's a keeper but we should do a second run just in case). After I left, they raided together for a while, then the sorc left for Drop It Like It's Hoth. Not sure if DILIH is still a thing, but they were back then. Being the only guild to kill pre-nerf Dread Guards, as far as I know. Keeps popping up as a funny topic when talking with some of the guys I'm still in contact with from time to time, but it should showcase just how good of a healing partner the other guy was. The thing I miss most though was shooting people out of space in GSF. Feel like I've posted that before. Probably did. Twice. Or maybe more.2 points

I'm playing through this time with MaxQuest and AndreaColumbo's excellent mods that add in Pillars 1 items to Deadfire. I just ran across the Belt of the Royal Deadfire Cannoneer, and I'm trying to think of uses for its Firebrand weapon -- which isn't just accessible to Druids! Any ideas about how to build around it, or uses for it? Bonus for ways to use it with the existing companions/sidekicks. Obviously, you can use the Ring of Focused Flame with it; and I saw from some older posts Boeroer's idea that using the Ring with it would offset the accuracy loss of the greatsword modal, giving extra damage. Any other synergies or builds?1 point

Since the Grounded twitter page recently presented a question about who the "next new neighbor" should be, I think now would be a good time to suggest a fifth playable character. Perhaps a customizable character? The customization categories could be split into Gender, Head, Hair, Clothes, and Voice. Gender: Lets the player choose between a boy or girl. Determines which animations and body/clothing/armor models to use for the player character. Head: Could contain either sliders for specific face parts or preset face shapes. Perhaps both? Hair: Contains a selection of basic hairstyles. Five options per gender would be a good starting amount. Clothes: Contains clothing subcategories for Body, Legs, and Feet. Five options per subcategory would be a good starting amount. Voice: Contains voicetypes for the player character to use when grunting, commenting on things, etc. Could have four voicetypes, two masculine voices and two feminine voices. Perhaps have a pitch slider for more customization? Color: Every category (except voice) and subcategory could have a selection of colors for further customization. This could be either a selection of predefined colors or a color wheel. Perhaps both? Saved Teens: If the player has made a custom teen, they can choose to save it for later use when starting a new game or when respawning. Gender Filter: Every category could have a checkbox to show/hide feminine/masculine options. Future Expansions: As the game is worked on, the options available for custom teens could be increased via either content updates or DLC.1 point

I do not see me doing all that much gaming over the next week, so may as well start looking back at the year now. Obviously the big disappointment was Necromunda. It looks pretty, but not only did they make design choices that went against what the game should be, it was and is a buggy mess with possibly the worst AI in computer gaming history. It is amazing how they managed this. If they had simply reskinned Mordheim, a lot of people would have been happy. The fact that Rogue Factor is now a subsidiary of Cyanide and Cyanide got sold, so Focus didn't care anymore for this title, didn't help. Immortal Realms: Vampire War was another disappointment. One of the "strange" things is that from beta to release, nothing seems to have changed. They called it a beta, but in reality it was a "Play bits of the game as we finish them". Troy - A Total War Saga on the other hand was a very pleasant surprise. It is the first Total War game I ever finished. It treated the mythical setting well and follows the "historical" events while giving players freedom to do as they please. I would call it one of my top purchases of the last couple of years, but it was free. Age of Wonders: Planetfall - Star Kings DLC was also better than I feared. The Empire mode makes skirmish games more involved and may have come a bit as a result of the very negative feedback the single player campaign got. It has its issues - the AI has real trouble handling some of the random planet traits and can become non functional city states. But it is a step in the right direction. Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark 's DLC was also great. The game becomes a little grindy towards the end, but I am glad I got it from the Giveaway thread and people who passed it by were silly Phoenix Point's Year One edition was on the other hand rather meh. It improved a lot over what had been released before, but all of that they could have done a year earlier if they had simply listened to Backer Build feedback. And the DLC so far is pretty bad. Especially the Legacy of the Ancients one is so grindy, it makes asian MMOs feel casual (yeah, a bit of hyperbole, but imagine you'd play XCOM, and to gather resources you'd have to keep the Avenger hovering over the resource site to pick up alien DNA one unit per hour and you needed 150 units for one weapon). It also means I feel that the rest of the DLCs will simply bloat the game and not make it more interesting or fun. Chimera Squad on the other hand I absolutely loved. Well, not some of the characters and their banter, which I found annoying. But the gameplay and direction the game took were very enjoyable and I did finish it three times to explore everything the story had to offer and try different squat compositions. I am looking forward to FiraXCOM3. The best writing this year was easily Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest. It would have been great if it was longer and the end felt a bit rushed. On the other hand, the whole story makes sense and is the best introduction to the world of darkness I have seen in a game.1 point

Clothing store in city centre, forget where precisely. Go into a clothing store, the guy welcomes me back but I sure don't recall going there or getting a call about it - mabe was lost in the Regina spam. Cyberpsycho bursts in, you kill him and then meet a MAXTAC officer named Melissa Rory who has an awesome pair of Mantis blades and really enjoys killing people. Quest is called Bullets too, so is even more on the nose1 point

Edit: Nostalgia aside, this is a great, mellow, more recent song of theirs, as well.1 point

Yes, I'm in the same boat. I'd never have made it past my teen years without them. They've been essential on a couple of occasions since then. I can probably say the same thing about vaccines, but it's harder to say what you avoided than what you recovered from. Personally I'm not sure why you'd want to live in the past; things get steadily worse the further back you go. I'm more interested in what the future will bring.1 point

I want to be born 100 years from now. My primo cyborg body, with adjustable dong, would no longer be a slave to the ravages of time/illness/disease and I could explore the cosmos.1 point

2m is only the base radius. It scales with INT. Temple of Skaen has several ciphers for example. Also some bounties have them. Not all of them have Psychic Backlash. But anyway no big deal: just use another shield for those IF the shield triggers Psychic Backlash. I just wanted to mention it so that you don't run into that issue unprepared. Aila Braccia is an excellent backup shield especially against all sorts annoying ranged enemies - and it works in combination with Soul Mirror (Aila Braccia reflects 100% of ranged grazes and also converts them to misses, Soul Mirror reflects 50% of the direct misses).1 point

Rooting Pain: depends if you like to spend (and gain back) a lot of wounds or if you like to keep 10 for stuff like Turning Wheel/Blood Testament Gloves. You might want to check if Redfield's Harbinger enchantment targets will (I don't remember). If that's the case I wouldn't wear it in fights with enemy ciphers. They sometimes have Psychic Backlash and that means you'll get stunned every few seconds. It's the same with Threatening Presence (Barb) and can completely mess up the fight, so a backup shield would be good to have.1 point

The internet is great because you can always find some picture somewhere to express how you're feeling any given day. That is basically me for several days. ...btw, the 55" TV is already feeling too small - if I want to sit farther away/not at the desk, I mean. What I need is a ceiling rail track mounting system so I can move the TV closer/farther by pulling on it or a handle, like a curtain.1 point

Probably want a settlement. That's the problem with caving to Sapkowski's sellers' remorse when they didn't have to, shows you're an easy mark.1 point

Terrible advice, don't. It will suck out your soul until you're nothing but an empty husk full of hate and rage, and if you go beyond that you'll end up getting sick to the stomach when thinking about playing with other people. Or you might win the lottery and actually end up in the one raiding group on the planet where everything is happy-go-lucky, fun and joy and the people have the skill to raid. You just see a unicorn, the sasquatch, a yeti or perhaps discover the cure to old age and every disease. 's all equally likely I guess.1 point

Yes, that's one of the things which is simplistic in the explanation. Epidemiological matters tend to be rather less exact/ precise than you'd like from scientific stuff. 'Herd immunity' itself being a prominent example, since its seldom actual immunity that is being talked about but rather protection against uncontrolled spread. The weak immune response I mentioned for respiratory viruses in general is because it's fundamentally difficult for the immune system to get at a respiratory tract infection as compared to a more general infection- epithelial cells have the 'outside' on one side, after all. So you can have a beautiful immune response to a vaccine but still get a mild infection because the immune system has difficulty reaching the infection site (and for some people it will simply be ineffective for whatever reason). There's also the dichotomy between SARS-CoV-2 as a virus, and covid19 as the effect of the virus. The most simple example would be a linear 95% reduction giving a death number around half that of annual flu, without taking into account any reduced spread due to reduced symptoms or outright immunity given. The virus itself would be present a lot more than that 95% reduction suggests, but you'd have reduced covid19 (the viruses effects) by a theoretical 95%. Practically it doesn't quite work that way of course, but the way it 'really' works is too complicated for an easy explanation- and would be well beyond my expertise level.1 point

And, you know, Skyrim. If Bethesda got one thing right, it was the first/third person setup. The fact that in 2019 games are still going first-person only is frankly pathetic. Though I can understand budget constraints. As far as motion sickness, etc, tweaking the FoV and disabling some of the garbage post-processing effects (chromatic aberration = developer fail) can make a notable difference.1 point

Yeah, me personally, I can play 1st person games, such as call of duty and the like, but given the fact that one of the first things you do is play around in the character creator, I can't justify spending any time in there on cosmetics, beyond male or female. Which is frustrating. I really want to enjoy this game, but without being able to see my character I just don't feel a connection there. That being said, this isn't just a choice or preference thing. Some people can't play 1st person games because it gives them headaches or motion sickness. This is especially frustrating given the fact that third person exists in the game. The game has the capacity for 3rd person. Your character model is rendered in the world, you have 3rd person animations. And with some time spent messing with game files, it is possible to play in 3rd person, just not without going into the games guts. I really wan't to enjoy the game. And the second they add a 3rd person mode (or someone makes a mod to do it) I will absolutely buy the game (i've already played it on the Xbox games service). But right now I can't spend more than an hour in the game without becoming incredibly apathetic.1 point
